It took me six years to find a solution….

Hi guys!!

Have you seen the new yoga mats available on PopFlex?!? They are SO cute and I’m so glad to finally be able to offer the best mats I can!!

It took me several years to finally get my yoga mats exactly where I needed them to be. I’m proud of these vegan suede mats, and that’s why they are consistently my #1 seller! But, it wasn’t easy. Let’s take a trip down yoga mat memory lane:

2012-2014: When I first started designing mats, we’d silk screen 1-color motivational sayings on basic neoprene mats like “Sore today, Strong Tomorrow” and “Train Insane or Remain The Same”! These were great! Except I wanted them to have more cushion for joint support and I needed them to be more colorful.

2015-2017: We began designing unique prints for our fit planners and our clothes, so I wanted to find a way to transfer that print to a neoprene mat. It was difficult, but we found a way! We introduced our “Couture Mats” which were very thick and luxurious with all sorts of colorful prints! These were lovely! But the extra thickness made them heavy, and after introducing @piit28official, we discovered that mountain climbers with shoes were slowly making the colors fade. Plus the neoprene proved to be hard for those who sweated a lot. Slippery hands were an issue.

2018-2019: After years of development and testing, we finally made it to our current “Vegan Suede Yoga Mat”. I LOVE THIS MAT. It is everything I want it to be and it is the only mat I use when I work out. Can I brag about it for a sec!?? Cuz imma brag about it for a sec!

☑️ You don’t slip. In fact, the sweatier you get, the better your hands will grip to the mat. Yup. Hello vegan suede!
☑️ It’s lightweight, but still super thick and cushiony! Only about 2 lbs…not 10 lbs like those other mats!
☑️ The color does not fade! Do as many mountain climbers as you want, the color stays right there exactly as the day you bought it.

As you can see, the first time you try something, even if you’re trying your best, it won’t be perfect. Maybe it’s perfect for the moment, but you’ve got to keep evolving, experimenting and MOST IMPORTANTLY, using your failures as a lesson! I’m so proud of these @popflex_active vegan suede mats, and I’m happy to introduce some new designs into the family! Which do you like better? “Take a Dip” 💦 or “Rainbow Cream” 🌈?

 

8 Times Working Out was SO Relatable

Hey guys!

I know a lot of you have been doing the 28 Day Summer Sculpt with me and it has not been easy, but you are getting it DONE – and I couldn’t be more proud of you!! We are in the thick of it now, so KEEP GOING. DO. NOT. STOP. You are 100% strong enough to make it til the end.

But…ok…let’s be real. Working out comes with a LOT of struggles. Not just like “boo I’m sweaty and I have to wash my hair” but like “OMG EVERYTHING HURTS AND I’M DYING”. Let’s discuss, shall we?

#1. Walking is HARD. Like… really hard. Jello legs anyone?

 

#2. When videos are too hard so you take matters into your own hands.


 

 

#3. DO NOT make me laugh after an ab workout. That’s just mean.

 

#4. I’d like to see guys who grunt aggressively at the gym do some Curly arms.

 

 

#5. So nasty. But so satisfying.

 

#6. It’s a 3 step process.

 

#7.

You: Red-faced, winded, dying.

Instructor: Sweat glistening like the best highlight ever, speaking in full sentences, generally unbothered.

You: HOW?!?!??

 

#8. MASOCHIST? I THINK YAASSSSS!!!!!

 

The struggle is REAL you guys. And yet we keep pushing because we know that, at the end of the day, your body will thank you for taking care of it and cherishing it.

No matter what ANY instructor throws at you (including me) – you can do it! You might have to take more breaks than you want to, but that’s ok. Stop, and start again. That’s life! You can’t get stronger without a good challenge! So let’s work together to push through and find our strength!

8 Things Only Girls Who Wear Activewear Will Under...

Hey guys!

I love clothes. That’s why I design them! Activewear to be precise!

But, sometimes clothing and working out just don’t cooperate. And I’ll admit – even though I probably should know much more than the average person when it comes to the fashion of fitness, I STILL have embarrassing debacles like any other girl :P

So time to get super honest as we get to know each other a little better :) How many of these situations have you found yourself in!??

#1. GO TO THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOUR WORKOUT. I REPEAT: BEFORE.

#2. Not sure what’s worse, but I’ve committed both crimes. 

#3. Ok but if I size up I have no support…. HELP!!!

#4. I will make all of my pants high-waisted… YOU CAN’T STOP ME!!!

#5. FACTS. Thankfully I have a solution.

#6. How do all shorts becomes booty shorts as soon as you start running?

#7. HIGH WAIST LIFE IS THE BEST LIFE!!!!!

#8. Hey… at least it’s keeping with the whole 80s/90s fashion coming back 😅

Well, there you have it…my activewear struggles. All of these events have happened to me, which is I choose to invest in good quality sports bras and leggings now. Admittedly, I didn’t want to at first (ya know, trying save some money here and there) but in the end, the see through butts and the saggy crotches taught me NEVER AGAIN.

I do appreciate the bad experiences though, because without them, I would not know how to design POPFLEX in a smart (and beautiful) way.

Finding gratitude among the drama of expectation

How it feels to finally realize that happiness can be achieved free of being attached to a thing, an outcome, or even a person. You are finally FREE when you can find happiness for no reason at all. 🌈

It’s hard to do, and I myself am not there yet. I am at fault for attaching my happiness to outcomes especially, and in return I get sad and angry when things don’t turn out as I expect them to. But that’s the problem – EXPECTATION.

The healing ointment for all of this internal drama is GRATITUDE. If you’re feeling negative, jealous, betrayed or upset, first stop. Then take a deep inhale and exhale as you close your eyes. Do it 5-10 times. It’s quite calming. Then force your brain to realize/calculate/inventory everything you have! Then ask yourself “what was the lesson I was supposed to learn from all this?” This process allow your heart to relax and will you a chance to dig up that feeling of appreciation. I know it’s there – it’s just that sometimes we leave it in the dust as we keep moving about, trying to figure out the next step.

I hope this helps you to live your life today with more gratitude and less expectation, as we all try to work our way towards the freedom of PURE JOY. 💛

I had to learn to stand up for myself….

Ok guys, time for some TRUTH TALK:

Growing up, I was taught to be obedient, to avoid conflict, and to make people happy – which for the most part worked very well and kept me from getting in trouble. BUT, as I’ve grown up, I’ve realized that it has shaped me in a way that subconsciously made me afraid to stand up for myself. Like, TERRIFIED – because I hate upsetting other people. But the truth is – life isn’t perfect and you have to have the downs to appreciate the ups…you have to have bad people to appreciate the good people.

I’ve had to tell numerous individuals things they didn’t want to hear. And you know what? IT SUCKS. But you know what sucks even more?? When people think they can step all over you and take advantage of you. That’s not ok. And guess what? In many cases, ego and pride will get in the way of the other person even trying to understand where you’re coming from, so – they don’t belong in your life anyway. You’ve got to rise above to protect your soul and your sanity.

I am grateful to be where I am today, living the life I love with the people I love, because of the choices I’ve made…to stand up for myself and for the people I care about. As scary and uncomfortable as it may be, I hope you choose to confront your demons. I know it’s painful, but to get rid of the pain, you’ve got to deal with it head on. 👊

10 Things Only Fit Foodies Can Understand…

For those of you are trying to keep up with that healthy lifestyle but also are semi-addicted to eating, perhaps you can relate to the frustrations of being fit foodie like me. How many of these situations have you found yourself in?

#1. You heart dies a little when you have to order salad for a meal. SOMEONE tell me how lettuce costs $18. IT DOES NOT.

#2. You eat so clean that you have a serious addiction to munching on crunchy, salty things post-lunch/dinner/literally every meal.

#3. You have no chill when it comes to food…

#4. You LOVE Trader Joes.

 

#5. You are a connoisseur of balancing flavors…

 

 

#6. You are hard core at everything you choose to do. Including buffets. THEY LOSE MONEY ON YOU.


#7. You are a one-trip wonder when you get home from the grocery store!

#8. The world is cruel, but at least the donuts taste good 😭

Trying to find a low carb bread substitute

Hi guys – let’s talk about bread.

I’m always searching for a bread alternative since wheat seems to make me super bloated. So today I am trying out 3 grain free bread recipes that I found online! Let’s see which one will taste the best?

I partnered with Thrive Market to test out some recipes I’ve been wanting to try forever!

Check out all three recipes below or follow along with my video!

#1. Low Carb Flat Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup full fat coconut milk
1/2 cup + 1 heaping tablespoon super fine almond flour
1/2 cup arrowroot powder/flour
pinch of sea salt
Garnish (optional)
6 teaspoons of vegan butter spread (1 teaspoon per flatbread)

#2. Cloud Bread

Ingredients:

3 eggs
3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened at room temperature
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey

Will my bread turn out to be a glorified meringue?!??? Bluprint says no. Watch the video to find out what happens when I pull these puppies out of the oven.

#3. 90 sec bread

Ingredients:

3 tbsp almond flour or 1 1/3 tbsp coconut flour
1 tbsp oil (melted butter, melted coconut oil, avocado oil)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
tiny pinch of salt

Ok. This one looks like bread… but does it stand up to the taste test?!?

Hey guys!

It is MARCH! And that means it is CRAZY TIME for me and everyone here at Blogilates HQ! We are officially less than a month away from putting on our very first outdoor festival ever, Puppies & Planks! It’s a charity fitness festival for humans and dogs all with the mission of raising awareness for dog adoption! There will be adoptable furry friends, a 3K Dog Walk, food trucks, a shopping village, fitness classes taught by me, my sis, The Fitness Marshall, Anna Victoria (plus more!) and of course photo opp stations…aka Instagram heaven :)

Can you come!?? It’s happening in Downtown LA on National Puppy Day, March 23, 2019 at the LA State Historic Park! General admission is TOTALLY FREE! If you plan on coming, could you RSVP here so I know how many porta potties to get? :P K thanks.

If you want to take a fitness class with me or any of the other instructors, there is a $25 donation for the all-access fitness class pass! That means you get to take all the classes, all day long for the price of one class! And the best part is, the ticket sales are being 100% donated to LA Animal Services and local rescues :) You can sign up here.

If you can’t come, but still wanna help out, there are 2 other things you could do that I would love love love you forever for!
