One thing that I didn’t know about shipwrecks unti One thing that I didn’t know about shipwrecks until I started diving was the beauty of the life it can create, after death. Coral grows quite abundantly on shipwrecks due to the conditions the structure provides, and therefore attracts fish and so much sea life. Nature teaches us that good can come from bad, and that even when you think something’s destroyed forever, it’s actually an opportunity to be reborn. 🪸

WW2 Japanese shipwreck dives I did in Coron, Philippines:

1. In this video, I’m freediving down to Skeleton Wreck.

2. I highly highly highly recommend Mozaran Maru (~80 ft deep), one of the coooooolest wreck dives ever. You literally descend through a bomb hole and must navigate the innards of the ship (a lot of it in the dark) with a flashlight…truly a thrilling adventure. Once you get on top of the ship, there are the most beautiful cabbage corals - my FAVORITE coral ever. My gopro died so I have no footage of this but it will forever live on in my heart.

3. Olympia Maru (~100 ft deep) is a ship the size of an American football field! Took a long time to swim around it! Visibility isn’t great here so I didn’t see the whole ship at once but maybe thats a good thing bc the emotional impact may have given me a heart attack ha.

4. Lusong Gunboat (~50 ft deep) was on the shallower end which gave it better visibility.

Diving and history are 2 of my obsessions/fascinations outside of work. I’m so lucky to be able to experience a piece of history by literally…deep diving into it. How cool is that.
Unfortunately, I think it had to happen this way i Unfortunately, I think it had to happen this way in order for me to wake up.

Almost dying taught me that maybe success isn’t everything. As a child of Asian immigrants, this is anti everything I was taught. That mentality of always working hard and always pushing for excellence got me to where I am, and I am forever grateful for that, but at the same time…I am plagued with never knowing when to stop because I am never satisfied.

Here’s to figuring out how to be content in 2026.

Happy new year everyone!

Merry Christmas! I hope you’re spending the day re Merry Christmas! I hope you’re spending the day resting, laughing, eating well, and doing it all while wrapped in something cozy. What are your holiday traditions?

I seriously CANNOT believe another Christmas is here…what is even happening!? I’m trying to savor every moment but my mind is always in the future so life moves by too quickly. Definitely something I need to get serious about next year, which begins…in a week!?!? 🫣

Wishing you a beautiful holiday and rest of 2025!

Japan. Probably the number one shocker was learnin Japan. Probably the number one shocker was learning that public trashcans are NOT a thing. And yet, the city is SO clean!

It was incredible to watch one of the densest cities in the world operate with such high efficiency and cleanliness. As I was admiring the organized chaos of Tokyo, I kept thinking that such a society is possible only if every individual lives by and respects the same rules. It’s inevitable for me to compare my own experience living in the U.S. vs being a visitor in Japan, but REAL TALK whyyyyy is it so hard for people to use public trash cans when they’re literally on every corner!?

Between grinding our own matcha in Uji, finally trying all the viral foods I’ve been seeing on IG for YEARS in Tokyo and Osaka, being head-butted by a deer in Nara (no actually), and making a game out of trying to find trash cans, I really enjoyed wandering aimlessly through the streets of Japan with @Samlivits. Exploring in the rain made it all the more romantic, especially among the cobblestones streets of Kyoto, even though I was complaining about being cold every 5 seconds.

Arigato gozaimasu Japan!
Been loving matcha since skinny jeans were still i Been loving matcha since skinny jeans were still in and it wasn’t until now that I got to grind my own matcha in the matcha capital of the world: Uji, Japan 🍵

As a part of my morning ritual, I whisk matcha and pour it into a glass cup with oat milk and agave and sip on it while stretching (and checking slack messages) before my workout. I honestly don’t feel complete without my matcha latte to start the day!

This was the matcha grinding experience at the Chazuna Museum in Uji. The instructor was so lovely and even asked if @samlivits and I were on our honeymoon because we were giving honeymoon energy I guess 🥰
