7 Things You Need To Do Before The New Year

Can you believe it’s almost 2021?! WHAT?! It’s really weird how this year seems like it flew by, but at the same time seriously dragged on. Either way, 2020 has definitely been one for the books.

I think we’re all ready for a fresh start.

But before the New Year arrives, let’s talk about how we can prepare for it!

Reflect on the past year

This might not be quite as fun this year as some other years but… 2020 still had plenty of positives and it’s good to reflect! Think about:

  • Goals you made and the progress you made
  • Things you didn’t quite get to
  • Any unexpected accomplishments you made
  • Your favorite memories
  • Things you learned
  • Things you were grateful for

And anything else you find important! How did you grow this year?!

Make some goals for the New Year

Keep your momentum going!

How do you want to KEEP growing in 2021?! What things do you want to work on? This does not have to be fitness-related. New Year’s resolutions don’t always have to be about weight loss, running half marathons, and drinking more water.


But if you’ve made the same fitness goals year after year, maybe it’s time to change them up a bit. Your goals for the year can be as big or small as you want them to be.

Take a break

Think of some ways you can relax! Maybe you can take some time off of work, or take a few days off from working out. Doing a little social media detox might feel amazing, too!

Anything to help yourself reset and recharge. We all need it every now and then, especially after a year of working hard and after the holiday hustle.

Organize your space

My house is always a chaotic MESS after the holidays. That gap between the holidays and New Years is a great time to get the decorations put away, and do a little organizing while you’re at it!

Make the most of your cleaning/organizing sesh by setting aside some things to donate too!

Trust me. Starting the year with a fresh, organized space will set the tone to hit the ground running in 2021. And if your goals for the year include decluttering or changing up your space, you’ll already have a head start!

If you’re not in the mood to physically clean (don’t blame you), organize something like your email inbox (yikes) or the 15,000 pictures in your phone 😉

Revamp your budget

I know, I know. Budgeting never sounds fun. But this is a good time to think about it!

It doesn’t have to be anything too deep. Just take the time to think about your income, spending, things you would like to save for (a big trip, a project at home, a new car, etc.) and some small adjustments you could make to make those things happen! There are TONS of apps that help with this too and you’d be surprised at how the smallest changes can relieve some serious stress!

Check in with loved ones

You might not be seeing as many family and friends this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t connect and catch up! Unfortunately, the holidays are already a sad time for some people. The added distance that 2020 has put between all of us is making it even more important to reach out and find new ways to stay in touch.

So check in. Set up the Zoom calls with friends or family you haven’t seen in awhile. Send holiday cards (who doesn’t love snail mail?!). You might even realize you needed the socialization more than you knew! Some good laughs with your fave people is always a good thing.

Commit to a positive mindset

Know this: 2021 is going to be AMAZING.

Commit to it. Manifest the year that you want, and make it happen!

    Cassy! I have a question….my upper belly has not always been this big like-I breath right during workouts, I drink water-what’s the problem?! I’m like-confused on why I’m having this problem and the internet is not helping at all! I wanna know from you what should I do about it and how to have a flat stomach…like you have
