Hey POPsters!!

Happy National Oatmeal Day! Yum yum yum. Oatmeal is one of my fave breakfasts…so filling, warm, and cozy. Makes me feel happy. I created this super easy and very nutritious oatmeal recipe yesterday just for you. Here’s what you’ll need for my Cran-Apple Peach Oatmeal with Honey Drizzle:

INGREDIENTS:

– 1 small peach – diced

– 1 small apple – cored and sliced

– 1/2 cup dry rolled or quick oats

– 3/4 cup almond milk

– Some honey drizzle

– 1 TBS dried cranberries

– Dash or Cinnamon or Pumpkin Pie Spice

DIRECTIONS:

1. Dice your peach into small chunks and slice your apple. Then sautee them on medium-high heat (with some type of oil like coconut oil) for a few min until slightly golden.

2. Meanwhile heat your oats and almond milk in the microwave for 1-2 min depending on how intense your oven is.

3. Take the cooked oatmeal out, mix the diced peaches in. Then top with the apple slices. Dash with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice and sprinkle with dried cranberries! Drizzle with honey for extra sweetness if desired.

THE VERDICT?

Yum yum yum in my tum. You will love this quick, easy, and tasty fall breakfast recipe. Sauteeing the fruits REALLY bring out their ultra sweet and succulent flavors.

Also, I am sorry about the new Monday video not loading on time. I was having MAJOR technical issues with the file and it is just uploading right now to Youtube and it’s Tuesday already! Eek. Oh well, life happens I suppose. I hope everyone got my message to do the Train Like a Beast Look Like a Beauty workout as a substitute!

Are you guys ready for #NOVEMBURN??? We’re almost there. A couple more days plus Halloween and we’re in month 11 of the year!!!! I cannot believe this. The holidays are coming up! Insanium I say. Insanium. I am not ready!

Tried this oatmeal Cassey created on my bday, it was really yummy. Today, I created my own oatmeal, that I shall call CinnaBerry peanut butter chia oatmeal. I should work on that name, it’s more like a sentence than a title, LOL. Anyway, it was soooooooo good. Without further ado, I give you CinnaBerry PB chia oatmeal…..
1 pack (weight control) brown sugar instant oatmeal
1 measured to the line of the oatmeal bag of water
    4 frozen large black berries
    A handful of cranberries
    1 TBSP of cinnamon
    1 TBSP of chia seed
1 TBSP of all natural peanut butter
1/4 cup of almond or coconut milk

Prepare: Mix all ingredients in a bowl, except for the milk, stir.
Cook: Heat in the microwave for 2 min.
    Add milk, stir, and enjoy.

I just tried this and it’s amazing! It would be even better with steel cut oats but for something quicker it’s great. I never would’ve thought of sauteeing my fruit. Thank you! New favorite!

If you want a whole list of yummy oatmeal’s stove cooked and baked than check out the oatmeal artist its a blog dedicated to oatmeal. From there you can find links to other blogs. If you can could you tell me what protein you use in your pancakes? and which ones you recommend that aren’t to pricey? thanks 🙂

    Hey Cassey-

First off, love your posts, your workouts and everything that you do. You demand a lot from us but you give a lot too and that’s what a good friend/coach/trainer is there for! You da bomb.
Secondly, I want to ask about your microwave usage. There are lots of theories out there that say microwaves kill most nutrients in foods and personally, I do my best to stay away from them. You don’t have any hesitance? I love your cheap clean eats.. but I’d love to see you steer away from the microwave every once in a while 🙂 What’s your thought on microwaves suckin out all the goodness?
    Thanks for everything Cassey!!

Hi there. Some nutritional value is lost in all methods of cooking. But a study conducted by CNN actually shows that food cooked in the microwave actually lost fewer nutrients than food cooked using other methods. I believe the article states that this is due to the shorter cooking time in the microwave than say baking for example. Hope this helped and good luck!!

P.S. – Here is the link to the article if you’d like to check it out for yourself! 🙂 http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/21/health/upwave-microwaving-food/

  14. <3 THANK YOU for not adding straight up sugar to this dish! 🙂 I remember when Quaker Oats was trying to promote itself as being healthy… Oh wait, it still does, but it really shouldn't – the second ingredient: SUGAR! However, I must admit, when I was younger, I was a SUCKER for Maple Brown Sugar 😉
But you can easily make this by adding cinnamon, stevia and maple extract to oats!

P.S. It really grinds my gears when people post pics in the “recipe swap” but do not include the recipe! come on people, don’t be lazy! LoL

when blueberries were in season i would just make 1/2 cup oats with 1/4 cup blueberries and 2 Tbs sliced almonds. Lately I have been making 1/2 cup oats, 2 Tbs dried cranberries & pecans. soooo yummy! i love oats and usually either make a bowl with the mixed fruit and nuts or cassey’s banana oat cookies and add 2 Tbs dried cranberries and almonds. i came up with a new recipe and posted on the app – almond joy banana oat cookies: 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup coconut, 1 Tbs cocoa, 2 Tbs sliced almonds. the possibilities are ENDLESSS!!!

  17. Steph says:

Thanks for this recipe Cassey! I LOVE oatmeal and am always looking for new combinations. I was just wondering:
    – What kind of honey do you use? Raw, or the regular store-bought (pasteurized) kind, or other? /What would you recommend? 🙂
    – What kind of dried cranberries do you use? I know stuff like Ocean Spray’s Craisins have a TON of added sugar in them and are not good for you at all… are there any “good” dried cranberry brands out there??

    xx Steph

  22. Kelly says:

I’m sorry but no matter how hard I try, how matter recipes I’ve made, I still can’t like oatmeal. This may sound strange but I prefer the texture of uncooked, overnight oats better. Well, I still can’t have them for more than 3 days a week anyway. Here in Asia we eat savoury dishes for breakfast, so oatmeal is not really my type …

    1. jackie.o says:

Have you ever tried steel cut oats? They have a bit of a different texture and they are REALLY good!

  23. Ayla says:

I like to mix oatmeal with canned pumpkin, cinnamon, and honey. Like a mini pie 🙂

  24. Alisia says:

This recipe looks amazing! I love oatmeal and I’m always looking for new recipes, this is perfect! I will have to give it a try sometime this week. Happy Tuesday!

  25. Julia says:

I must try this! I’ve really been getting into oatmeal lately and always up for new things to add to it! Thanks for sharing!

  26. Ann-Kathrin says:

I eat oatmeal almost everyday. I switch it up by just adding different kinds of fruits, mostly banana, apple, raisins, other dried fruit, and top it with different nuts and seeds. I always add flax seeds to it for that extra fiber! Dash of cinnamon, gingerbread spice, cocoa powder… you cann do anything with oatmeal! Just be creative and use your imagination 😉 No need for recipes.

  27. I’ve seen so many recipes lately that involve sautéing apples…I guess I need to try one considering I usually get stuck eating the same few things for breakfast every morning!

  28. Christina says:

I don’t normally eat oatmeal because I don’t really know whether to make it sweet or savoury – or what to put in it, but now that I’ve seen this, I’m definitely going to try this for breakfast tomorrow morning (: Thank you Cassey!

  29. Anna says:

That sounds so good! My staple breakfast is oatmeal with bananas and peanut butter! I put the banana into the oatmeal before microwaving it, so it gets all hot and sweet as well.

A few yummy variations I’ve tried are adding a little bit of coconut milk (yum!), some cottage cheese, or then some honey for times when the bananas aren’t ripe and sweet enough.

    1. Kelly says:

I like to make my overnight oats, then in the morning top it up with coconut cream.. ah It tastes like eating a bowl of pudding oh so delish.
Still, I can’t force myself to like oatmeal 🙁

  30. Sarah says:

Hi Cassey! You made a wee typo in your point 2: Meanwhile heat your oats and almond milk in the microwave for 1-2 min depending on how intense your [[oven]] is. haha but it looks sooooo good! Will try tomorrow morning 🙂
