This Protein Popcorn is the Perfect Salty Sweet Snack

Protein popcorn = perfect post-workout snack. The sweetness from the protein powder combined with the salty popcorn makes it taste like kettle corn.

protein popcorn

I lovvveee a good crunchy snack. For me, texture is LIFE! And popcorn? Omg it’s the ultimate.

Did you know you can make popcorn with protein powder?! I know it sounds weird but trust me… it’s GOOD. The sweetness from the protein combined with the salty popcorn makes it taste like kettle corn.

This Protein Popcorn recipe uses the Chocolate Shake flavor of Sculpt + Debloat Protein Powder, but I make mine using the Sweet Cream. Either way is super good and makes it a little easier and fun to meet your protein goals!

Snack on this protein popcorn during your next movie night, on a road trip, or while you WFH.

Don’t be intimidated by homemade popcorn!

I promise it’s super easy! And fun! Just follow the instructions and stick to medium heat no matter how badly you want to crank it up to high to make them pop faster. TRUST ME. Burnt popcorn is ew and makes your house smell and it’s just all around bad. Medium heat and patience will get you the perfect pop.

It will take them a minute to start popping! Once they do, stay close to the pot and give them a little shake every 30 seconds or so to help them heat and pop evenly.

How do you know when it’s done? You’ll notice the popping slowing wayyy down! Once there’s a gap of two to three seconds between pops, it’s probably done.

Flavor options

When you make this and love it, play around with some of these other fun flavor combos!

  • Sweet Cream protein + cinnamon
  • Sweet Cream protein + sugar-free white chocolate chips + sprinkles
  • Chocolate Shake protein + PB2

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Place 3 tablespoons of ghee/oil in a large 10L/10qt lightweight pot over medium heat.
  • When the ghee has almost melted, add kernels, shake quickly to spread across the base, then cover with the lid. The kernels will start popping after a minute or so.
  • Shake briefly once after 30 seconds. When the popping stops, immediately pour popcorn into a large bowl.
