The answer to why I haven’t been posting workout videos…

It’s true. I haven’t posted a workout video in a long time. And you know what? It’s been nice.

Nice because it’s the first time in 13 years of being online that no one has said something mean about my body.

Posting that first video in 2009, I was so scared that someone would comment on my form. But it wasn’t my technique they were after, it was the way I looked. It’s sad that what started out as me very simply teaching Pilates to my students turned into an open forum for body shaming.

Why don’t you have abs?
Why is your butt flat?
Why do you have hip dips?
You’re getting fat.
You’re too skinny.
You don’t look like other trainers.
Where’s your muscle?
Now you look like a man.
Your workouts must not work if you look like that.
If you cared about your career, you’d lose weight.

Stepping away momentarily from the fitness industry has made me realize what a toxic environment I had been living in daily. No more people pushing their ideologies down my throat and telling me how I should look or how I should eat or how stupid I am for not listening to them. In fact, this hiatus has given me the space and breathing room to re-nurture my relationship with food, fitness, and my body.

With the negative chatter silenced, I can now focus on what my body is telling me I need. Not what other people are yelling at me about.

I’ve been having so much fun spending my time driving the product development forward as both POPFLEX and Blogilates brands are growing rapidly.

I’m in a major design groove and feel so in alignment. These days, it feels weird to not be afraid to open my comments. Before I’d have to take a deep breath and brace my body for the hurtful and sometimes hateful comments.

Anyway, here’s my first workout video in a looooong time. Let’s see how this goes.

I hope you get to come back to it again! I would so greatly miss your workout videos if they were to end permanently!

  2. Sandra P says:

I always looked forward to new weekly videos. I miss your current event chats during your workouts. I still cannot talk normal while working out. I miss seeing you! I am forever grateful that you continue to post the workout calendar. I hope you come back soon. Thank you!

  3. Bego says:

We all miss you Cassey!!! But I’m so glad that you are doing what you love and just know that you are an inspiration to me. Every day I do your workouts and listen to your words of encouragement to get through them. You truly reflect so much positive energy

  4. Rook says:

Completely understand that- I was wondering why you hadn’t posted any on YouTube in a while, when you still update the playlists!

Which I’d like to thank you for, by the way. I have been getting back into working out after years of being completely out of it and I came back to your channel without hesitation because you always inspired me to be the best me, and your encouragement and positive energy inspired me. I’m so grateful to you for all you’ve done for me for ten years at this point!

Congrats for getting away from the toxicity, and I’m glad you’re thriving 🙂

Your blog is a breath of fresh air in the overwhelming world of skincare. The simplicity in your recommendations and the emphasis on self-care make me excited to revamp my routine.

  6. Amy says:

Cassey, I’m really proud of you for listening to your inner self and doing what you feel is best. You’ve inspired me for years and I’m really thankful for your videos. I own a small dance company and I’ve also struggled with negativity like you have. Something that’s helped me is to have other people in my life who are not as emotionally attached to the business filter things out for me. They’ll read the angry email and if there’s something important I need to know they’ll pass that information onto me in a loving way. Anyway, I just wanted to pass that strategy onto you if it’s helpful at all because it’s really worked for me. Wishing you all the best xoxo

I’m happy that you’ve been so successful in your design endeavors. However, I subscribed to your channel for workouts. Obviously you don’t owe us anything at all (I love and appreciate you no matter what!!) but if there’s never going to be another YouTube workout video I at least want to know that so I can stop hoping haha. Again, this is not hate AT ALL. I’ve been a fan of your content since you barely had any subscribers. I totally understand that brands change directions but I never saw an official statement saying workout videos are done. All I can find is this post and it says “momentarily stepping away from the fitness industry.”

NOTE: If there already is a statement somewhere saying there’s no more workout videos can someone please tell me? I haven’t seen anything!

  8. Christopher says:

I’m glad to hear that you’ve reconnected with yourself 🙂 It sounds like your mind, body, and soul are coming together for the first time in years. Thanks for the videos, they were a huge inspiration with my own fitness journey #PIIT. I’m looking forward to the amazing things you will continue to accomplish!

  9. Unknown says:

I’m so sorry it took a toll on you! I’m a little sad that you don’t make YouTube videos anymore because I miss your happy energy vibes. I sure don’t want to see another idol ended up committing suicide. Not everyone can take these negative comments. That explains why several ran into depression and worse yet ending their lives. I wish you all the best and thank you for contributing all those motivating videos. I hate the people that gave you negative comments and hurting you like that. You don’t deserve that.

  10. Dawn says:

Thank you for all that you did for me with your workouts. You are a beautiful soul. I am sorry for the pain heartless ignorant people caused you.

  11. MNC says:

I think you’re so inspiring and I love doing your videos. I love your upbeat attitude and my husband even comes in and says how he likes hearing the upbeat attitude.

Thank you and thanks for taking care of yourself and I hope more is to come. There are far more people who love your videos and all you do.

  12. Steph says:

Cassey you are such a an inspiration! I enjoy doing your videos with my 2 kids. I have had 2 c sections and I am amazed at how pop pilates has helped me get my strength back. Screw the haters! You’re doing amazing. <3

  13. JW says:

Enjoy your life! Your videos have changed the way I exercise and got me through the pandemic with my friends. We meet on Zoom every Sunday to do workout videos together.
    take care!

  14. Suz says:

Good for you, girl! People complain because they can, but you have the power to take it or leave it. Disregard the naysayers, and DO YOU! You have posted many years’ worth of amazing video content that will make a difference to anyone’s body, mind, and soul! Repeat videos will deliver the same results as new workout routine videos. Do people really want to improve their body and health or simply want be entertained by you? If it’s the latter, they should look elsewhere. I look to your videos daily regardless of when you published them to build a stronger and more healthy bdy. So grateful I found you as I continue my journey to look and feel amazing in my 50s!

  15. Katerina says:

You’ve changed my life! I’m forever grateful to you! Love from Greece!

  16. Vivian says:

    Dear Cassey,
I totally understand what you had to go through and am so happy that you decided to take time for yourself and your products. But please do know that the supportive comments always outweigh the negative ones, and there are more people who love and support you than those who only want to troll. I have followed you since day one and I have to say you have totally transformed my body and my mind inside and out. I have become a better person because of you. I have been waiting for your next video patiently since the day you stopped posting, please take your time but do come back to us!
Happy new year and all the best!

  17. Nic says:

I lost 25+ lbs during the covid lock down thanks to your youtube pilates videos. Your workout videos changed my life – they made excited to keep working out. I miss logging onto youtube and finding your new uploaded pilates video. Please please please reconsider posting more videos!!

    1. Athena says:

Me too!! I lost 30lbs and got my dream body during the lockdown and Cassey was my virtual support through it all. I could not have done it without her videos. I still watch the old videos from time to time but since she stopped releasing videos I’ve had to look elsewhere so I can “switch things up”. It sucks because nothing resonated and motivated me more than Cassey. I really hope she gets back into YouTube one day. Or even uploads to the Body by Blogilates app to avoid comments while still posting. Anyway, wishing everyone an amazing 2023. Let’s get it!!!!

  18. You are beautiful inside and out. People are mean and will always be mean to others especially when the one posting negative comments is insecure. You have brought a bright light into my life. I really need to get back to getting ME back. My life has not turned out the way I thought with a divorce and children not speaking to me. I, like you, have spend years helping others and feel that negative forces are working towards removing the light. You stay strong and be the light in this world. Do not let others insecurities bring you down.

  19. Abi says:

I do love your workout vids and would love for you to keep posting them! Even if you have to turn off comments because people think so badly about themselves they have to put others down for them to feel better! I cannot believe and amazing human like you would get hate comments!

  20. Andi says:

I hope you go back to YouTube (even if you do have to disable the comments because people are indeed insane). I just found you by utter chance and I’d love to see all of your stuff continue! (I also don’t have instagram or ‘personal’ accounts, so). Anyway, Love your work no matter where you are!
You’re fabulous and upbeat and thank you for helping my disabled butt figure out ways I can fight off unhealthy sedentary!

  21. Noe says:

I love your rutines, they look light but are very hard and you are so creative, your designes are amazing!

  22. BREA says:

What I always liked about your vids is that you pushed getting active and moving, not body image. I loved that the majority of your goals were not unobtainable goals of vanity. I know that my thighs will always touch, I will prob never be a size 6 again, and I’m ok with that b/c I can run stairs w/o being out of breath, I have great strength, more energy, and I’ve learned to have a healthy lifestyle. In the age of instagram these are the messages we need to push to our young boys and girls. You are on the right track girl!

  23. Shelley says:

Love your videos! Is there a way to post nes videos and not accept comments on them? I have no idea how social media works? But would love more videos from you. You are so talented on many levels!

  24. Mariana Márquez says:

Querida Casey, te has ganado mí más grande admiración, respeto y cariño.

  25. Jenny says:

Sending love♥︎. I 100% understand how you’ve been feeling because I don’t think I could ever post my body publicly to a large audience and handle the criticism. Even the comments not trying to be mean but still feeling the need to point out what may be huge insecurities is scary and sad. Or forming new insecurities for things I didn’t even think about before. You are a great role model and so inspiring to me, and I understand you’re also human with your own insecurities, “flaws” (personal perception that is), and just thank you for sharing the bad along with the amazing.

  26. Lourdes says:

Hola Cassey! So sorry to hear that that is the reason why you were not posting videos. Hope you don’t let those comments stop you. You are wonderful and a motivation to sooo many people (me included of course). Remember that the reason why people is mean is because they are lacking something and think making others feel as bad as they feel, will make things less awful for them. Is not really about you. As they say “what the eyes don’t see, the heart won’t grieve over”, if you want to control a bit more what kind of comments are posted, do it. Is not being immature, is being wise. Thank you so much for all the videos by the way!

  27. Kylie says:

I had noticed but honestly had assumed it was a conscious decision as a content creator and a business woman and am sad to read that it has caused so much stress. Do what makes you feel well and that’s how you will know it’s the right call

  28. Anonymous says:

Cassie, no pressure to post workout videos if you’re not ready. Keep in mind, if you wait for all the haters to be gone you will never post another video again. You shouldn’t wait for something that won’t happen. You have saved my life, Cassie (I mean that literally. I almost ended up in the hospital with an ED. I managed to snap out of it when I found you) I wish you the best. ❤

  29. Tracie says:

I’ve not worked out for 3 years almost due to depression and anxiety. I used to work out 5 days a week. Some days I feel quilty and I miss it but I am still not in the headspace. Yes I know it’s supposed to help but you’ve got to be motivated enough to do it in the first place.
I have no idea what this thing is about having to have a ballon for an arse! I’ve always had a flat one …and liked it!
    You look beautiful…however you look!!
    You’re a winner.
People just like to put others down because they are lacking in their lives.

  30. Janelle says:

I’m glad you a feeling better after stepping away. That said, I do really really miss your workout videos! You’re so positive and motivational. Makes the workout fun. Perhaps if you feel comfortable, in the future you could post with the comments turned off.

  31. Camie says:

I took a break for a bit while life threw some challenges my way. I just redid some of your videos that I loved from years ago and started scrolling thru all the new things you have created since my break began. I think you are amazing and your body shape from the (your) beginning has been my goal all along. I was so happy to find someone with a similar body shape as mine that made workouts fun and goals attainable. I’m glad you took a break and wish you the best as you continue to find and feel your value beyond what you do for so many here. Thank you for creating memorable and effective workouts. I look forward to enjoying all of them again!

  32. elena says:

That’s understandable Cassey! I personally don’t mind that much because you’ve already made SO MANY workout vids that are free and accessible on Youtube. Plus, you’re still making workout calendars for us to follow; that’s more than enough for me. On the other hand, glad that you’re in a design groove! Could you consider making workout sweatpants? I’m not a huge fan of tight-fitting clothes and am curious on how you’d design sweatpants with a blogilates flair to it.

    1. MLisa says:

I would love this too! I don’t wear leggings, ever.

  33. Jennifer Fleuret says:

I am so sorry that people felt the need to be rude and mean to you. Thank you for all that you do!

  34. Jessica says:

Totally get it Cassie, I’ve been watching your youtube workouts for years and never really understood why someone would comment on a WORKOUT video at all other than to say it was a good workout. Im just happy we have the calendars still and all the older videos to work with. Thats enough for me. Much love

  35. charli says:

    Hi Cassie,
I totally understand why you haven’t been posting workout videos and I’m so happy that you have finally mended your relationship with your body, mind, and food. I am so unbelievably happy for you because sometimes it can take a long time for that relationship to become healthy again. But… I’m sorry there is a but… first of all, don’t ever feel like you have to apologize but I am just wondering if you will end up coming back to posting workout videos. If you don’t I and all of your loyal fans completely understand why and we will stand by you throughout it all. Just letting you know how much you have helped us all!!! I love you so much!!!

    1. Gemma says:

I agree! Especially since it all started with pilates…. BlogILATES 🙂 the good old days 🙂 also, the new designs are very creative and cute! keep up the great work everyone!
