Red Carpet Fashion Lookin’ Fit & Fabulous!
Red Carpet Fashion Lookin’ Fit & Fabulous!
The most epic, most retweeted selfie in the history of the internet.
Hey guys!
Hope you had a fantastic start to your week! Yesterday morning, I woke up and taught an early POP Pilates class at Equinox then had a sweaty gym sesh afterwards followed by a photoshoot of some new Blogilates gear coming your way! I think you will love the new clothing. It’s all made from a soft slub fabric that is so comfy to wear!
Anyway, let’s talk Oscars for a sec, okay? You may have seen or even joined in the conversation with me on Sunday, but if you didn’t I was tweeting all about the red carpet with celeb blogger Perez Hilton and Chobani. We were giving out some of our own awards, naturally sweetened by Chobani’s Simply 100 Greek yogurt. Yesterday morning all I could watch on my Stairmaster TV was Oscars Fashion Galore!! Many of you may not know this, but since I was 10 I’ve been keeping binders and binders of hand drawn evening gown designs. My dream as a little girl was to one day design a dress for the red carpet. Those dreams got shattered when I was 16…but now I am so happy that through fitness and Blogilates, I am able to design again. Functional, fashionable activewear. Can’t wait to debut the line I’ve been working on now for over a year! I mixed feminine silhouettes with sporty accents. You will love and I will tell you more later 🙂
But back to the Oscars now.
All the stars looked fantastic, but you know they were prepping for the red carpet many weeks before. It’s like training for a big sporting event!! The dress, hair, and makeup are just the embellishments. The confidence and the glow come from the the diet and the training they do. To lose about 10 lbs, the celebs start training/dieting 5-6 weeks out. If a star just wants to tone up and lose a few extra pounds, approximately 10 days out will do – especially for the ones that are fit all year round.
It’s no different than what we have to do! It takes work and discipline. Anyone trying to sell you a quick fix is selling you guaranteed failure in the long run. Eat clean, and when you work out, work out like you mean it. You have my #MIGHTYMARCH calendar to follow and the many free meal plans on my blog to follow. You know what to do 🙂
Anyway, here are the people who I thought looked totes fab on the Red Carpet…
Lupita Nyong’o was the belle of the ball. Super sculpted and trim, she was a princess in her Prada and I loved it.
Also very princess were Johnny Weir’s shoes. Can we say move over Cinderella!!?
Look at that perfect Red Carpet pose! I love the ageless Charlize Theron here in her long black Dior gown.
It’s Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive. The nude tulle and the beading are majestic. I like how the sleeves are see-through and how the dress boasts a high neckline, but you can’t even tell. Super classy.
But my absolute fave dress of the night though belonged to Portia de Rossi in Naeem Khan. Those beautiful flower cutouts are just so intricate and mesmerizing.
Perez picked Lupita for “Simply Stunning”, but my vote goes to Portia. What do you think?
Pharrell showed off his toned calves in a shorts tuxedo. It was weird, but kinda awesome. Perez and I agreed on the next award.
He was “Simply Bold!”
Robin Roberts was glowing with confidence and happiness. But can we take a moment to notice those arms!!?? She’s a breast cancer survivor and a super strong woman.
The “Simply Buff & Beautiful” award hands down belonged to Ms. Roberts!
The last two categories were awarded to the “Simply Delicious” trio of: Matthew McConaughey, Camila and Mom; and the “Simply Iconic” Amy Adams whose navy dress was timeless on Sunday night.
Ok and can we talk Jennifer Lawrence for a sec? Our Katniss showed up in scarlet red and looked iconic in her Dior Couture. Then, she pulls a J-Law.
The lovely actress and positive body image advocate fell. It was the cone’s fault. Then she got back up and laughed. That’s what we love about Jennifer.
What can we learn here? Life isn’t about how tall you can stand…it’s about how you get up after you fall down…and how you can keep moving on. That is the beauty of your character. This is called resilience. Failure is part of life and you need to stop trying to avoid it. Rather, live life to the fullest and embrace your failures. They teach you to be smarter and stronger and they are a part of the learning process of life. Don’t be afraid to fall and you will surely succeed. I promise.
Also, another thing. Remember that epic selfie pic I posted at the top of this blog post? Here’s a look from a little farther away.
Turns out this selfie pic wasn’t entirely unplanned. According to WSJ, Samsung spent an estimated $20 million running ads during the Academy Awards. It wasn’t until much closer to the event that Ellen said she wanted to take selfies. The producers suggested she use a Samsung since they were the sponsors of the event. Well, didn’t Samsung get lucky! They struck social media gold because Ellen got over 3 MILLION RETWEETS as of Monday afternoon. She basically owned twitter (it went down for a bit!) and the rest of the interwebs. It was the most retweeted tweet in the history of twitter. Amazing the power of celebs when they actually want to use social media and be just like us!! Haha. This pic is so cute. I love it. And Angelina Jolie actually participated in something vs. standing there and looking untouchably perfect.
So anyway, hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know which celeb donned your fave look and what you think about that selfie!
Much love,
Cassey
PS: You guys know I love greek yogurt and use it in a ton of my recipes, so when Chobani called and asked me to host the Oscars twitter chat with them and Perez, I was super excited! This post was kindly sponsored by Chobani.

I think J-Law’s fall seemed fake – she wanted the public to notice her and talk as much about it as last time she fell -.- She tries WAAAAY too hard to be known as the clumsy, ‘real’ girl, but her act seems so fake – and she isn’t even that great of an actress IMO
I loooooove Jennifer Lawrence’s dress! Ah! Everyone looks stunning though!!!!
Cate Blanchett won 🙂 She gave such a cute speech 🙂 Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning as always.

The Oscar selfie was for an amazing cause! Samsung was going to give $1 for every retweet she received to Ellen’s favorite charity. In the end Samsung will be donating $1.5 million dollars to the Humane Society. That’s so wonderful that something so seemingly “cliche” and “ridiculous” actually had substance.
I absolutely love Jennifer Lawrence. She is so down to earth and her attitude and way of being is so overall charming. Huge inspiration!
I have to agree with Cassey, I totally think Portia looked FABULOUS on the red carpet, with not only her dress but her hair and smile and omg she ignited magic on that piece of fabric!
I really really really loved Cate and Lupita’s dresses. So elegant and classy! They looked like two princesses.
… But I’ll be always having a crush on J-Law <3
Loved Portia’s and Lupita’s dresses! Absolutely beautiful 🙂
Jennifer Lawrence! Ahahaha! Adorable as always 🙂 Honestly love how much of an optimist she is!
Julia Robert’s face is priceless, love her haha
Great post, Cassey! The Oscars where great this year, fashion and all. I enjoyed your commentary too. You are fabulous and Im looking forward to new fun activewear to add to my Blogilates collection, YAY!
I still don’t understand what is so awesome about a bunch of people taking a picture.. maybe I am weird, but I don’t see why people fawn over celebrities and strive to be like them.. sure they have a glamorous life and nice things, but it seems to me they are always dying of drug overdoses.. If they are so great why must they seek fake and short term thrills? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy music and movies, but I simply do not understand this worshiping of celebrities..
Cassey, I love the positivity you have brought to my life since I started following you about two years ago. That’s why I’m really confused that you worked with Perez Hilton; he made his career by being a nasty bully, posting horrible, cruel, usually untrue things! Can you clarify why you chose to work with him? I would really appreciate your insight on this. (I am not trying to judge you, so I’m sorry if it comes across that way!) Thanks for all that you do. xoxo.
Agreed… he’s downright mean! I hope Cassey never participates in negative conversations with Perez. Stay above it!!
Hi Kat! Perez was simply the fashion commentator on the event. It was me along with a handful of other bloggers that contributed to the conversation. For the hour that we were tweeting, everything was kept super positive, so do not worry!
(A reply from Cassey, I am so star-struck!!!)
Thanks so much for your response, it really speaks to your character and integrity. I would never, even for a second, imagine that you would spread negativity like Perez. I can only hope that your engaging, beautiful spirit rubbed off on him! All my best xo
I know that this is late, but I completely agree with you about Perez Hilton. He’s a very nasty person. I was just wondering if anyone knew if he ever apologized to Heather Morris (from Glee) about the disgustingly unnecessary sexual things he said to her? I can’t find anything about it.
I love Jennifer so much!! total girl crush 🙂
