Fun Protein Powder Flavors

Fun Protein Powder Flavors

Oooooo yeah – so after today’s workout, I decided to head over to Max Muscle and test out some new protein powders. Right now I am using Met Rx Vanilla flavor and it’s really good. You can get that at Trader Joe’s for about $23.99. I am trying to finish up my disgusting Cytosport one from Costco. Bleh…it tastes like horrendous-ness, I can’t even describe.

So at Max Muscle I ended up trying trying this awesome Cinnamon Roll flavor that seriously BLEW MY MIND. It was so good – it was just like a milkshake! Kind of expensive though. $25 for just 1 lb or 13 servings. I did get it though because I enjoyed it so much.

Below is a powder I found on Amazon that’s twice the size for the same price and after reading reviews, it seems to be pretty good – the Cinnamon Roll flavor from Gaspari.

I enjoyed the Cinnamon Roll flavor so much that I had it like 3x yesterday. Haha, oh well. I want to experiment with muffins and pancakes. I cannot wait. I am so in love. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! This makes muscle building fun and delicious.

I am also ordering that Peanut Butter cookie flavor from Protizyme just to test out. (See above) I don’t really like the “cookie” part of it, I am afraid it will be too sweet, but there wasn’t really anything else. Well, there was one but the review said it was chalky. I do not do chalky. Uh uh.

I have these items sitting in my Amazon shopping cart now…including a huggggeeee bag of PB2!!! I am such a peanut butter freak it’s not even funny. I can’t wait to add peanut butter flavor to my shakes, muffins, and pancakes at only 45 cals for 2 TBS instead of the usual 200 cals. PB2 is basically peanuts that have had the oils and fats pressed out of them. It’s just the roasted powder left. You mix with water and voila, peanut butter. Great for when you want the flavor but not the calories. And yes guys, I know nut fats are good for you, but sometimes you already have enough healthy fats in your diet from eating things like avocados and salmon and you want to still enjoy the taste of peanut butter without overdoing it. That’s when PB2 comes to the rescue.

You can see my whole list of protein powder and pantry recommendations here or just click on the carousel thingy above.

Yay for supplement shopping! I can’t wait to get these and tell you how they taste. Super excited.

Have a fab weekend, work hard, and eat well. Remember, HARD WORK PAYS OFF. It may not be fun sometimes, it may be painful in fact. But every bit of effort you throw in there counts. Trust me guys, you’ve got this.

  1. My favorite protein is actually a cookie dough flavored casein protein.

I love making this protein fluff with it

It’s low calorie and tastes just like fluffy cookie dough!! 🙂

  3. I am oh-so-jealous of how cheap protein powder is in the US! Considering the US dollar and AU dollar are pretty much the same, it’s daylight robbery (as my Dad would say, LOL)

Hi Cassey! I wanted to suggest allstarhealth.com . I’ve used them to buy supplements for a couple of years. They have some great prices and a flat shipping fee of $5.95. They are also based in CA so the turnaround time is pretty quick. BTW, looking forward to the meetup next week!!!

    Hi,
I’d always prefer the plain, non-flavoured protein powers and instead try to flavour them myself with, cinnamon, cocoa, fruits, etc.

I just ate a little joghurt (greek/1,5% fat) with a scoop of protein powder and some coconut flakes. That helped me, because I was craving after my workout.

I just read that post from shape magazine – 6 “Healthy” Ingredients You Should Never Eat- Unfortunately, Agave Sirup was on the list. I always used that, but I buy it in organic stores. Is it better -meaning less processed and better quality – there?

I try always to use less sweeteners, especially sugars. But sometimes I just need something sweet in my oatmeal. Recently, I often used maple sirup and apple puree (Oats+apple puree+water+cinammon=>microwave for 5 mins = delicious!) Are those sweeteners OK?

What about this stuff? Apple sweetener, they sell it in german organic stores. I do not know the english name for it but I found a picture on the net: http://www.violey.com/de/rigoni-di-asiago-dolcedi-apfelsuesse_p_10303.html
Do you think this stuff is overprocessed and loaded with fructose?

I am confused about the whole sweetener topic. I try to stay away from artificial sweeteners like Stevia. What do you use? Can you make a post about this topic? Thanks…

Hi Cassie! I ordered the PB2 16oz on sale too!! Thanks for sharing. I just bought some PB from Wholefoods and it’s 200 cals per serving. They haven’t had PB2 in a while so it’s nice to order online.

    Thanks so much for sharing!!

  7. I’ve been using PB2 for over a year and love it! 🙂

Don’t try Optimum products, because although they claim to not have aspartame, they have all of the ingredients listed that make the aspartame. Dymatize is on amazon and has so many flavors. I’m trying their gourmet vanilla for recipes and smoothies, and their mocha coffee flavor with just ice. They have banana, butter cream toffee(want to try in pancakes so bad), chocolate mint(which tastes like ice cream), etc.

Hey Caissie, I’ve always wondered if I should start drinking protein shakes (and other yummy goodness made with protein powders)? Should I take it if I’m just doing cardio/pilates/light weight workouts 3x a week? Should I take it if i’m just on a restricted diet? Why did you start consuming protein powder?

  10. Ashley says:

I use the MET-RX one. I love it because after i workout i drink some and pretend like im having a delicious vanilla milkshake (but made with water haha!). so sweet! <3

I love your vids on YouTube! I’ve lost a lot of weight and am closer to my healthy goal weight thanks to you!! But my question is, can you write a blog about why protein powder is food for you. Does it help you loose weight, build muscle, give you energy etc?

    1. Heather says:

There are no magical properties about protein powder that help you build muscle, lose weight, or burn fat. It is simply a quick and efficient way to consume protein. 🙂

Casseyy!!!! You need to try out sun warrior protein powder! It’s the tastiest thing i have ever eaten in my life! Chocolate !!! It’s RAW VEGAN too. Your Fav! 80grams of protein per serving!

      1. Ayala says:

I *love* Sun Warrior- it’s brown rice protein and isolated naturally (and while it is more expensive than the one you sited here, it is comparable to most other brands’ prices that I’ve seen). They have a Raw protein that frankly I didn’t like much but their regular vanilla has 70 calories and 16 grams of protein per serving (not 80 grams, alas…)

  14. AndreeaMartin says:

Cassey i suggest you try Optimum Nutrion’s Whey Gold Standard (Double chocolate flavour) it’s been ranked the best protein, has an amazing taste and it really keeps after WO cravings away. I have it twice a day! 🙂 why go for anything but the best?

    1. blogilates says:

      I can’t eat chocolate!
