DIY Twist Back Muscle Tank + I’m in PEOPLE Magazine!

DIY Twist Back Muscle Tank + I’m in PEOPLE Magazine!

Hey guys!

WOWZA. This week has been crazy sauce. Let me catch you up!

DIY TWIST BACK TANK

I did a collaboration with Meredith Foster from Stilababe09! She is such a doll! Like LITERALLY. She even looks like one! We made a DIY Twist Back Muscle Tank together for my channel and then a Bikini Body workout on Meredith’s channel. You can view that here.

The tank is really easy to make. All you need is an oversized tshirt, scissors, fusible tape and an iron. Or if you know how to sew, then just grab a needle and thread instead of the tape and iron! Watch the video to see how to make it!

BODYPOP DEBUT COLLECTION

Okay…so as you may or may not know, BODYPOP Activewear is coming very very soon and I have been super busy trying to produce the video that will debut the collection. I just got in all the samples on Tuesday and I honestly cannot believe that there are 32 styles staring at me waiting to be modeled and worn! We’re planning the lookbook photoshoot, the filming dates, securing locations, working with some awesome talent (yup, not just me this time), using really crazy cinematic cameras, and…writing music. Yup.

I never ever thought in my life that I’d be producing and directing…a music video.

I’m just going to leave it at that. It’s my first time mostly behind the camera instead of in front of it. This is probably too much information. But I cannot contain. Eeeeee!

I just need to say I have MAJOR respect for producers because growing up, I used to not really understand what they “actually did” but boy oh boy, this is a TOUGH JOB. Coordinating a video is like a choreographing chaos. It’s such a delicate game! So if there are any producers out there reading this…you’re amazing.

The BODYPOP debut video concept has been taking over my mind for the past month. I came up with the idea in late April when I was flying up to see my parents for their birthday. It’s almost like a virus that’s taken over my brain (in a good way) and the only way to cure it is to turn these thoughts into reality.

You will be seeing what’s been infecting my mind next month. I really hope you like it.

WEIRD THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED THIS WEEK…

Ok so you think everything sounded super cheery and happy this week right? Ha. WRONG. Well don’t ever feel sad that your life “sucks” because everyone else has painted a picture of themselves in a certain way to make them look “glamorous”, “famous”, or “perfect.”

No one’s perfect.

The one thing you should know about social media is that it’s MEDIA. Like what you see on the covers of magazines or on TV, those pictures and those people look the way they do because they’ve been CAREFULLY selected by a team of executives that have decided what’s going to sell the most ads. Social media stars may not have a team of execs (well I don’t at least) but they have a certain brand or image they want to portray. So, most likely no one’s going to show their bad days or their ugly selfies on their accounts. (These are days all of us have!) Your feed is instead brimming with macarons, duck faces, bubble butts, and flat abs.

My point is that what you see on Instagram or Facebook is only one side to the story. It’s not 100% reality.

Which segways me perfectly into some disasters that have happened this week!

Umm well…

I finally was able to find someone to help me with all the fashion projects I’m juggling. We were working really well together. Then yesterday he told me he was leaving to go work for another designer.

WHAT.

It felt like an unexpected break up. I’ve never really dealt with anything like this before so it was weird and I wasn’t really sure how to react. So I did what I always do when I’m confused…I smiled and congratulated him. I mean, I’m happy he’s found something he feels more passionate about. Just like love and relationships, with careers you’ve just got to keep trying until you find the right one. So, the journey continues for me.

And the other thing that was crazy was the whole producing of this BODYPOP video. Sometimes the ideas in your head can’t turn into reality because of rigid laws and restrictions. Let’s just say I had to rewrite a whole scene (one that has been engrained in my head since the conception of the story) and find a whole new location because of last minute State of California conflicts. It was pretty scary. Thought my entire shoot was going to be canceled. It wasn’t like it was going to be shut down for just me…it’d be for ALL the people involved.

Oh and though I taught POP Pilates twice this week at Equinox, I had no time to workout for myself! It’s been sad times. Once I finish producing and filming this video, perhaps I can have my life back! Ha!

Anyway, even though weird things happened this week, I know that everything happens for a reason. We must TRUST OURSELVES and continue to give our best in all that we do. That way, there’s no room for regret 🙂

I saw you in people magazine last week ans since I use fitness blender about 4 times a week which was also featured I figured I should check u out. So I did! I did about 4 of ur short workouts and my sides are sooo sore from ur oblique twists it’s insane and I’m loving it! Can’t wait to keep feelin’ the burn! Thanks!

  2. Vivi says:

I see your squat challenge in that magazine… which makes me want to request another one! I loooooove that one (even tho the song bothers me to no end) but it’s not available on mobile devices, and thus not available on AppleTV, which is how I sometimes do your workouts. If you could do another squat challenge that can be allowed for mobile (and thus AppleTV) it would b soooooo appreciated.

Saw you on TV on Friday, good job! 🙂

    Hi Cassey,
I just want to say that you are absolutely amazing and I try admire you and everything you do! I have only been a popster since last year but I find it amazing all the lengths you have gone for our online community! And putting out calendars every month for us for FREE and continuing to produce New workout videos for us is just so awesome! Because of you I quit my gym membership.. I saw instant results with Blogilates! I was at a complete plateau and working out was becoming boring. So THANK YOU!!! I’m so sorry to hear about your rough patch that you went through this past week! But because of this you will become stronger and like you said “things do happen for a reason”. Keep your head up!! 🙂

Also I’m so excited about BodyPop ever since you mentioned it I’ve just been waiting for it to become available. I promised myself I would buy a few things as soon as it’s available in your store. 🙂

Hope your having a wonderful weekend! Just remember us POPSTERS will always be here for ya! And you are truly appreciated. 🙂 Much love and respect! <33

Hi guys, I’m new to working out and eating healthy in general.
I’m overweight right now- I’ve never been overweight before and I’m scared (after a bad breakup, I found myself in a vicious binge cycle). I’m starting to take the first steps towards losing weight now, but does anyone have any encouragement or tips they’d like to share? Honestly this is really hard for me because I’m super self conscious about it and I’ve been wearing loose clothes to try to hide behind, but I’m tired of feeling groggy and tired all the time because of my poor eating habits.

    Thanks so much
    xoxo

    1. Vivi says:

Just remember that what you’re doing is for you. It is so much easier gaining the weight then losing it (and I am so guilty of this, I also have some binging habits and the only thing you can do is be mindful of it) and finding motivation can be really hard, especially when you are more of less doing it on your own. (Internet friends are great… but they aren’t reliable workout buddies, not that I’ve had reliable ones IRL either. :P)

My advice if you’re using Cassey’s videos is find ones you really like doing, and make sure you set aside some time to do them everyday, whenever is best for you (for me it’s late evening…) Incorporate variation as needed (legs one day, arms the next, etc). The calendars are great, and useful when you don’t have any idea where to starts, but I find I am less likely to do exercises if I’m not enjoying them.

And I will note that I understand how you feel. I was on a really good 6 month roll and then plummeted into a pit of misery for no particular reason. Try to find motivation to start up again has been hard, especially when life is saying otherwise.

  7. Julia says:

OMG cassey ! where is your outfit from in the beginning of this video ! the floral crop top and shorts set I’m in LOVE with it !!!

  8. RN Kathy says:

Congratulations on People magazine! You’re in the big-time now! And I love, love, love that yoga mat—that’s going to be my new mantra!

  9. Lily says:

Cassey, what happened to the Victoria’s Secret Model Abs workout? I can’t find it on youtube, under your abs tag here, or under your Victoria’s Secret series tag! It was my favorite video! I’m so sad 🙁 Did you take it down?

    1. Christine says:

It got removed because of the music she used (copyright) I also see that The Fox Challenge has been removed as well. I hope her other workouts don’t get taken down too!

  10. Len says:

I love the tank, its so cute. I’m going to have to try that out for myself.
Where is the sports bra from in the video?it looks super cute.
Well done on getting into people magazine.

  11. Shana says:

I seriously don’t know how you do it, Cassey!! You’re always doing so many different things at once, it’s such an incredible skill you have to be able to balance so many amazing things. I’m so envious of you directing a music video!! It’s my dream job, can’t wait to see it. Huge congrats on getting in People, I bet that was an awesome feeling! Please check out my blog if you have time: http://hippotohot.blogspot.com =)

Cassey, I’m sorry to hear that about the person who has been helping you, really. Although, we, POPsters, we will never EVER leave your side! We will support you throughout as you are helping us to become ourselves, and to become better. Congrats on being featured on People! That is amazing. You reached this far, and your successes will leave EVERYONE speechless.

I hope you are having a good day so far, love. I know this comment must be something little or small, but I just wanted you to know that you’re amazing. We will support you no matter what! Thank you so much for helping us all.

Lots of love from all of us!

  15. Melissa says:

It certainly sounds like you’ve had a rollercoaster week BUT all of your hard work is always worth it Cassey! I’m so excited to see your bodypop activewear range (bye-bye money..) and it is always so inspiring to see how far you’ve come and how much you still continue to push yourself!
This sounds cheesy but I remember seeing one of your posts a while back that said something like, in order to have the rainbow you’ve got to go through the rain (something along those lines anyway!). So when you have these down days, just remember how AWESOME your music video is going to look, how cute your activewear is going to be and how much we all love you. Because although most of us have never met you, we certainly do love you and all that you’re doing!

  16. jay says:

thanks for being real Cassey .. it’s good to read of your challenges as well 🙂

  17. Sandy says:

Sometimes things are hardest, before you get a day where everything goes well. Remember we are all rooting for you, and these things always figure themselves out. Really looking forward to your collection!

  18. Lynn says:

  19. Jennifer says:

Hey Cassey. Sorry you had a rough week. I feel like its up to me to cheer you up because everytime I’m feeling down, you always cheer me up! Just remember all your popsters believe in you and yeah you had some setbacks but I already know bodypop is going to be soooo amazing! (I already promised to buy myself something as a treat and I haven’t even seen the line yet lol) So just keep your beautiful head up and know it’s all gonna work out (pun intended) for you.

PS I’m going to try and make the DIY shirt tonight. Im excited but nervous because I’m not too good at DIY projects lol

  20. Congrats on being featured in People magazine! You work so hard for this community so you definitely deserve to be recognized!

Sorry to hear about your rough week! You’re right about how things happen for a reason but what matters the most is how you handle it. You’re a strong and positive person and I’m sure you’ll be able to push through anything!

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope you get some time off and have some fun with friends and family!

  21. Erika says:

I luv this post. Cute Cute I am book marking this because I luv this site. Good job.

  22. Sara J says:

Cassey, I admire you so much and how you just seem to make things happen for yourself. I’m interested in being an entrepreneur in the realm of natural beauty products and sometimes I get bogged down in the details of how to actually make things happen, so I just wanted to say that I admire your ability to just DO IT, no matter what obstacles you encounter or how challenging something may seem. So thanks for being a role model!!

  23. Jackie says:

“what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”…. you are so courageous and so positive Cassey! I admire you! so inspiring! I am so proud of you, well… I think the whole community is proud of you! we are so lucky to be your Popsters!
love you and can’t wait for Bodypop! Yaaaay! everything you do is awesome! good luck

  24. sammyt says:

    Hey Cassey,
Thanks so much for giving us popsters a little inside scoop. I like that #yourreal. I’ve followed you for quite a few years and I know you’ve had some up’s and downs but your the type that takes your downs and moves forward for an up! Life’s cycle we all go through but thanks for setting an example for others who struggle with it.

Oh, and the diy shirt? THANKYOU! I’m so doing this later on today. My only concern is when washed will the tape adhere fine?

    Much love 🙂

  25. Amanda says:

I cannot wait for Bodypop!!!!! Congrats all on all your hard work!!! We love you!! But just a question, why does the workout video keep fast forwarding? kind of frustrating when you’re trying to workout and then the move is in double time and I can’t don’t finish the move before the next one is introduced. I’m assuming the other girl edited it since its posted on her channel??

  26. Stephanie says:

Cassey, I’m so excited to see your collection! Please please consider modeling your clothes on a variety of body shapes!! It’d be so nice to see what gear looks like on curvy and fat bodies, too! Let’s help represent ALL of the blogilates fans! 🙂 Good luck!!

  27. Vanessa Leihlghton says:

I’m so happy for you! You really deserve all the great things that happened to you. And I can’t wait to see you on TV. I’m sure it will be amazing.

  28. Taylor says:

Cassey- I really admire your dedication to the community and to making your dreams come true. I feel that being a part of the community and following you has allowed me to accomplish things that I never would have otherwise, and that’s not just about losing weight or getting fit. Thanks for sharing your struggles and letting us see that everybody has bad days and issues and troubles, but we have to push past them to keep living life and striving for success! 🙂 (I’m also so excited for BodyPop! It sounds amazing!)

  29. Femme says:

Today I suddenly realised that in the past 6 months I got at least five people (one of them is my mom) to start working out and eating healthier, just by putting an example. They are coming to ask me about which workouts I do (so new popsters are coming up!:p) and what healthy foods I’m eating. I find it really fun and it means a lot to me! It’s such a huge compliment to be seen as an example, just by living your life! So thank you, Cassey, for being my example and helping me being an example for others! It’s true that with blogilates we really are making a difference and spreading the healthy life! The world needs it!

    1. Vanessa Leihlghton says:

I love your comment so much!!!!!!
