A Crazy Scary New Goal…I wanna do Pull Ups!

A Crazy Scary New Goal…I wanna do Pull Ups!

Hey POPsters!

November is over TODAY and we are heading right in the cheeriest month of the year! Who’s excited for the holidays? Me me me me me! I love giving gifts so much and I love all the pretty lights. Plus having cute hats, scarves, coats, and boots (omg I just bought like my 5th pair this season yesterday!) tops it all off!

I am currently working on the December Calendar as we speak so don’t freak out. I read your tweets and FB comments. You’ll be JUST FINE.

😀

Now, if you watch the video above, you’ll see that I have chosen to conquer something I have been scared of for ages. If there’s anything I hate more than a burpee (and man I hate burpees), it’s a pull up.

I can barely do one.

It’s pretty sad.

So with that said, I am picking a goal for myself to complete in 3 months. I want to be able to do 5 pull ups. And I am going to tell you RIGHT NOW that I don’t know if this can happen but I will try my HARDEST to make it happen. What I love about this goal is that it is not based on vanity or restriction. It’s about strength.

And it’s something I cannot fake either. If my goal was to lose 10 lbs, for example, I could probably lose 5 by losing water weight pretty easily. However, you can’t fake a pull up. You just can’t. And you know what? That’s scary because every day leading up to the end of February truly counts.

I’ll be using the assisted pull up machine and the band to help me strengthen myself for this feat.

This is how you could use the band to help pull yourself up! I plan on going with lighter and lighter resistance until I can go without. It’s gonna be a tough journey!

I’ve already started training and my back is so sore! I def don’t do these exercises everyday as I need to let my back rest and the muscle fibers need time to heal and get stronger.

Anyway, I want YOU to pick a goal you wanna accomplish alongside me too! Something you think you can achieve by end of February. The cool part is…I wanna help support you POPsters through this too. So guess what!!?

I’m gonna pick 3 lucky POPsters to get $200 cash to help achieve your dreams! Because I know it’s hard sometimes when you want something to happen but money gets in the way. So Premier Protein has stepped in to sponsor us all to make it happen! All you have to do is comment on YouTube on the pull up video and tell me what your dreams are! I will announce the 3 winners in my next pull up progress video. Only thing is you have to be 18+ and live in the US. But if you don’t I encourage you guys to still make a goal any way and follow the journey with the rest of your fellow POPsters all over the world! It’ll be inspiring and fun.

Now onto other news! Thanks to everyone who bought Blogilates or oGorgeous stuff for the holidays! I am so happy many more of you will be sporting the POPster love! You know what’s weird though? I keep hearing of other people or my friends seeing people wear a Train Insane hoodie or a Train Like a Beast Look Like a Beauty tank…but I HAVE YET TO SEE THIS MYSELF!!!!! I wonder which POPster it will be that I spot wearing this first. When it happens, I am going to sneak up behind you and be like “hey, nice shirt ya got there” and when you turn around, I will take my iphone and snap a pic of u before you even know what just happened and put it on instagram.

😀

So beware. I’m out to get you.

Oh and speaking of things in the shop, just wanted to say orders are a bit cray, okay, it’s ridic cray, so if you need to write to info@ogorgeous.com – we will get back to you but it may be a little longer than usual. Don’t worry though! Everyone will be taken care of and everything will be totally ok! I appreciate you guys so much and your support!

Oh and btw…

It’s happening.

<3 you,

Cassey

My goal is to not be the thicker sister. The only thing keeping me from that now is my sister is pregnant. She’s planning on hitting the gym everyday once she has the baby. I don’t want it to be a competition but I’m always compared to my sister at school. I’m almost a foot taller than her and ten pounds more(referring to her post pregnancy weight). I just don’t have the money to get a gym membership and go everyday. I have the motivation and I can push myself through the hardest workout I just don’t have the money to do it! Please help me Cassey! I’ll love you forever:)

    Hey Cassey!
I used to run half marathons and have always wanted to run the Boston Marathon, so my eventual goal is to run a marathon in 3 hours and 35 minutes. But, since that is a really scary goal for me, right now I want to work on running a 1:48 half marathon, which has been the time I’ve wanted to run for a while. I’m running a half marathon at the end of February, so this is my official goal!! Thanks for inspiring me to actually do it, and good luck with the pull ups! 🙂

My goal is not to be the chubby, sister anymore. All my sisters are tall and skinny and I am short and chubby. I plan on joining the ROTC program to help pay for college, so I been using their fitness requirments to motivate me. So here are my goals :
    1. Run a mile and a half in 11:30
    2. Be able to do 35 push ups in a minute. But for now being able to do one haha.
    3. 45 crunchs in a minute
    4. Going from 146 to 121 by this summer
    5. Getting flat abs and sticking to counting calories and your work outs!

Thank you so much for being amazing and supporting in your videos and sorry for yelling at you a lot 🙂

    Hi Cassey!!

I posted on your youtube page that I wanted to be able to hold a plank for 2 mins and hold the squat position for 2 mins, but I would like to add something to that goal. I wanna be able to wear my wedding rings again! I am 5’8 and at my largest I weighed 268 lbs. I lost 100 lbs and kept it off for 2 months then I got married. And then BAM! I was pregnant. I was told for a long time that I wouldn’t be able to have kids so it came as a BIG shock to me. I was so sick during the pregnancy that the Dr put me on best rest from the first trimester until I had my sweet baby Sadie 😀 ! BUT a cute baby was not the only thing I gained 🙁 A month after having Sadie I stepped on the scale and realized that I had gone back up to 232 lbs… NOOOO!!! Then on November 7th when I went to the dr’s office for a check up I weighed 252 lbs. I decided things had to change! I have been exercising HARD since that day doing your videos and cardio and eating clean. I go yolo for a froyo once a week but other than that I try VERY hard to eat only fresh or raw foods. I have no idea if my weight has dropped as I don’t keep a scale in the house, but my clothes are getting starting to fall off :D!!! So, I guess my real goal is I just wanna be able to wear my wedding set again. It’s a size 8.5 and I am currently wearing a size 10 on my ring finger 🙁 We will see how it goes! Thank you so much for being so inspirational and for posting all ur workouts!

    ~Amelia

PS! I cannot wait for the DVD!!!!

I want to be able to do the splitss!!!
this should be a definite challenge considering I am the least flexible person on this earth…:) but i will try my hardest nonetheless!!!<3 And Cassey don't feel bad pull ups are VERY hard to do(i can hardly do one! lol)

  6. Natasha says:

    Hi Cassey,

I have 3 goals for next year:
1: I have to begin training for my black belt grading. It is a gruelling 7 hours of intense physical and mental exercises where we have to do all the kicks, punches, pad work, shield work, self defense and kata’s we’ve learned over 8 years. Generally it is receommended that you begin the training two years beforehand so i’m starting mine in January.
2: Train and try make it onto the National team in my weight division in Kickboxing, I’m hoping my training in goal 1 will help with this.
3: Begin doing some serious weight lifting. I’d like to learn to do things like the snatch/clean lifting techniques.

It’s great to hear everyone laying out their goals for the year to come – great motivation for us to read each others goals, whether it’s the few pounds we want to loose or the walking/running that little bit further!!!

  7. TaMara says:

I want to be able to do simple things, like going up stairs or walking long distances, without getting out of breath. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and I’m over it. I want to get healthy so that I can be a good role model for my future children. With that $200 I’d get a gym membership and new exercise clothes!

  8. Leaa says:

I wanna be able to do the Scorpio pose! Because, I mean… seriously; every person who is able to do that looks so FRIKKEN AWESOME. I want to do it too! I am not sure if it’s an reachable goal for a yoga n00b to do in 3 months… but I’ll try! And whenever I feel down; I will just look at this video <3

  9. Mels says:

    Hi Cassey!

My goal is to finish losing the 30 pounds I have gained in the last 10 years, and get into the capri’s I was wearing back then! I saved them, and I try them on every month to see how my progress is going! Working out at home to your video’s and Zuzana Light’s videos have been great, and I am working hard to walk as well for more cardio. I am in a therapy field, and help lots of children and adults improve, but I have trouble remembering to improve myself!
Still paying off those college loans, and struggling to make it all work financially…so that $200 would be awesome to buy new sneakers, some workout clothes, healthy food, and I think that would even cover a membership to my local gym.

Thanks for all you do Cassey! 🙂

  10. Irene says:

    Hey Cassey,
I’ve been trying months now to get fitter and stronger but it is impossible for me to do push ups. It’s always been so hard for me BUT from today I’ll try harder and I will make it.
Thanks for helping and motivating us to get healthier!!!

  11. Dilek says:

Lately, I think about working out all the time, but I find little or no power to actually do it, which is frustrating because during the summer I worked out with you 5-6 times a week + I went running with my brother in the afternoon.

After this school year started I’ve been too busy with my double program at the university, my homework, and my Korean lessons at another university. What saves me are the 90 minutes of waking back and forth to my university (which I’ll be able to do less now since it snowed). I initially started walking the distance in order to save the allowance my dad gives me. I am already a full scholarship student which means that my parents don’t have give a penny for my education.
So now that I think about it, even if you pick me to win, I’ll probably won’t use that money for buying sports clothes or anything; I’ll probably stash them and use them when necessary.

I already wrote my health goal on youtube ( to be able to do the splits till February.) I really want to do them so FIGHTING! to everybody here that have set their goal! 😀

    1. Dilek says:

      to give*
      I probably won’t*
(hahah weird, I always rush when I write and reread when I have already posted my comment)

  12. Elise Wood says:

    Hi Cassie,
I really appreciate you and all the time you spend on your vids and blogs. It makes working out and looking after my kids possible to do together. Thank you thank you!!!!
My goal is to continue to eat clean with occasional treats and to tone up. Xxxx Elise

  13. wynonah says:

ive been losing weight and toning beautifully. my goal is to lose another 15 pounds and run from home to my husbands place of work about 4.5 mi. i walk it now regularly but want to run… and i love having a destination!

  14. Ella says:

    Hi Cassey!
Okay, so let me give you some background info into my life. I’m currently a junior in college, I’ve been doing pop pilates (and just working out regularly) for about a year and a half or so. I’m still working on losing the weight I gained my freshman year. You know how people talk about the freshman 15, for me it was more like 50; I
ve lost 30 of it, still have 20 to go. Although my first impulse was just to starve myself, I decided to accept that it’s going to be a slow, gradual process, and instead of trying to get skinny I decided to try and get healthy, and let the skinniness happen on its own.
My goal for the next months is to just keep doing what I’m doing. Getting healthy is a long-term, ongoing goal for me, whether that means eating clean, working out almost every day, or losing a few pounds. I know that this will only get better and I’ll be able to accomplish what I want, and I’d like to thank you for that. Every day I work out I feel stronger and healthier, and your enthusiasm and optimism are just infectious.
If there’s one thing I want to accomplish between now and February it would be fitting into a pair of jeans that I’ve been keeping for the past two years now, without being able to get into them, just as a reminder of what I’m working towards. Last time I tried to put them on, I still couldn’t button them, but it was so close… Two months, one pair of jeans… I think I can do it 🙂

  15. Tamara says:

My goal is to lose these last 35lbs so I can reach my goal of losing 100lbs, to continue to develop a strong healthy body, and work on my inner strength to prevent slip ups and self sabatoge (a constant battle)

  16. Nina says:

    Hi Cassey!

Thank you for all your amazing videos… They really give inspiration and hope.

I’ve never been fat, or something like that, but still I’ve always felt insecure in bikini. Every summer I have the same problem. When I see my friends and other girls with their perfect, natural bodies I get even more insecure. They eat as much as I do, I do more workout then them, but still I’ve got more fat on my belly and my thighs. These thing led to that I pretty much suffered in eating disorders this year. At the same time as my mother got sick, I started to throw up and train a lot – just thinking it would make me feel better. But it made me more weak, and haven’t given me a nicer or thinner body at all. I have had a hard time, struggeling with this, but 2013 I really wanna do it all from the beginning. I’ve deleted this from my mind now, and I’ve made a list over my goals to summer 2013! I’m going to eat like I did before – healthy and enough – and do your workouts. In the summer my goal is not to feel insecure anymore – no mather how my body looks. Hopefully I’ve got a more flat stomach and nicer legs and arms, but if I don’t – I’m sure I will feel a lot better after doing workouts with you.

Thank you for giving me inspiration and new hope! I’m sure I will be thankful that you’ve killed me a couple of times in the future 😉

    Lots of love /Nina

  17. rosalie says:

In the summer I went to a festival. There I bruised my whole body. (lots of rain on a muddy hill + 200 peaople on that hill, we all slipped) Eventually the bruises and swelling went away. But when I stand longer than 2 hours on my right leg it hurts a lot.
I started to do pilates with a friend and it helped a lot but there is still a lot of pain.

I need to go to a doctor to figure out whats wrong. I’ve been to scared to do so until now. My goal is to go see my docter, and have the courage to see what he had to say.
I’ve been stalling this for 4 months now :S

  18. Caitlyn says:

I want to be able to jog a 5K I can barely run for a quarter of a mile with out stopping and feel like I’m dying so a 5K seems impossible to me. Also love your videos and blog!!

    Hey Cassey!
I’ve recently been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. If I lose even just 10% of my body fat it will improve the condition so much! My goal is to lose weight to improve my health for this reason and gain strength and confidence whilst doing so.

Also, your videos are amazing! Thank you so much for the inspiration and support 🙂

  24. Linde says:

    Hey Cassey!
A few months ago, I was suffering from an ED. I could not get things together, I could not see anything clearly and my mind was a mess. I never thought I was fat, but always wanted to do the right thing. That was the same for my diet. But because I did not know what exactly was a healthy diet I listened to the advise that is so often provided by the food industry: a healthy diet means eating the lowest number of calories as possible. I failed to think for myself and had the idea that I was doing the right thing by cutting down on calories as much as possible. I felt in control and strong. But after a few months, I was extremely thin, always felt cold and depressed.
After some difficult months and with some help, I was able to find myself again. I found out that healthy eating is not about the amount of calories. My diet now consists mostly of whole, natural foods that make me feel good and make me look beautiful. I am back to a normal weight again and now I am able to feel happy and sexy again.
My newest goals are to just be fit and healthy. I love working out, not to loose weight but only to feel good and energetic and to build some muscles.
When I found your Youtube channel I was so happy! Your food philosophy is exactly the same as mine! And your workouts help me to feel alive and to get into a beautiful feminine and strong shape.
Thank you Cassey, you inspire me so much!
    Love from the Netherlands

  25. Michelle says:

    Hey Cassey,

I have a endless list of fitness dreams the biggest being. To conquer my almost crippling fear of heights and have the courage and strength to climb a mountain. Then I would also like to be able to run a marathon, an ENTIRE marathon without stopping and finish with the leading pack.

Sometimes, its hard to think about those goals because people just look at the external physical goals. A great toned bod like yours would be fantastic, but if I could successfully become a lead climber, it would truly motivate me to do anything.

Thanks for the videos… god bless and take care, you’re such an inspiration 🙂

  26. Aneira says:

I also would like to be able to do more pull ups in one go…but my main goal is to get strong enough to start lead climbing.
I started top rope rock climbing earlier this year and I’ve watched the experienced climbers scaling the back walls, carrying their rope up with them, hooking the rope as they go (scary).
I’ve already completed one of my goals, by finishing a climb with a big overhang. Next step, leading on the back wall…I’ve already signed myself up for the new years class, so now there’s no backing out.

  27. Riley T says:

My goal is to run a half-marathon without stopping! Last February I struggled through one (muddy) half-marathon trail run that scared me away from long races. I’ve been training a bit but I’m ready to focus in and commit to it. I feel my best when I’m working toward healthy goals that challenge me and it helps to put it down in writing! I would use prize money to pay my registration for a race!

  28. Deborah Yoo says:

My healthy goals are to run a marathon one day. I spent too much of my life being sedentary and am slowly starting to get in the groove of runningg.

  29. Hazel Grbesic says:

    Hi Cassey!

My names’ Hazel Grbesic. I’m a 17 year old girl from Orlando Florida, and my goal is to be a size 2-4 maybe a 6 by the time I go to college. I’ve always been kind of insecure with my weight, right now I weigh around 190-200 pounds, and I guess the reason I struggle with my insecurities so much is that I don’t really work out because I couldn’t get to a gym, but ever since I saw blogilates I’m determined to really make a difference in my life. I’ve been wanting to buy dumbbells and all the exercise equipment I need, but unfortunately my mother can’t give me the money in order to buy those because she can’t work since she’s fallen off a ladder and basically crippled herself. I’ve tried to get a job but with my feet — I’ve just gotten surgery on them because I had tumors in the heels — and also with me finishing my schooling — I’m 6 months away! — As well as the fact trying to juggle all of that and still get enough sleep, and unfortunately I can’t be sleep deprived — I’m epileptic — It’s really hard. I want to be skinny, and healthy. I tried to go into Forever 21 today because my uncle gave a 100 dollar gift card, and looking at the clothing their designed for skinnier girls. I used to be thin, but when I started homeschooling things kept happening. I just want to lose the weight so I can feel good about myself, and also just look good when I head off to college.

    Love,
    Hazel

    1. Mels says:

@Hazel- you don’t need to buy any fancy equipment! Whatever you have at home is great! Need weights? Try soup cans, water bottles, or even no weights and just try adding a few more repetitions, or go a bit faster for more cardio. If your feet are an issue, perhaps you can try seated exercises – I see lots of the things Cassey does are on the floor, so maybe that would work. Remember to eat healthy and not starve yourself! It’s pretty cheap to eat healthy – grains can be bought in bulk, and vegetables don’t have to cost a lot if you check out what’s on sale. It seems hard, but it can be done! Good luck!

  30. Inga says:

My goal is to find balance in my life, my food, and my fitness. To aspire to others and focus my energy and time to what really matters.

  31. Rashanda says:

I love your videos Cassey. Your personality and encouragement has helped me get into pilates because all the other fitness videos I have tried were too intense and not fun. My goal is loose some of my belly, leg, and arm fat in 3 months. I want to start the new year off right with toning up my body. Good luck to everyone on working on their goals!

  32. Kayla M. says:

Hey there, Cassey! First off, I wanted to tell you that your videos have changed my life. I’ve been turning my life around for the better quite a while back, but your videos really got me into the groove of things full blown and they make everything a lot more fun!

I want to finally reach the point where I’m not only satisfied with myself on the inside, but the outside as well. I’ve always been teased about my weight & body, and food was my only comfort. It led to depression and many other things that I’m not proud of. I have finally seen the harm of my ways and I’m so excited to be starting over and basically “re-inventing” myself. I have a dance in 2 weeks which I’m feeling more confident about dressing up and going to. In April of next year, I have my cousin’s wedding, and I now know that I AM ABLE to get myself in great shape and stay healthy and just have a better life. Your videos were such a big part of that, and I thank you sincerely.

  33. Callie says:

    Hi Cassey-

I’m a teenage girl from Massachusetts and i’ve been struggling with depression and body image issues. I have gotten better but not close to 100%. My goal is to be truly happy with my body and appearance. Whether i achieve that by toning it up or loosing weight or just accepting my body for what it is. I realize this is not a goal that will be achievable in the next three months but its an important goal that i wanted to share. I’m not normally very happy or feel good about my body, but you have definitely helped. You are always so cheerful and peppy and excited about everything you do and i really admire that. You have brightened up many of my days by exercising with you and just watching your videos. I hope you continue to brighten up my days in the future! Thank you for everything and good luck with your goals!! I know you can do it!
    Callie

  34. Leah says:

My health goal is to be able to ride my bike up the hill that my house is on (it’s KILLER). Thanks for all the support you give us Cassey!

  35. Crystal says:

My goal is to lose the 20 lbs. I gained back after a stressful few months involving a long-distance move and new job! I’m on my way and really appreciate the recipes/exercises posted. Thanks!

  36. Kelly says:

My goal is to be able to do the splits. I’m really flexible, but for some reason I’ve never been able to do a full split. My plan is to stretch everyday until I get it!

  37. Molly says:

    My healthy dreams and goals:

Be fit. be toned. drink more water. cut down/out sugar. be loved and love others. be kind. be gracious. be me!

Workout at least 2x a day, one cardio session for a minmum of 30 minutes, and one toning session of an hour plus.

Eat clean! I started this week actually really working to eat clean and I want to stick with it through the holidays and into the new year, I feel better, lighter and more committed than ever!

I want to love myself, I don’t give myself enough credit for looking the way I do, I’ve worked hard to be here and now that I have a new set of goals I want to work hard to reach those too. I want to remind myself that treating my body right is my most important priority. It carries me and loves me and I am not always the kindest to it. Accepting myself and my body is a huge goal and I want to achieve it!

  38. Angelica Ortiz says:

    Hi Cassey!!!
My goal has always to have some other girl’s body but I was being unrealistic. Now, my goal is to balance out my school and workout schedule so I don’t end up beating myself up. I want to feel comfortable with my own body, and with your help I’m getting there. I’ve been told a few times that it looks like I lost weight but the truth is that I’m just beginning to tone my body. I’m going to keep doing your workouts and play a sport as cardio 😀 BTW! My favorite workouts have been bodacious arms and back, and inner thigh insanity. Happy holidays!!

  39. Terri Harvey says:

My fitness goal is to maintain the weight loss that i have had thanks to blogiliates. I would also love to be able to do more sit ups, but right now it hurts my lower back to much to do much. Which is a bummer because I do want a flatter stomach.

For strength, I want to be able to stay in plank for more then 30 seconds. For cardio, I want to be able to run for 3 or more miles without getting winded.

Thank you again for all the videos and inspirational messages.

  40. Sadie says:

My goal is to spend more time focusing on getting my health coach business started. I also want to tone up and run a half marathon in 2013 🙂

  41. MissJays says:

My goal for the next three months is to loose the belly fat, I have quite the petite figure but I have never been able to understand why I cant loose the belly fat!! Let’s see how it goes, good luck with your goals ladies (and gents)

  42. I want to continue eating clean and following your monthly workout schedules, or ‘just’ work out 6-7 times a week, EVEN THOUGH I am moving out in the end of this December! I’m 18 years old, gonna be a student this summer, so my challenge is to not give up, even though things might be tough with money and exams the next couple of months!

  43. Marissa says:

My fitness goal is to be able to run a mile in 6 minutes or less. In high school I could run a mile in 5 min 10 sec, and I would love to be able to run again. NO MORE EXCUSES! Let’s do it!

  44. Heli says:

I am so exited of finding your web-page, I love your posts! My goal is to be in better fit, nothing more, nothing less. I want to achieve that good feeling of my body, feel comfortable in it, find a more helthy way of living and look fabulous in a Winter-Ball in the end of February. I started with your abs and arms – workouts and I will keep going, you are inspiring 🙂

My boyfriend will leave tomorrow to do 1,5 month of travelling. I started doing your october calender SO RIGHT, I did them as often as I could. But last november I haven’t done anything of it anymore, though I love your videos. So what I want to do in the weeks my boyfriend is gone: An HOUR a day of running, a calender workout, HIIT, or gym visit every day to make it a habit. I want to do one of them everyday, JUST DO IT. Like going for a run early in the morning before I can even think about why I should not do it. And I don’t count my daily half an hour bike ride. Combined with my vegan diet I know I can make this work. I want to challenge myself in getting a movement habit! As soon as I done the best I could to keep myself going and having fun, I allow myself to (finally!) buy some new lingerie to surprise my boyfriend and feel super sexy but especially PROUD on myself!

  46. Heather says:

I left a comment on pinterest too but I had to cut it short on there. Cassey you always know exactly what to say to get me out of a fitness rut. My goal is to lose ‘that last 15 lbs’. I’m going to a wedding with my husband in June and I want to lose the weight by then, but my goal is to lose the 15 lbs by February. Whenever I watch one of your videos it always picks me up and gets me back on track. I have my Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, but since I graduated I’ve been pretty unhealthy. I’ve had good months and bad months (more bad than good), and lately I’ve been giving myself excuses as to why I can’t work out or eat healthy or lose the weight. It’s ironic right? This is what I went to school for! I should be super fit and healthy! While I was in school I loved working out and eating clean and it made me feel so good because of what I was learning about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I guess I’ve been in a bit of a rut since then. But no longer! This challenge it exactly what I needed to get off my butt and commit! I want to make myself better so that I can help others who want to do the same. I won’t let myself down, or you Cassey! And the fabulous prize money would help with buying a fabulous new dress to show off my new self at our friends’ wedding!

  47. Kara says:

I know how you feel about pull-ups, I have the same terrifying mental block about push-ups! I have to tell myself “you can do this” like 500 times or else I will just drop to my knees even though I usually have the strength. It makes no sense! So, naturally I am going to torture myself and challenge myself to be able to do 75 push-ups nonstop!!! Lets do this 🙂

  48. Samantha says:

    Pull-ups ARE hard!!!

My goal is going to be to run a 10k…without walking! eek. I did the 5k last month, but i’m ready to step it up a notch 🙂

  49. Emma says:

My goal is to do the roll over Pilates move from the bloat be gone workout! I can’t enter cause I’m in the UK but just wanted to say, live the videos and blogs! Thanks Cassey! xx

  50. Blair says:

I want to be able to do a split on both my right and left legs. I used to be a dancer (ballet, pointe, tap & jazz) but stopped when I went to college. I have since switched to Pilates & running, but miss dancing every day. I’ve taken a few classes here and there, but it’s been a little over five years since I’ve consistently gone to dance classes.

Being able to accomplish this would remind me that no matter how I stay fit, I am capable of anything. I have also lost some flexibility since I stopped dancing, and it would be great to get that back!

Best of luck Cassie with your pull ups! 🙂 🙂

    1. MT Angel says:

I just started ballet again after a long break too. After I put my goals on youtube, I saw someone else had dance goals there as well. It looks like several of us will be practicing our splits! Good luck!

  51. Alexis says:

Hey Cassey, I was having a hard to finding my goal because nothing much is going on the next few months for me to get excited about. I’ve even been slacking and missing workouts. I know I’ve been bad. You have such good timing. I think I found a phenomenal goal to work for. I’ve been married for 13 years and figured it is time to get back into my wedding dress. I’ve already dropped down to a size 3-4 so I only need to drop another size or two to fit back into my dress. I know what I want to do if win that $200 is surprise my hubby with a sexy calendar of myself and do our month in the Wedding dress, but there is more. Since the new craze is trash your dress. I have to find creative ways to do that trash my dress pose for that month. Maybe you have some suggestions.

  52. Maxine says:

Ahh good luck Cassey!! My goal is going to absolutely kill me, but it’s to do 30 pushups in a row. AHH so scared.

  53. Allie says:

    Hey Cassey!

First of all I wanted to thank you for your videos. Like so many other people I am an extremely busy student between school and my job. I can’t spend hours in the gym so I really appreciate all of your HIIT videos because they are a really effective way to get a great workout in minimal time.

My goal is to get leaner and more toned legs. Sadly I have let fitness slip by the wayside this semester and don’t run and or do yoga and Pilates as often as I use to. I constantly find myself complaining about my legs so I have decided to stop whining and start doing (again)! Thank you for the inspiration!

  54. Mackenzie says:

My goal is to cut back on sugars. I do pretty well on being a clean eater, but candy and other sweets are my weakness. I never keep them in my apartment, but when I go home or go visit friends on the weekends I end up eating more of them then I should and I almost feel out of control. By eating less sugar I know I will be helping my body as a whole by not pumping as many bad things into it, and I’m hoping that on top of that I will notice a change in my body as well 🙂

  55. Lacy says:

Well one cool thing about pull ups is that you can just do dead weight hangs and it actually helps!!!! so even if you cant pull up you can just hang there and that is a start. you can totally do this and i’m gonna join you. i used to boulder all the time but with no rocks here at the beach i have lost all my upper body strength. 5 pull ups is nothing. you got this!

  56. Lacey says:

How funny two weeks ago i made a similar goal of working to get five wide grip pull ups by feb 14! i can do 2 good narrow grip underhand pull ups right now, but i want to be able to to do the wide grip over hand like so many boys i see at the gym. I have been slaying myself on the assisted dip machine, and got a pull up bar for my place to practice at home. goood luck on your goal, we both got this! <3

  57. Louise says:

Two years ago I had this pretty prom dress I fitted in for my high school senior prom. The holiday after, I enjoyed life like A LOT! And then I went to college and I enjoyed college life even more. I’ve had a really fun year, but the downside of this all is that I didn’t pass my first year of college and I don’t fit the dress anymore…
So my goal will be ofcourse to succeed for my exams this time aaaand, to fit the dress again by february.

  58. Paige says:

My new goal is to run a 5k!!!! Not in a certain time, but just run a whole 5k without walking.
I’m decently fit and LOVE your work outs, especially the cardio ones because its not boring. But, I don’t run anymore….I get bored even running outside, and when I go, i don’t run for very long. I want to know that I can run for sustained amount of time. So 5k it is! $200 would really help me buy some new nike’s (my favs) and the premier protein snacks look great workout fuel!!!

  59. Sarah says:

I’m so glad I’m not the only girl how can’t do pull-ups! Maybe I should make that my goal too. 😀

  60. Great video and blogpost Cassey! Pull ups are def a hard one especially for women who have lower upper body strength then men typically. I spent a lot of time working myself up to being able to do one or two pull-ups but its so worth it and your tips are great!

  61. Cassie says:

My goal is to, decently, where a bikini bottom and shirts, like the ones you wore in the Gangham style video 🙂

    1. Cassie says:

I meant to say shorts 😉

  62. teilzeitDAU says:

    hey cassey
the pull up is one of the only moves i can’t do, either 🙁 i haven’t tried pull ups in ages but i guess i couldn’t even do one, so the challenge i’m setting up for myself is to be able to do 1 pull up!

another move i can’t (yet!) do is this: sit w/ your legs stretched out straight in front of you w/ your feet together (so now your legs and torso create a 90deg angle), then place your hands next to your butt, engage your quads and your core x45775938893 and lift your legs off the floor so you’re holding yourself up on your palms only (legs still straight out).

    riduculousness on the mat!
my former boxing instructor showed me that move and i’ve made some progress since, but wowww! i’m still a complete failure at it!! so this would be another challenge to work on, but that’ll be next time 🙂

    1. Asha says:

Practise by raising and holding one leg off the ground first for between 5-10 sec, then the other leg. Also practise by putting your feet up on something like a step or even a book, about 4 inches off the ground, then try to push yourself up and hold for a couple seconds if you can.

By the way the move is called a pike hold.

  63. Marta says:

Hey Cassey!! Love your workouts, they are the savior when I don’t have time to go o the gym. I play football and I’ve worked really hard to develop my training and to move on and reach new goals! You really inspire me to eat healthy, and I LOVE YOUR BANANAPANCAKES. They are.. like heaven on a plate.
Anyway, I’ve decided that my new goal is to be able to do 5 push ups- with claps!!
I also train gong-fu, and our “Master” tell us to them AFTER we’ve done about 50 regular push ups!?! So that’s my goal. I don’t know really when I want to be able to do it. Because I’m going to sail over the atlantic ocean with my school so I am not going to be able to workout as much as I’m used to..

Keep up the good work, I’m sure you will reach your goal by the end of February!
Love POPster, Have a nice holiday!!

  64. Missy says:

    Hey Cassey
Thanks for being so motivational. You’ve helped me get to where I am today. Now it’s time to move on to more. When I say more, I don’t mean from you. You’ve given more than enough. I’ve been starting to do some yoga again and I love it. I’ve been doing it off and on for years. Recently I have been taking a yoga class at my gym and it has helped with flexibility. My goal for the next three months is to be able to do a handstand. I know this will require upper body strength and the ability to lift my own wait. I feel that I am ready to get more because I am able to do a headstand. I’m so excited!! Thanks again for all that you do.

  65. Amber says:

An 8 minute mile, actually 3 of them in a row. I can do one mile in 8:40, but I slow way down after that first mile. This semester of school was super busy, and now I am even slower. My goal is to run those 3 miles in 24 minutes and maintain (or raise) my grades at the same time.

  66. Courtney says:

Cassey !! <3 would it be possible to make a Train Insane hoodie in a 2X ?? I would really love one <3

  67. Tara says:

I love this idea. My goal is to be able to run a mile without having to walk. I have NEVER been able to do that. But I know I can get there. I just have to work for it. ^_^ In 3 months if I can get to 5k without having to walk I will cry. Seriously.

  68. Emmy says:

    Hi Cassey!

This is my first comment. I started doing your vids about a month ago and i LOVE them. I have never been so excited to work out! You make me laugh and always keep me motivated because I know you are working just as hard as I am and you actually acknowledge that you get tired too. I can’t wait to see the December calendar. Hope it includes something that will help me get more defined shoulders. Good luck on your pull ups challenge, I’m sure you’ll kill it : )

    Thanks!!

  69. Farrah says:

I already commented on youtube, but I just wanted to say that really like this post and the idea behind it. All the posted goals are giving me lots of inspiration for future goals (and fueling my motivation to get em’ done)! :]

  70. L says:

Hey Cassie, that’s an admirable goal especially after that one New York Times article. Have you looked at the book “Convict Conditioning” for pull up progression? The whole progression is to one-armed pull ups, but it could be a good start to just getting to the basic ones. My friends and I have been following our own progress with different parts of that book, and it’s techniques are systematic and effective, but admittedly it takes some patience in the beginning. Another thing that really helped me to get the strength to do pull ups is bench pressing and pendlay rows.
As a note, in your video you’re doing chin ups at the playground, not pull ups– which use more of the back and supporting muscles.

  71. Sunny says:

I always feel a strange sense of pride whenever you sell out of something. Like a good for Cassey! kind of thing

  72. Katarina Krebs says:

    Hey Cassey 🙂
My name is Katarina, and i´m form Denmark. I am 14 years old and i LOOOVE your blog. My coal is to run 2.5 mile with out stoping.
Bye Bye Cassy 😀 love you

  73. Julie says:

I want to be able to run 10 km (6.2 miles) by the end of February within 1 hour! (Right now I am at 3 km in 20 minutes…)
Since I have asthma I have always tended to be too nice to myself, cutting myself slack whatever I did and stopping workouts mid-way. I am so done with this!
Part of my goal is to train for these 6.2 miles outside. This will force me to train under harder weather conditions (snow?!) but it will make me stronger mind-wise, forcing me to forget about all the excuses and to step out of my comfort zone. At the same time I will get a great exercise for my legs, the part of my body I am most self-conscious of (cellulite…).
So good luck Cassey and everyone else!

  74. Renee says:

I am recovering from surgery on my uterus. My pelvic floor muscles are weak and i want it back strong with the help of Pilates. So that i have control over my lower body!

  75. KB says:

    Thank you for being you!!!

This Nov calendar was awesome and I may be in the best shape I have been in within the last 5 years. Your blog, videos, multiple ideas, food tips…they all keep me going. Thank you for helping me stay healthy and making a difference in my life.

I would love to conquer a pull up and will be following you along on this adventure.

  76. Kaitlyn says:

I want to increase my upper body strength. I would like to be able to bench press. Lofty goal as I’ve not even tried but I NEED to increase my upper body strength and that is one hell of a way to do it.

Thank you Cassey for continuously inspiring and pushing us forward. <3

  77. Franzi says:

Since my puberty I am gaining weight and I don’t only feel fat, but also really tired and just bad. Before I did sports at least five times a week, but then I stopped it and since then I gained weight and began to feel really self conscious. Sometimes I really do sports and live healthy, but even though I am feeling much better then, my sugar craving and my laziness is stronger and I am eating bad food, again. So my goal is to live healthier. I really want to loose weight, but even more important: I want to feel good. I want to be fitter and I want to do something good for my body and my mind. So I want to start NOW. Not tomorrow (how often did I tell myself: Tomorrow you will begin and today you can eat the last time very much. And the next day I am telling myself the same thing all over again…) and not in January. And I want to try finally to start dancing again. When I was a kid I did Ballett and HipHip. But because of my weight I didn’t want to go to dancing classes anymore, because so many girls and guys are so skinny and fit there, while I am overweight and sweaty…

  78. Alaia says:

Yay! I’m so excited for December! Okay so my goal for the next three months is to loose 12 pounds and I know that so unoriginal but the deeper meaning is that if I do accomplish this goal I’ll feel more enlighten and more free. I’m a very awkward person and I can admit I am very tough on my self because my over-thinking brain believes I must be perfect before I show off my curves in a bikini. At school I am so shy and people don’t know the real me because I alway think their first impression when their eyes meet my body is FAT. Many people tell me that I’m over exaggerating, and maybe I am but my body doesn’t feel healthy so unless I feel happy about appearance my over exaggeration will never go away. I’m not saying my family is poor but yes my parents think it’s stupidity to spend all that money on a gym membership or a weekly pilates class; it totally suck. I have 3 older sibling whom are skinny… it’s so hard to wake up in the morning knowing my sister just has to put on shorts and a T-shirt and she’s ready for school.. and me, it takes about an hour and a half just to stop crying because nothing looks good on me. I want all this depression , shyness, hatred, jealousy, awkwardness, and most of all unhealthiness to go away. Please help me out. I just can’t seem to get motivated… I really do think that earning this prize will help me; I’ll be able to eat healthy and go to the gym weekly and also attend a yoga class or something else that I’m interested in! xoxo

  79. JonnA says:

Can I make a double goal?! I want to do 5 pull ups too. Looking at the video of you making one and then…not….looked kind of the same as me trying to do those pull ups.. 🙂 And I would love to be able to do a split 🙂 Never ever have been able to flex that much. My little sister can do that and I’m soooo going to try that!! Even though I’m 13 years older than my youngest sister.

  80. Tash says:

    Hi Cassey!
    Thank you so much!
Thanks to you I’m fitter than I’ve ever been before, I’m eating clean and seeing changes in my body.
My boyfriend is in the military and we saw each other for the first time in 3 months this week. He couldn’t believe how much my body has changed and he’s so proud of all the hardwork I put in the last few months, sticking with your calendars and running harder and faster. It was the best feeling ever when he hugged me and marvelled at my slimmer waist and toned abs and legs and arms. And I’m also not afraid of having sculpted arms and shoulders and calves. Because I look and feel amazing in tank tops and short skirts.
I’ve always thought I’d never run more than 4km…. but because of your workouts my legs are stronger and I was able to run 8km last weekend, and this morning I jogged up and down a hill with my boyfriend who’s super fit and I could keep up. Running is much easier after doing Lolo lunges, the bikini blaster series, and body pop hiit with you so many times. And my new favourites- the VS stiletto workout and the bikini contest kickoff.
Anyway, he has to leave again for 6 months and I’m going to keep working hard and my goal for the end of February is to be able to run 10km in under 60 minutes. And we are going to do a 10km race together when he’s back in July. I never did any sports in school and I never thought I’d wake up at 7am on a Saturday to go for a run. But I look forward to it because you motivate me to just get out of bed and do it.
Can’t wait to get started on the December calendar! And this is my birthday month so I’m going to to go harder than ever!!! Because I am ready! I am beast! GRRRRRRRR
Thank you from Melbourne, Australia. X

  83. Lina says:

    Hmm… isn’t that a chin-up? Based on your grip.

  84. steph says:

another product placement? I really can’t take much more of this. I know the Special K had like 40+ comments on it and you never brought it up…and protein bars? Really? Really? Don’t most health people say STAY AWAY from the weight loss and protein bars. I can only speak for myself, but this is really turning me away. I don’t care about the $200 give away because this to me is not your philosophy about eating clean.

  85. Sandy says:

    Awesome contest!

I’ve been practicing yoga for about 2 years. I would like to achieve 8 angle pose on my left and right side.

CASSEY! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! I really appreciate that this goal is about strength as I really don’t buy into the bikini comps… I just don’t think they are healthy. Anyway! My Goal is to be able to do my push ups on my feet! NO MORE KNEES! I guess I’ll set a goal of being able to do 15 real push ups in a row. LOVE YOU GIRL!

  92. Ashley says:

I want to get deeper into yoga to achieve flexibility, balance, and inner strength! I’ve already started, but its hard to keep up, but you inspired me, Cassey!

  93. GK says:

I want to have abs by the end of February!!! I think this takes a lot of work because I am not the fittest person and also I have a lot of work everyday but I also started doing an after school activity this year (dance) and I am trying to do your workouts as often as possible but with all the homework and barely anytime for myself I don’t know if I can achieve that goal but in December I am going to start exercising whenever I can, everyday and I am going to try not to give up!! I am going to be dripping with sweat because I am going to train insane or I will remain the same!!! So wish my luck

Btw Dripping with sweat is kind of gross 🙂 oh well idc /人︶︿︶人\ hmph

  94. Jessica says:

Cassey! I love your spirit so much.

  95. Mia says:

I think it will also show me a new perspective on things. lol I am so thankful for this blog, it is a constant source of positivity and I don’t know what I would do without it! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  96. Melanie says:
