What’s makes the “perfect body”?
As I went shopping the other day, I noticed a completely undressed mannequin in the corner of GUESS’s store. It then dawned on me how many different body types need to be manufactured so that the clothing advertised in the window displays can fit their target profile customer perfectly. Then I started noticing what made a girl physically “perfect” in their eyes. The GUESS girl looked:
-5’8” or 5’9”
-34C at least
-25” waist, very little hips
-rounded butt
-some definition in abs, low back but not arms or legs
(disclaimer: I am not saying these are the perfect body dimensions!)
It’s funny that now mannequins can have definition. Back 5 years ago I bet most stores didn’t care for definition. Just slender would cut it. But those lines on the abs are coveted. I guess those lines help sell more clothes or else these stores wouldn’t invest in such a tiny detail. I also noticed that there was no definition in the arms or legs. Meaning that this model probably only did ab workouts and cardio.
If I remember correctly, I think activewear mannequins at Lulu all have a 6 pack and a smaller chest.
What types of bodies have you seen in window decorations? Do you personally relate to the body types displayed if you buy their clothes? And does it end up fitting you better? Think and share.
