WORKOUT DETAILS

The much anticipated HUNGER GAMES WORKOUT is FINALLLLYYY here!!!! I can’t tell you how excited I am to release this video. It is a culmination of everything I’ve been learning and working on since my start as a YouTuber! To write, produce, edit, and star in a mini workout movie was a lot of work!

Yes, I just called this a mini workout “movie”.

I have never ever in my life spent so much time preparing for and editing a video for YouTube. Ever!!!! So that’s why I think it deserves to be called a movie. Haha. Well, in my eyes at least.

I learned how to add fireballs and animation in this video which I’ve never done before. I almost gave up after watching a billion tutorials and not getting it to work. It was so FRUSTRATING!!!!! But remember what I always say? Actually, I don’t know what I always say, but it should probably be something like KEEP GOING, NEVER GIVE UP, or BE RESILIENT. Something along those lines.

So when I finally found the right combination of buttons to push in Final Cut Pro, and the flames appeared over my footage…the feeling was INDESCRIBABLE. It was soooooooo satisfying. I reminded me of the first time I ever made a website. I smiled from ear to ear!!! And I kept telling myself how amazing life was.

Anyway, I want to thank YOU GUYS for inspiring me to make this video. In fact, I didn’t even know what The Hunger Games were until last week when I was in New York and several of you kept asking for a Hunger Games workout. So I asked on facebook, “Who wants a Hunger Games workout?” and like 700 of you gave me thumbs up. I thought that was a pretty prominent sign that I should do something about it.

So that night I went out and bought a ticket to go see the movie with absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into…and let me tell you, I am in love with the characters and fascinated by the story. I didn’t watch 1/3 of the movie because it was so gory (I don’t do well with scary/blood stuff) but I adored the relationships between the characters, especially the love that develops between Katniss and Peeta.

I am going to actually get the books now because I am so intrigued. So thank you POPsters for igniting my latest obsession! You showed me a gem I didn’t see! Seriously, THANK YOU!

Oh yeah, and try the workout! You can workout to it for real. I didn’t roll down a dirty hill in Central Park several times and paint red lipstick on my forehead in public for nothin 😛

Have fun! And listen to the commentary! Especially the one at the end where I talk about burpees…

<3 Cassey

I love this! Ive read the books and sure it might not be EXACTLY like the stuff they do. But that doesnt matter, this is fun! Its like why have the same boring old workouts when you can use your imagination to drive you(I hate cardio and I always imagined zombies were after me so id run faster). I just love that you got creative put the time and effort into something so thoughtful for the rest of us, especially us hunger games addicts 😛 Cassey please keep the workouts coming!

Hey Cassie! I love the video, you did an awesome job! I want to do this as a workout but I want to turn it into a longer workout, what do you suggest, doing it HIIT style or a circuit workout? Thanks so much for all you do, can’t wait for your next workout vid 🙂

  27. june says:

i love you. i really really love you. you are my favorite youtube fitness instructor.

  28. Leah James says:

Good job with the animation and creativity. I plan to do this outside, so I won’t have my laptop. How many reps per exercise or is this HIIT? If so, how many seconds work and how many seconds rest? Thanks.

  29. Very cool! Can’t wait to try it!!

  30. Aja says:

I loved watching this! I can’t wait to do it. You have really come a long way and I’ve been watching and doing your videos for at least a year, if not more and going back to your old ones and comparing them to what you come out with now you can really see a huge amount of growth! This video was so creative and funny, but I do have to say as far as the structure of it, while it is obviously very well thought out and planned and edited together in a spectacular way, it kind of lost me as far as motivation goes. But awesome job! Final cut can be frustrating. And I can’t wait to see how much more you grow and progress and how this community grows over the next few months/years. You’re awesome! Stay amazing!

  31. emme says:

i have to be honest, i love you. but it’s not your best video. i love the hunger games and i don’t think you did it justice. i wish you focused on more of katniss everdeen and her strengths and how to train like her. i agree that the video was light hearted and somewhat silly and it was a workout itself. but it doesn’t reflect on the hunger games much. i hope you make another one that is better. i would have loved to have seen an exercise on how to get arm strength to climb trees or shoot arrows like katniss or agility work. hopefully you’ll have more inspiration after reading the books. the movie left out a lot of details.

    1. Isla says:

Hey Emme. Seriously?? This is a free, beautifully done work out to the theme of the hunger games. Tons of effort has been put in. I don’t think it’s there to encapsulate the exact detail! Please, do go ahead and make something ‘better’ seeing as you are such the expert. And perhaps in the meantime, you can stop posting negative comments on Casseys blog – her workouts are fantastic and we LOVE them! X

      1. Tatyana says:

sorry isla, but why are you attacking emme? she didn’t say anything harmful to cassie. she gave her constructive criticism which can be a great help to evolve in life.

cassey, i love you and your attitude and workouts very much, but here i have to agree with emme. i’m sure if you had read the books before filming a hunger games workout it would’ve turned out a lot different, more suited for what ‘the hunger games’ is actually about.
congrats on improving your filming and editing skills though! that’s not something everyone can do.

i hope you will enjoy reading the books as much as i did! 🙂

        x

        1. Sarah says:

I agree and disagree with emmes constructive criticism. However I’m sure it was not Casey intent to deliver a hardcore exact detail of the hunger games training. It was more lighthearted, but it was still tough. Emme sounded negative because she had higher expectations. But I felt that cassey did a great job.

        2. Amy says:

To you and emme you have no right to say that about this video in this sense-its a free video workout, when most today cost money, also its more important that its a workout then a H.G replica and lastly
climbing trees and shooting doesnt really make any sense for a WORKOUT video

  32. Georgia says:

LOVE IT!!!! U are such a good actor Cassey!! We cant thank u enough for the time and effort you have put into this movie! x x

  33. Emma says:

That is pretty awesome! Makes me want to go work out 😉

  34. Caroline Frawley says:

OMG!! That is just brilliant Cassey. So much work and effort went into that production! We are so lucky to have you 🙂 Thank you!

  35. Nadi says:

Loving it!!! You did a great job. Very entertaining!
You should audition for the sequel Cassey! 😉

  36. Rachel says:

This is SO great! Thank you!

  37. Marloes says:
