Hey guys!

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? This weekend I explored the Pompeii Exhibit at the California Science Center. I’ve been wanting to go ever since they blasted LA with the billboards and advertisements a month ago. It was so wonderful to come into a world frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. I enjoyed seeing the actual artifacts from Italy but I couldn’t really “feel” Pompeii nor did I really learn anything I didn’t already know. I expected to be even more fascinated with the whole phenomenon and to walk away with nuggets of information that I hadn’t heard on The History Channel already. Alas, that did not happen, but it was awesome seeing so much of LA out there appreciating history together 🙂 One day I want to go to the real deal! From what I saw you guys comment on Instagram, it seems creepy and amazing all at once. I’m so there!

I also did more “fun” things this weekend than usual. I saw “The Fault in our Stars” – a love story between 2 teens who have cancer, a best-selling novel by John Green. The movie was beautiful and poetic but what fascinates me more is the success story of John Green! He’s a fellow YouTuber (vlogbrothers) who got to share his talent in writing with the world on the big screen!

If you like romance, go see it! A lot of people (err everyone) told me I would cry, but as sensitive as I am in real life, I did not cry! I tear up for non-fiction and real life tragedies…but I don’t know if I’ve ever cried for a romance story. Hmmm…interesting…

Let me know if you went to go see it and what you thought!

Ah! And your new video. Arm toning time! I know you guys have been asking for an upper body challenge for a while. Here it is:

New workout! Get Sexy Arms & Abs!
It’s a song challenge and we’re doing pushup to planks! This workout challenged me enough so that around 75% of the way through, I really wanted it to end. Really badly. That’s when you know it’s good 😉

Beginners, do the pushup on your knees! Intermediate and advanced, gimme toes and go down as LOW as you can in that pushup!

Looks like you guys are doing super well on the #reJUNEivate workout calendar! Keep it up and be sure to download the Blogilates App (free in the App Store and on Google Play) to stay on track and see tons of before and afters from our own POPsters in the Blogilates Community!

Much love. Train hard. Be amazing.

Love,

<3 Cassey

I just have to say that i hate planking very much! lol! I used to make my push ups on my knees but after a few weeks, I’ve grown stronger. I can now do it on my toes. I really can now manage my own body weight. It’s really nice when I see results. Makes me motivate myself more to do better each day. Keep on posting your workout routines. It helps us a lot! Thanks!

Hi Cassey, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your total body workout dvd. I picked it up in a target in Flagstaff AZ and it has helped me so much. I used to be an athlete, I was 3 seconds off of a world record in swimming and ran about 5 miles every day. About 2 years ago I had a freak accident swimming in a lake, I the propellers of a boat motor someone dropped in the lake and it sliced both of my knees open down to the bone and sliced up one of my tendons. A few months after that I had a serious concussion and had some really bad post-concussion syndrome. I couldn’t run or swim because it wasn’t safe for me, I was passing out randomly for about 9 months afterwards. I got really depressed about it and was in worse shape than I have ever been in my life. I had never tried pilates or yoga before and picked up some dvd’s at target. Using your dvd I have come so far! I’ve gotten in to pretty good shape for me and because the workouts are low impact it never bothers my head. I’ve actually been able to start running a little again and am getting into horseback riding. I just wanted to let you know how you’ve helped and say a huge thank you 🙂

I actually had the awesome chance of going to Pompeii during a school trip, it was SO amazing. I’m not sure if you’ll reply, but I’m about to go on a one week vacation to Vancouver and Seattle in a few weeks, and I’m sort of scared. I’ve been doing really well with my fitness/weight loss journey, and I don’t know how to keep it up once I go on vacation…

  5. Hey hey! That sounds exciting, Pompeii! Definately want to go there some day!

  6. Jenny says:

and i have one strong request: could you please make the blogilates app accessible to non-facebook / twitter users? i have an account at the blogilates forum on the web, but i cannot use this to login for the app 🙁

  7. Maria says:

Cassey I can not believe it. I live in Italy and are of Pompeii near Naples. Please come. I had a group of Italian popsters. We are more than 300. I love you. Mary. You Renter my house <3

  8. Oh man I’m exactly the same way!!! I never cry in movies unless it’s non-fiction, or the subject matter is about real world global situations (history, slavery, etc.) but I did almost tear up once in a korean drama, haha.

  9. Lexi says:

Ahh, Pompeii is absolutely amazing! And I really want to see The Fault in Our Stars, but I think I’m going to try to read the book first 🙂

    Hi Cassey!

I just wanted to share something with you that I discovered when trying to modify my pushups. I’m not strong enough to be on my toes yet, but I also have knee problems (ex-torn acl and no cartilage/mensci) so the knee pushups weren’t really an option for me without excessive padding. But! I found a way to modify which doesn’t hurt my knees and lets me still do the work out! Basically what I do is grab a chair and put my hands on the seat of the chair to do the pushups. It makes it easier, and I can still be on my toes. The great thing about this too is that it has gradients. Say you’re too weak to use a chair, no problem, use a table, it’s higher up so it’s easier. But if the chair is way to easy for you and real pushups are too hard, you can just grab a step stool. Since it’s lower to the ground it’s harder.

Hopefully this will help someone – maybe it’s a good idea to include in your next arm video too! =]

  13. Could you help me with saddlebags? Since I had my daughter I can’t seem to be able to slim my outside legs! HELP!

    1. Kathy says:

      Hi Lady!
I don’t know if I can help much because I don’t know if you already tried out Casseys saddlebag shaver workout ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK-V7s0_-jc ). I’d also recommend Legilates Legsercizes, Perky butt and long lean legs, butt lift and slim thighs (especially the “fire-hydrant” move attacks this area, as far as I know cause I feel the burn there).
I’m sure you’ll get where you wanna be if you repeat the workouts often and eat clean, drink enough and, I’m sorry for this private question, you don’t need to answer and it only makes sense if your daughter is still a baby: are you breast-feeding? if yes, breast feeding can make you loose some weight. Of course everybody reacts differently cause every body is unique.

I hope this helped a little. I’m sorry I can’t do more 🙁 These were just thoughts that came to my mind considering saddlebags.
good luck to you, I’m sure you will get there!
      Kathy

    Hey Cassey!

Wow it sounds like a wonderful weekend wasn’t it? 🙂
After reading your post I’ve searched for the cinema program for today’s evening but my boyfriend doesn’t want to go with me because here in Germany it’s too hot (that’s what he said! I can aaaalways go in the cinema to watch a movie because I LOVE it so much! 🙂 )
Today it’s more than 90 °F and it’s very humid here, too :O
Buuut I will workout now and I fight myself! The heat won’t bring me down 😀 That’s something I’ve learned from you! 😀

    Greets, Romina

    1. Colleen says:

Is it that hot there too? I am in France and it is 35C (95F) . Do you find it is too hot to work out? I am sweating just walking across the room haha the cinema sounds like a great idea!

  15. Kathy says:

I guess it’s different walking through an exhibition with a guide or with your professor. I saw Pompeii exhibition in January in Germany with my college class. Was a one-day-trip and really great cause our teachers know so much about it and me too since I study classical and ancient studies. I think it’s cool you are interested in such things 😉 Sadly exhibition usually don’t offer more information than History Channel. They are made to inform people and to bring them near to real artefacts, but … yeah. For someone really interested or for a student like me it makes sense to buy a book to get more information.
I can tell you that often exhibitions or even visiting remains of Roman buildings can be a bit boring because most of the stuff that should be there is moved into a museum. like several wall paintings of Herculaneum (next to Pompeii, also a vesuv city) aren’t there anymore. good and bad in both ways. still it’s cool to stand in front of an ancient wall and see how it is built and imagine how people walked here thousands of years ago 😉

I loved this workout- Thanks! I somehow got myself to do it at 10:30pm. Here is a great 5 minute arm workout for “bat wings”

  17. Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I always enjoy going to museum exhibits and learning new things.

BTW, that push plank workout was so tough! I’m sure I’ll be sore tomorrow!!

    1. I actually was sore the next day! My Pects(chest muscle near arms) are sore and I need to stretch them out. This song challenge was amazing. I hope you enjoyed it was much as I did 🙂

  18. Juliana says:

I don’t usually cry during sad movies (Nicholas Sparks is an exception, though), but I just bawled my eyes out near the end of TFiOS. Definitely a first, crying in the theatres. 😛

  19. Kacy says:

Omg. Dying here. That was awesome. I only made it about half way through until I had to drop down onto my knees. I will make it all the way through one day 😀 Props to you for making it all the way! Beast mode! :]
