NYC, The Shorty Awards, and Meetup Craziness!

Hey POPsters!!!

So I am headed to the Shorty Awards in New York City on Monday! I haven’t done any big big trips in a long time so I’m kinda nervous about getting on a plane for an extended period of time. I really hate sitting down so much so I will make sure to do as many calf raises as possible when going to the restroom. No one likes bloated feet!

I was looking around forever for a quirky but cute dress to wear and was totally NOT FINDING ANYTHING! Until…I stumbled into Buffalo Exchange. Have you ever been to one? It’s an extremely trendy thrift shop, but all of the finds are very fashionable and in excellent quality. In fact, they have specific buyers there that filter the clothes that get sold to them. The clothes have to be in style, in season, and in great condition. When I was moving from Boston back to San Fran, I sold a ton of my clothes to them. You can choose to accept cash or get store credit for the goods you sell. Obviously you get more $ if you choose store credit!

Anyway, I was there looking for some old 80s looking clothes for my 8 Min Abs video (yes guys, it was an April Fool’s joke) and ended up in the dress section when I couldn’t find a thong leotard. I tried on a full sequined jumper and high waisted skirts for fun, then came across this gorgeous royal blue beauty!

What do you think? I got some comments on instagram that said it looks too ice skater-ish and yeah, it kinda does but I love it. I have a feeling this dress was from the 90’s era but short dresses and cinched waists with flared skirts are totally in now, so I think I’m all good. What’s your opinion? I can’t wait to wear it in a couple days!

The livestream will be on shortyawards.com on Monday. It starts at 6:30PM…so tune in! I’ll pretend you’re there with me rooting! Hope we can take home the #socialfitness award! Thank you to everyone who tweeted and voted. We got this far together…let’s see if we can take it HOME!

OHHHH! And since I will be in NYC for a while…ummm…like…let’s do a meetup!!!!

Im really looking forward to the UCLA meet up 🙂 Just started doing your workout videos on the first of April and it has been a difficult week and a half, but you get me through it! I’m also a UCLA student so I’m SUPER excited that I will get to workout with you right on campus!

As for music, I think you should look into the Flashdance soundtrack. Then I’d totally opt for “Girls just wanna have fun” as it is the perfect popster motto 🙂 And as a German I can’t help suggesting “99 Balloons”. For me it is one of the most typical songs of the eighties…

  3. Robyn says:

Would love to see a picture of you in the blue dress, it looks great!
If you ever want to do a pop pilates meet-up in Germany make sure to announce it all over!

Bwahahahaha! That was ridiculously funny and cute . and now I want tiny toamtoes and peaches. None of my plants will be bearing fruit for a while yet, the produce in the stores are terrible & the farmer’s market isn’t open yet :'( Ooooh, I’ll have to see if the wild strawberries are growing and/or ready yet. THOSE are so darned cute (and tasty, omg, so tasty!) Will have to share a picture when they’re all perfectly red and ripe.

  11. Kerstin says:

Ice-skaterish sounds about right for a pilates princess 🙂 I think you can totally pull that look off!

I only very recently came across your YouTube channel! I am excited (and slightly scared) to try your workouts. I wish I lived in/near LA but unfortunately I’m on the other side of the world so I can’t go to the 80’s workout party. 🙁

Please check out my blogs though:

  17. Mini says:

Have fun at the Shorty’s and take lots of pics! I love the dress, but can see the “Blades of Glory” aspect too… maybe try adding a fun colored belt to it? Whatever you do, I’m sure it will be awesome.

Have you ever tried trapezeing? I’m sure you’d be a natural at it and it’s super fun, too! I’m pretty sure NYC has a place you can do it at right in the middle of the city.

Thanks for everything! Can’t wait for you to come to Seattle someday and have fun in NYC.

Cassey, I absolutely LOVE the dress!

While you’re in NY, maybe you’d consider taking a side trip to Buffalo or Rochester?! I know Western NY isn’t as exciting as the big city, but I’m one POPSTER who would totally love to come take a class with you in person! I would probably be jumping around like crazy excited and would probably also need to get a picture while meeting you. Totally fan-girling right now, but oh well. It’s on the Bucket List!

I wish I still lived in the NYC area, I worked on 34th Street!

I LOVE that color blue! I can see the ice-skaterishness now that you mention it, but that works well with the fitness guru in you, in my mind anyway! 🙂

    Have a great trip!
