Week 3 Weigh In and Non-Scale Victories. | Day 22 of 90

Before we get to the week 3 weigh in, I’d like to share some non-scale victories!

  1. I have blogged every single day for 22 days!!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!!!
  2. After 4 years, the Blogilates HQ is finally painted a color I like! Apricot Jam! And it has new gates with electronic key pad thingies! SO LEGIT.
  3. New POPFLEX designs have come back and the fit is so good.
  4. We’re currently casting for a really important body positivity video I’m making and I think we may have just chosen the final ladies who will star in it…
  5. My splits are getting lower!!!! EEEEE!!!!

Front splits. This was me on August 19th.

This was me yesterday! September 5th.

The biggest difference here is that the hole under my hips is getting smaller! One day I hope for there to be no light shining through!

Middle splits. This was me on August 19th.

This was me yesterday! OH MY GOSH.

I am actually lower. WHAT IS HAPPENING!!????? I think one day I may be able to ACTUALLY touch the floor with my crotch!!! When that day comes, there will def need to be a huge celebration! Like, I’m gonna get myself a blue velvet cake and balloons and throw myself a crotch touching the floor party 😛

Now, before we get into the week 3 weigh in, I need to say this once more since there was an uproar a couple days ago about a post I did. Even though I do weigh ins and track my progress more than some people would like to see – I want to make it clear that analyzing numbers is not an unhealthy obsession – for me. Analytics are simply how I am able to strategically plan my next move. It’s what I do with my career and my businesses as well!

Week 3 weigh in:

I already predicted that this week, there’d be no change or even an increase in weight. Turned out this was true – I know my body well. The good news is that I had a 0.2% decrease in body fat and a 0.1% increase in muscle mass! That is awesome! Whoo!

I’m happy to see that whatever I am doing – it is working! Slow and steady wins this race. Nothing drastic or crazy, no starving, no fad diets. It’s just me being super focused. Enjoying my food. Enjoying my workouts. This time around, I’m doing it MY way…and I feel so alive.

DAY 21 RECAP:

Yesterday I went for a 3 mi run and then headed to stretch class at night! It was an interesting day for food. I wasn’t as ravenous as usual. Maybe it was because I had matcha collagen for breakfast? Not sure, but I ended the night with a very unusual dinner. I decided to go with what my heart wanted 🙂

Lunch was this keto bowl from Tocaya Organica. It had cauliflower rice, ground beef, brussel sprouts, bell peppers, avocado, olives, cheese, and hot sauce. I took out the olives. Not a fan. I also ordered guac on the side to share with Sam. So good. This one had pumpkin seeds and pomegranate seeds on top! Super filling. Would def order again.

Post lunch snacks – a slice of pepperjack cheese plus thai chili almonds and cashews.

When I got home for dinner, I wasn’t actually hungry but I did want something “fun” to eat. So I made myself a nut milk collagen matcha drink…and then…I was like…

I NEED ICE CREAM. So I ate the rest of the tub. It was glorious. It was perfect. I loved it. I’m willing to relinquish the cheeses from my lazy keto plan, but I dunno guys – this ice cream is too good!!! It’s gone for now…but I might just have to go get another tub!

HOLY FREAKING SHIT, congratulations on all your victories. And those splits improvements! Damn. Good job on your body fat and muscle mass changes.
Your lunch sounds pretty yummy. The power of (good) ice cream haha

    THANKS FOR THE UPDATES

Awesome job. So proud of you. Can you please share some insights on working on your splits? I use to do the splits back in my cheerleading days and it was effortless! But now not so much, yikes. Can’t seem to make any progress. Oh yeah, I get it, I was a lot younger, but still? HELP.

Cassey has a “Journey to Splits” stretch calendar that you can check out also on her site.

  5. Libby Baker says:

I love it Cassey. You’re so real. Just keep up the great work. My daughters and I have been doing Blogilates for probably 4 years. I’m about to be 59 and my daughters are 21 and almost 28. Keep up the great work. You have this. Lose it slow that way it won’t come back on. Thanks for all you do to make exercise fun and challenging! We love you !

    1. Madalina says:

You can do this! After 8 years of struggling in my relationship with food I finally found a way for me (with the help of a psychologist) and now steady and while enjoying food I am working on myself.

  6. tanyadsouza89 says:

I am so happy to see your progress..all the love and encouragement you need🤗🤗

  7. Rebeca says:

OMG! I need your stretching routine!! Please please please do a video with your current stretching routine(s). I don’t care if it’s an hour long haha. It’s just that, like working out, I find stretching easier when doing it with someone else.

You always motivate me and I love the stretched that you have out already but I need more. Or even just making a video with some resource/poses recommendation. Thank you for being you and always an inspiration!

    Love from Romania.

    1. blogilates says:

Ok I will work on this!

Could you let us know what scale you’re using to measure your fat/muscle %? Or if it’s not a scale, what you’re using? Because I really want to be able to measure myself too and have that numeric progress handy. Thanks for documenting your journey to us!

    1. blogilates says:

Yes! Here is one very similar to mine! https://amzn.to/304KpSS

  9. Bekks says:

Cassey, you continue to inspire me on my own journey. Seeing you get these results IN A HEALTHY WAY is so empowering for me after being stuck for so long in the thought process that you could only lose weight by doing the “fad diets’, starving yourself, not being able to enjoy food. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

    1. blogilates says:

YES! And that is the whole thing. It can be done. In a healthy way – and in the way that is best for you!

  10. Caro says:

Hi Cassey! What are you using to measure your fat and muscle mass percentage?

  11. Sara says:

I’m so disappointed. I’m not chatty going at all and I feel like I’m the same. I want to see the changes you’re seeing. I dont want to be stuck with an eating disorder the rest of my life and I’m trying to follow you on this journey but it’s not working for me. I’m so upset and frustrated with myself.

    1. blogilates says:

Please don’t be disappointed with yourself. What it means is that you haven’t found the thing that works FOR YOU. What works for me may or may not work for you. You need to experiment and you need to get to know your body better. Take notes about how you feel after you eat something or do a certain workout. You’ll be able to figure out patterns. Perhaps go to your doctor and ask to get some blood work done to see if there is something else going on, something deeper. Don’t worry Sara! Give yourself time to experiment!

      1. Sara says:

Thank you for your response. You’re an amazing person and a huge influence on so many women. I hope to gain control of my relationship with food. I am sticking with it to follow you on this journey. Thank you again.

  12. Caroline C says:

Please share the recipe for the collagen matcha drink! Sounds and looks soooo good!!

    1. blogilates says:

I literally just mix the matcha collagen powder with either water or nut milk!

      1. Gaby says:

What brand do you use? I would be interested in trying it. Have you seen improvement to your skin by drinking collagen?

        1. blogilates says:

Currently I am using Vimco Wellness collagen matcha. I’ve seen extra growth in my hair and nails. My skin is better too but not sure if it’s the collagen or my new skincare routine!

  13. Beth says:

I weigh myself everyday. You are exactly right. Without good data, you can see trends and make decisions. I don’t worry about a 1 or 2 lb fluctuation but I do want to see a downward trend. It’s like 2 steps forward 1 step back. If you don’t watch the trend, you may only pay attention to the 1 step back all the time and forget about how much progress you have made. And you can’t forget that scale weight doesn’t correlate to inches lost and gained.

  14. Olga says:

Hmmm. It seems like you copied the fat and muscle % from 23.08.

  15. Sarah says:

Have you tried the dairy free lower calorie ice cream? They.are.amazing. I really really recommend So Delicious brand. Their texture is SPOT ON. No idea about the keto aspect of it but I’d choose some carbs over mammalian estrogens but that’s just me you do you! If you want a dairy free treat though that brand is the best.

  16. Suzie says:

There’s only -0.2% reduction in body fat and 0.1% gain in muscle mass – the numbers for body fat and mucle mass in the first column of week 3 table are taken from 8/23 and not from 8/30 🙂

    1. blogilates says:

      AHH fixing now! Thanks!

  17. Anisa says:

How many grams of carb do you eat a day please

  18. Laura says:

I love the fact that you don’t waste food! I hate to see how easy people throw to garbage any food.

    1. Ania says:

Me too, it’s terrible, how easy we can’t throw away our food. I like to do my grocery more often and buy less than buy too much and don’t eat it.

      1. Ania says:

        *we CAN 😉

    2. blogilates says:

I’ve seen people leave full plates at food at restaurant because they can’t stand to eat leftovers. It’s insane. I knew someone who did that.

  19. Laura says:

You didn’t been so ravenous because the menstrual situation it’s pass. Before those days our body it’s a monster 😂👏 keep going!

    1. Laura says:

“Have been” sorry. 😄 Like someone said, collagen it’s whortless. Give up at that. It’s money waste.

      1. Emily says:

Its been clinically proven to increase collagen levels in your skin

        1. Claire says:

Could you link me to that study that came to that conclusion?
From my understanding collagen is too big of a protein to be absorbed in its original state at the small intestines and that your body cannot differentially produces more collagen due to eating more collagen.

  20. Jane says:

And also you lost 0.2%, not 0.5% body fat. It was 23.5 on 8/30 not 23.8

    1. blogilates says:

Ha just realized, thanks will change!

  21. Laura says:

Actually you improved your muscle mass by 0.1%! The last table isn’t right because it wasn’t 33.7 but 33.6 on 8/30/19. Well done!

    1. Martina says:

Total change is correct but yes, the first column in week 3 should be the same as the week 3 column above.
So she’s reaching her goals slowly but surely 🙂

    2. blogilates says:

Oopsies, you’re right. I need to update that! Thanks for the callout.

  22. Laura says:

Actually you improved your muscle mass by 0.1%! The last table isn’t right because it wasn’t 33.7 but 33.6 on 8/30/19. Well done!

  23. Sarah B says:

Hi, you made a smalle mistake in your analytics. You are comparing with the body fat and muscle mass of 9/23 (23,8 and 33,7) instead of the numbers from 9/30 (23,5 and 33,6).

  24. Lydia says:

Cassey, what is your bone density? I love the other statistics but are you gaining in bone density?

  25. Arielle chan says:

Why don’t you have the links below to go to the previous blog post or the next blog post? Not sure if it’s on desktop, but it isn’t on mobile.

    1. blogilates says:

If you click on 90 day journey at the top of this blog post it will take you to all of them.

  26. YeasminAlo says:

Congratulations Cassey Just Becauseof u I also opened I fitgram and in sha Allah I’ll be blogging with u on my IG 😍

  27. killmotion says:

I love the analytics side, too. I track my numbers and look for trends so I know what to change.

  28. Kaite Thayer says:

Thank you for your honest tracking!! It’s really motivating me to give a 90 day challenge a try! You inspire me ❤️

  29. Bri says:

Good for you!! Glad you are making progress. I need to work on my splits. You also don’t need to clarify anything repeatedly. You’ve done it enough. If people choose to not listen to what you are saying, that’s not on you.

    1. Laura says:

Yes…they will chose to see what they want and it’s not our problem 😌
