Wake up. Drink Up. Week #2 Blogilates Challenge

Wake up. Drink Up. Week #2 Blogilates Challenge

Did you know that if you drink a 160z glass of water right after waking you will speed up your metabolism by 24% for the next 90 minutes?

And that drinking lemon water will:

  1. strengthen your immune system
  2. aid digestion
  3. clear up skin
  4. freshen your breath
  5. kick your coffee habit

This week’s challenge is to drink a 16oz glass of water right when waking up. Or if you can’t stand doing anything until after you brush your teeth…then within 10 min. You may not like it, you may in fact hate this challenge, but do it for a week, and tell me how amazing and more energized you feel. By that point, it will have become a part of your daily routine.

Do you accept the challenge?

I dont like drinkin water so i said let me try somethin new. Lemon with water, and boy let me tell u i really. I might have only one cup of juice and that will be crystal light. But i never knew that water with lemon have great benefits to ur health and skin. Im glad i started drinkin it

I never drank even close to 16 oz waking up. SO this has motivated me to consume the entire bottle (16ox) in one go!

I thought i would feel too full frm it to ingest the full amount, but it went down so smoothly and my body was mroe than happy to accommodate it! I’m drinking more water throughout the day and just feel better when i start it off right!

Challenge accepted! (now on to the challenge to do it for the rest of my life) 😀

I always drink a big glass of water when I wake up, so this won’t be a challenge for me 🙂

  8. Kate McElhare says:

I do this most days before the challenge, but I have been drinking my water ice cold in the mornings this week and I only have coffee after I am done one glass of water. Then I sip my coffee and 2nd glass together. I’m done 6 glasses and currently drinking a glass of green tea as we speak!- and it’s only 3:40 pm 🙂

  9. Alexa says:

I drink about 5-7 16 oz things of water through the day is that good or bad?

  10. Tracey says:

Totally accepted the challenge today and it was amazing! I felt so much better and although I am aware of my portion sizes and food voice telling me when I’m hungry, I felt so much more in control of my eating habits! The lemon is especially tasty as well! I already drink more than enough water, but because of this, I’m going to drink more!

  11. Aneta says:

    I do accept.
I will do this for the next 5 days!

    great info!

  12. summerhues says:

i used to do that but i will feel kinda uncomfy after that. Im not too sure if its too acidic and linked to gastric triggering problems. Will drinking water w lemon juice/lemon slices in cause anything like that?

    1. blogilates says:

it’s different for every body, so see what works for you.

  13. Kat says:

Trying. I did do 8 oz. Will try to work up to 16.

  14. Jazz Afire says:

Just downed my first glass of lemon water this morning 🙂
And all you guys, please remember: Don’t brush your teeth right after, if your drinking lemon water, because it will damage your teeth!

  15. Tiffany says:

This is a double challenge for me! I dont even drink a glass of water a day 🙁 but i’ll do it!

As for the lemons, can we squeeze it into our water the night before?

  16. maddy says:

sadly i cannot accept the challenge, i don`t have much time in between waking up and going to work. drinking that amount of water would make eating my oatmeal+milk in time impossible. i do drink green tea at work and make 2-3 portions of lemonade/week at home.

  17. Macel says:

Hi Cassey! I’ve been drinking warm Calamansi (Philippine lemon) juice first thing in the morning for months now, it’s great for digestion and cleanses the liver.

Please check my blog, I made a post for you 🙂 http://mydessertdiet.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-weight-lose-journey.html

  18. Moa says:

I already drink heaps of water, usually with lemon in the morning as it is the only thing that keeps my multi-resistant urinary infection away (sick of eating antibiotics that never helps). Lemon also lowers the glychemic index of the food you eat, meaning it slows down the carbs so they wont have as big affect on your blood sugar levels and will keep you fuller longer – so drink it with meals too or squeeze it over your “clean food”!

  19. Saima says:

    Easy peasy challenge accepted. 🙂

  20. Pia says:

    I thought it said 160 ounces :O
All good, I drink a glass of water every morning and quite enjoy it as part of my routine.

  21. Hazel says:

Ahh this is hard! Not so bad when hungover or it’s hot, but cold weather and cold water.. Eek. I always try though since it’s best to have a glass before a workout. Challenge accepted 😛

  22. Pia says:

    I thought it sounds 160 ounces :O
All good, I drink a glass of water every morning and quite enjoy it as part of my routine.

  23. Shannon says:

    I’ll give it a go.
Usually I can’t eat or drink anything for about 30-45 mins after waking up because it makes me nauseous. But maybe water is the acceptation.

  24. Challenge accepted! I have my own personal challenge of drinking 100 oz of water every single day, so knocking out the first 16oz first thing will help! Water is amazing and so good for you!

  25. Marloes says:

I always drink a big glass of water when I wake up! I didn’t know it was that good. So this is going to be easy 🙂

  26. Jacqui says:

    Challenge accepted 🙂

I actually started doing this on my own a couple of weeks back because it somehow felt better, to hydrate before breakfast. Now I know why! Thank you for another lovely post <3

  28. chelsea says:

    challenge accepted

  29. Shelby says:

I’ve been drinking a glass of water right when I get up for the past year, and I’ll never go back! My skin is so much clearer and I feel more energized. I think I’ve only been drinking around 8oz though…I’ll double it!

  30. Erica says:

Your challenge has been accepted. I can’t wait! 🙂

  31. Chrissy says:

I recently started to drink a full glass of ice cold water before diving into my morning coffee and I have to agree that this does WONDERS for not only my mood, but I feel like I don’t need to drink that second cup of coffee just to be energized in the morning. Plus, bonus!, it fills you up and you won’t want to devour half that stack of pancakes you just made for your kiddos. 😛

  32. Zoë says:

    Challenge Accepted! 🙂

    1. Zoë says:

wow, that was a lot of water and felt a bit overwhelming but give it a few days and I’ll check back in on results

  33. Spencer says:

    Hi,
just wondering if you know if hot or cold makes a difference? THANKS 🙂

    1. blogilates says:

I have heard that cold actually forces your body to burn a wee bit more calories because it has to work harder to warm it up.

      1. Courtney Lee says:

just stumbled upon your blog! and can’t wait to naviaget through it=)

but i saw this comment and just wanted to throw my 2 cents in; I once watched one of those mythbuster type shows (yea I’m a nerd lol) and this “cold water burns calories” was one of the myth’s explored. The show said that yes, cold water CAN burn more calories (aka a thermogenic effect); however, the water has to be ice cold for it to happen. Otherwise there is really not very much significant affect at all! Bummer huh? The last thing I want to do when I wake up at 6:45am and it’s freezing cold in the house/outside is to chug a glass of freezing water haha I’ll forgo the 5 calories I burn !

        Hope this helps:)
