Vegan Whipped Dalgona Matcha Latte Recipe
Hey guys!
Remember when everyone went NUTS over whipped coffee?! It was all over TikTok and I have to admit I was a little sad because I’m just not a coffee girl! Since I didn’t want to totally miss out on the whipped latte craze, I was determined to find a way to make an alternative.
And guys…I did it. I made whipped matcha.
It’s just as frothy and pretty as whipped coffee…just without the coffee! And it’s VEGAN!
Wanna know the secret ingredient?
Here’s how you make whipped matcha
Gather your ingredients:
- 1 can garbanzo bean liquid (ONLY the liquid)
- 1 tsp matcha
- 2-3 packets sweetener
- 2 Tbsp hot water
- Ice
- Almond milk
Annnd make your beautiful whipped matcha!
- Pour the garbanzo bean juice in a bowl and mix with a hand mixer for 3-5 minutes, until stiff peaks form. This is called “aquafaba.” Such a fun name!
- In a separate bowl, combine your matcha, 1-2 packets of sweetener and hot water. Stir it up!
- Then, add the matcha mixture to the aquafaba and mix it up with a hand mixer.
- Grab a glass and fill it with ice and almond milk. Add more sweetener and stir it up.
- Finally, pour that matcha whip right on top of your almond milk!

This might be the PRETTIEST drink I’ve ever made.

Tried it this weekend! And… I really wanted it to work but unfortunately, I didn’t like it at all! It tasted too much like chickpeas. Don’t get me wrong, I like chickpeas but not in my drinks…
Added a few drops of peppermint extract to the matcha mixture. Tasted amazing!
What type of sweetener did you use? I love matcha but have not got it for at home use yet!
I’ll have to make this (will report back when I do).
BTW I would be totally keen for another 6wk challenge (the last 6wk challenge was on today’s calendar hence why I was reminded). I feel like 6 weeks continues to give me the message that change takes time, that consistency doesn’t happen in just one week. A week is simply one brick to the house that is exercise.
I never heard about that garbanzo bean sauce! Any substitute for it?
When you buy a chickpea can, the liquid inside is the aquafaba that she is talking in the video about ;). Try to buy organic one, with not so many additives. Good luck!
Garbanzo bean juice is basically a water that comes in tinned chickpeas, it s well known for being an alternative to egg whites in cooking/baking as it whips to the same texture. It’s not really about the beans themselves, it’s just that fluffy whipped texture it gets (plus it’s basically tasteless). All you need is tinned chickpeas/garbanzo beans and just drain the water.
Food is great
Can you sub the bean juice for broth/thick stock?
Broth is to thick and too flavorfull and will not form a froth…aquafaba is actually used to replace eggs in a recep so try buying a chickpea can and use the liquid inside for it, that is your aquafaba

Love matcha! Any alternative for garbanzo bean juice?
I’ve seen other recipes blimey for this using full fat coconut milk (or cream I don’t remember remember) but it needs to be chilled before using toot!
Hahahaha blimey=online and toot=too. Autocorrect FAIL
Almond milk isn’t healthy…
