Merry Christmas and happy holidays! I just arrived back in the Bay Area with my family. The airport wasn’t TOO BAD this time. I guess I traveled pretty late. Thanksgiving was a mad house.
We had a nice little Christmas Eve dinner and just now, I finished wrapping all of the presents for tomorrow morning. We honestly haven’t “done” Christmas in like 5 years…wait, or maybe even longer? No really, I’m serious. Every year, one of my family members has been away or we just haven’t been in the spirit. But this year, somehow the holiday energy invigorated us again and well, there’s gifts under the tree! I kinda feel like a kid again 🙂
Anyway, I wanted to share with you something special that happened last night. I’ve been wanting to tell you guys something for the past few months but I just couldn’t until I saw it for myself. Guys…
My POP Pilates DVD is in TARGET!

I couldn’t believe it when I was first told this news a while back. I mean, the chance to be on the Target shelves next to Jillian Michaels, Denise Austin, Tracy Anderson…Billy Blanks!!?! These are fitness legends. I am a little baby compared to them! But I think Gaiam and Target saw something different.
I am completely honored to have this opportunity and I owe it all to YOU GUYS. You are the ones who brought attention to Blogilates and made people take a look at this bubbly fitness instructor. Without you and without YouTube…life would be very very different. I’d still be teaching fitness, but I don’t think on a world wide scale like this. You are the reason why Blogilates continues to be discovered and shared by more and more people looking to get fit in a fun and positive way. You being here with me means EVERYTHING to my heart.
And you know what else? I’m super proud to be representing Asian Americans in the fitness field!! (Yay-yuhhhh!) And…as an Asian American woman. (Yay-YAY-yuhhhhh!!!) I hardly ever talk about being Vietnamese-Chinese because I see myself as just a person, not defined by ethnicity, but you know what, when I was in the DVD aisle, I didn’t notice anyone else that looked like me. You hardly ever see Asians in entertainment or media, but YouTube has literally broken down traditional barriers in the industry. YouTube allowed me to showcase my talent for anyone who wanted to watch. I didn’t have to perform for an agent, a manager, or sell my soul for a huge deal. I just got to play myself. And you guys loved me. I am so lucky and so grateful for you.
So thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
Also…someone mentioned last night on facebook…”Wasn’t Target the place where you melted down and cried because you saw your oGorgeous bag in SHAPE Magazine for the first time?”
Yes. Yes it was. Shortly after that, I quit my 9-5 job.
It seems that Target is the place of dreams 🙂
The store is probably closed now but once it opens again, please go get yourself a copy! It would be the best way to support me and keep our community growing. The buyer said that if enough of my DVDs sell, they can make Blogilates a permanent name on the shelves. So please, let’s show them our POPster power. Let’s get more of the world involved in working out the way we do.

I can’t believe people get hate for some of the things they do, myself included. I’m similar to you in the fact that people always so I don’t look anything like someone that is into “fitness”. Just because I don’t have every muscle in my body toned and I’m skinnier than a stick? Trust me, I love toned muscles, and I have a few myself. I do know though that my body physically cannot be any skinnier. I have a bigger frame there’s no way I could be as small as some girls. Plus just because of my genetics if I was so skinny that you could see all my muscle it would be very unhealthy. I just wish people would understand everyones different, whether “too skinny” or “too fat”. For those out there who are struggling, I get called a mix of “anorexic” and “obese” in the same day, haters are just trying to hate, jealous, or insecure themselves. Don’t listen to them most of the time they aren’t right and you’re the only one that can truly know your body.
If I’m honest, I get very insecure when I compare myself to Cassey. I wish I could work out more but I just don’t have the time of day. Besides that, I’m a completely different human being, with different genes, and a different body. So I know in my heart that I’ll always have my Hispanic curves and that my stomach will never be as flat as hers but it’s hard remembering that sometimes. I also want to be an actress, so when I see people such as Jenefer Lawrence or Ke$ha being called fat, I get very insecure. I starved myself, I used fad diets, but I only seemed to gain weight. It wasn’t until I started just using moderation as my diet that I actually started losing weight. I didn’t change what I was eating (other than avoiding sugar) but I just ate in moderation and lost more weight than ever. But, even with that I still felt inferior to all the girls I saw around me. If anyone has any tips to body positivity please let me know!

Cassie, I have been doing your workouts for over a year now and am in the best shape of my life. I’m 36 and can’t wait to do my workouts with you nearly every day. I got goosebumps watching this video of you. It felt like one of my best friends being honored. Congratulations! I am so happy for you!
