Soooooo for day 2 of the Popflex team retreat, we kinda bought out the entire Georgia Aquarium to have to ourselves…and it was a magical, emotional evening. I myself look to nature, and the ocean especially, to bring back into perspective how small my problems really are. They’re literally NOTHING in comparison to the magnanimous beauty of nature. I wanted the team to feel the calm and power of what it’s like to be under the sea.

Retreat Day 2!
Ok let’s back this recap up to the beginning! The morning was focused on wellness, so some of us took a reformer Pilates class, while the others did aerial yoga, and some chose to sleep in. After the workouts, we knew people would be hungry, so we surprised them with… a crepe truck! And omg these crepes were so good I’m still thinking about them. If you’re ever in the Atlanta area, you gotta go to Lisa’s Creperie.

Breakfast was followed by a matcha whisking workshop. Why? First of all, why not? But also because I love matcha and whisking my own every morning grounds me, so I wanted to share that experience with the team. And it’s a wellness morning!

Then, in school field trip fashion, we boarded a bus and headed over to the Popflex Design Studio, where the design team got to reveal the 2027 Lunar New Year drop, developments on the natural fiber collection, a sneak peak on some fun drops coming out next year, annnnd a private viewing of Swim 2027. Based on people’s reactions… I think you’re gonna die.
Of course we needed snacks, so we also set up a cute lil charcuterie cart inside. Everything was sooo good and we got to keep our own name-engraved charcuterie boards.

Remember how I said we rented out the entire aquarium to ourselves? Obvi we had to dress for the occasion sooo the dress code was Under the Sea and omg EVERYONE understood the assignment, including this random octopus and lobster that showed up… which turned out to be Jackelyn’s husband and one of our employees.

We got to dine in this beautiful ocean room, and there as a cellist, hors de oeurves, drinks, and we even commissioned a watercolor artist to come paint live pictures of sea animals or people’s outfits.
To end the night, we passed out blind box hand-crocheted emotional support animals from a local artist in Georgia. It was truly the perfect way to remember this unforgettable evening.

I said it in the video, but I’ll say it again. As an ocean lover and diver, aquariums are extremely conflicting for me. On one hand…since it’s already there…I HOPE they inspire people to learn more about the ocean and want to protect it (that night one of our team members said they wanted to get scuba certified bc of this experience!) but on the other hand, I do not think any animal – land or sea – should be held captive.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this recap of day 2! Day 3 coming up next!
