I really want to try Ezekiel bread.

I really want to try Ezekiel bread.

I’ve pretty much removed breads, pastas, and rice out of my diet because it bloats me uncomfortably and causes indigestion. Will Ezekiel be the answer to eating bread again?

Not sure if it is nutritionally worth it for the money yet (2x the cost of Oroweat) but I’m gonna stop by Whole Foods tomorrow to pick up a loaf and see how it tastes. I’ve read that it’s flavor is nutty – some people love it and some people think it’s digusting! My tastebuds are weird. I think I’ll like it.

Below is a quick comparison of Ezekiel vs. whole grain and whole wheat bread.
Calories/Protein/Carbs/Fat/Fiber (per slice)

Ezekiel:
80/4/15/0.5/3

Oroweat Whole Grain Whole Wheat:
90/4/17/1/3

Nature’s Own Whole Wheat:
50/4/10/1/2

Here’s a small blurb on Ezekiel:

Food for Life brand’s Ezekiel 4:9 organic sprouted whole grain products.

The process of sprouting changes a grain’s composition in numerous ways to make it more beneficial as a food. It increases the content of vitamins (e.g., C, B2, B5, and B6) and beta carotene dramatically, up to eightfold.

Even more important—especially considering how many people suffer from indigestion—it breaks down phytic acid (a mineral blocker). Present in the bran of all grains and the coatings of nuts and seeds, phytic acid inhibits the body’s absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc and can neutralize digestive enzymes, resulting in digestive disorders. Sprouting breaks down the complex sugars responsible for intestinal gas and transforms a portion of the starch into sugar. It also inactivates aflatoxins, which are toxins produced by fungus and potent carcinogens often found in grains (Chek 2004, 64).

The whole wheat bread that the American public has been led to believe is healthy contains processed wheat, which is deficient in nutrients. Hence the extremely high prevalence among Americans of digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome and constipation. Chronic constipation can lead to many potentially dangerous health disorders and also can make losing weight quite difficult. Simply replacing bread with sprouted grain bread can radically improve your digestion and your ability to lose weight.

Hmm sounds good but it will all go down to the bloating factor! Will write more when I experiment…

Love,

Cassey

I totally agree about eating before working out because when I dont I feel tired and sluggish, matter fact, I almost passed out once doing the intermittent fasting. Also, what do you guys think about detox tea’s? I stumbled across this blog talking about how drinking red tea can have a major impact on your waistline and I am thinking of getting the product weightlossurus.wordpress.com What do you think about it?

Based on what you say (and I know I’m a little late here lol), I think you might have a gluten intolerance! My sister has one so my family gave up wheat and things like that with her in support. Obviously I think you’ve got the under control but I just figured I’d mention it! #cheapcleaneats is a life saver btw!

This is all I ever eat! For bread, I mean. I love it, especially the sesame variety…and I always toast it golden-brown for fantastic flavor.
