It’s time to get on track…TOGETHER!!! Join my Weight Loss Challenge!

Hello POPsters!

Loved seeing all of your Flourless Pizza pictures on facebook and instagram! Doesn’t it taste unreal?!! Keep it comin! For those of you who haven’t tried yet, I COMMAND you to make it this weekend!

Alrighty guys. You know how I wrote about gaining weight the past few months since the move? Well, it’s time to change that progression and reverse it. Summer’s right around the corner and I wanna ramp up my workouts, clean up my diet even more, and ultimately lose some of that extra stress fat! It’s not about trying to “be skinny” – it’s about getting my fire revved up! About finding that passion to kill burpees like a madwoman! About being super dialed in. As a result, weight loss will come, but I won’t let vanity be my goal. It’s too shallow to push you through a tough day. You’ve got to find a deeper goal within.

So guess what?

For the month of June, we are going to do it together.

I will be tracking my progress for you to see. Instagramming sweaty pics and clean meals to motivate you.

But you know what? I’m gonna kick it up a notch and take you by the hand with me, because I know that we need to share our success every step of the way. I’m not gonna let you just read my blog and watch me work. No. You will work too. I will make sure of it.

How?

Because I’m gonna make you put your money on it.

uhhuhsure

No really I’m making you. I’m making you bet that you will lose weight this month. In fact, I’m making you put down $25 that you will lose 4% of you weight in 28 days beginning June 3rd, 2013.

what

Yes. That’s not too crazy! In fact, it’s very healthy. For someone who is 100 lbs, you will need to lose 4 lbs (1 lb a week). For someone who is 200 lbs, you will need to lose 8 lbs (2 lbs a week). Of course, only join the challenge if you WANT to lose fat. I do, so I’m asking anyone else who does to join me too. Is your heart beating? Are you scared?

dontbeafraid

You’re going to have all the support you need! POPsters from all around the world! I’m using DietBet to organize the weight loss party for us. Basically what will happen is that you join now, put in your $25 bet, and the official weigh-in commences on June 1st, 2013. Stragglers can join up to June 3rd when the game begins for everyone. Also, for anyone that joins between now and the start of the game, I will send 10 random POP Pilates DVDs out to help give you the tools you need to succeed!

Then on July 1st, 2013, we do a final weigh in. At that point, if you have lost for example, 5 lbs, you get your your $25 back PLUS any money in the pot that’s left in there from people who didn’t meet their expected weight loss. So if 1000 people bet $25 that they’d lose weight, we’d have $25,000 in the pot. Say 50% of you make your goal (or exceed it!!!) then we have $25,000 to split between 500 of us, meaning everyone gets back $50 when you originally had bet $25!

progressnotperfection

The way I look at it is like this. It’s not really a bet because we’re not leaving it up to the diet gods to determine your fate. YOU actually have all the tools you need to make this happen. All you have to do is put in your time and your genuine desire to succeed. And…you have me! I’m doing it too!

If you go to Dietbet.com/Blogilates, you will find that I’ve already invited some of my close friends and family into the game. A lot of people have been complaining about how low energy they’ve been feeling and how they don’t feel confident about their bodies, so I thought it’d be cool to make a huge fitness fiesta out of it! And now I am personally inviting you to take part in it 🙂

Also, for those of you worried about people knowing how much you weigh, your pics, etc…you have the choice to make everything private. Or you can share it with the community. The point is the let our POPster friends from everywhere motivate one another. We will be training hard, we will be eating on point, and we will be seeing results.

doingitforme

I even asked my lovely mommy to do this with me as she’s always down on herself about her body. At first she kept saying “No, no, no! I don’t like gambling! I’m gonna lose money!” I said, “Mommy!!! It’s not gambling because you have the POWER to create your own destiny.” We argued for about 30 min and she kept saying no. I was like, “Look, if you keep saying you’re gonna lose $, you’re basically BETTING against your chance to succeed. You’re betting that you’re going to continue eating food that you know is bad for you and you’re betting that you’re not going to exercise. Why would you do that?” She paused. There was silence. Finally…

…she said okay.

And for those of you who want to actually lose weight, c’mon, let’s do this!!! You have the power to make the changes you wanna see. If not now, and with me and thousands of other motivated people…then when?

nextfewmonths

I will also be pairing the DietBet party with our June Calendar (who’s excited for it?) so there will be routines planned for quicker fat burn. And for anyone who isn’t looking to lose weight, don’t worry, I’ll still be here with new workouts every Monday and new recipes every Thursday on YouTube.com/Blogilates.
loselittlebylittle

Also, for anyone doing this, I want you to remember that this isn’t for making $ or being dictated by the number on the scale. The scale is just simply a means of tracking progress. In fact, if we all had a body fat % machine at home, or someone to caliper us all, I’d much prefer that so we can track fat loss not just weight loss. But the truth is, we don’t all have an expensive tracker at home, so we will use a scale instead. As long as you go into with the right mindset, you will have healthy thoughts along the journey. If you begin to stray…post your feelings on the Blogilates community feed on DietBet. We will all lift you back up!

struggletriumph

Also, the fitness and weight loss journey is not an easy one. I will let you know first hand. But you can learn to love the hard work and then cherish your hard-earned results.

Ok guys, I put my $25 in. I’m personally really excited to be kicking my butt crazy style again! Oh jeez, I can’t wait!!!

I also decided to play for charity. I am supporting Action Against Hunger which is a wonderful organization that feeds malnourished children all over the world while giving them access to clean water.

Now it’s your turn:

Join the Blogilates Dietbet here. And invite your friends too! Let’s go big! And let’s show the POWER of what it means to be a POPster!

infinitepower

To a successful journey of health, strength, determination, and resilience…LET’S GO BEAST MODE!!!!!!!!

Sweat Happy,

<3 Cassey

I cannot even believe the transformation. I have tried to lose weight many times in the past. Some things were somewhat successful, but it just seemed that I kept hitting a brick wall over the last year or so. I was pretty desperate by the time I made the choice to try this program what helped me lose 21 pounds in about 6 weeks

In my mind, the best way to lose weight healthily is fitness. Together with healthy foods it will keep you in good shape and mood. In order to provide enough nutrition and be able to train more effectively I take NavySeal Formula by Military Grade. This is a dietary supplement, initially developed for soldiers. This product is amazing! Herbal compounds make it safe to take, while unique formula provides perfect strength and endurance. This supplement is good for everyone, who wants to keep fit.

I’ve just joined the challenge! I’m looking forward to it. I keep gaining and losing the same 5-10 pounds over and over. I really enjoy the workouts Cassey. I have told so many people about your website. I love exercising and you make it even more fun with your positive and fun energy! I have one question about the food for the challenge – will you have a specific meal plan posted? Or do we just use one of the ones you already have posted. Also, I have not yet tried your carb-free pizza, but I’m going to buy some cauliflower and give it a try. Will let you know what I think … I’m totally psych’d!

Ooooooh ho ho I am SO doing this. Not with the bet… I created an account and everything to later realize that 25USD in COP is actually a bit too much for me right now to put on the line lol, but I WILL take on the challenge from day one!!! With all the effort put on it and I’ll get to at least that 4%…. at least. *wishes deep inside to go further than that* 🙂

Cassey… you rock!!! ♥ Bring it on!!! haha

  17. Katie says:

Casey! This sounds great! I really want to join but I’m on vacation June 20-28… Do you guys think it’d be stupid to try to lose that much when I’m going on vacation a full week? I do want to learn to eat healthy no matter what the situation tho…. Maybe this will give me the motivation!

  18. Maggie says:

Here is a tip for anyone looking to lose weight…

Write down your weight loss goal. Having written goals helps with motivation and keeps one on track to to succeed.

Not only write it down, but verbally repeat the several times throughout the day with passion and conviction.

Here is the key… don’t write, “I want (or I will) lose 10 lbs. Write the goal as if you have already achieved your goal and with a deadline… “I have lost 10 lbs by July 15th, if not sooner.” And make sure to sign your name at the bottom,

This would be too long of a post to explain the mental, psychological and emotional reasons why this works. It has worked brilliantly for me with goal planning.

    Recap:
    1. Have clear defined goal.
    2. Write as if you have already achieved your goal.
    3. Have a deadline (date) for success.

    Best wishes for success!

  19. Mireia says:

I’m a bit scared to join. Is it possible to lose these 5.3 lbs or so (I’m 132 lbs), or would I just waste my money?

    1. Mireia says:

Anyway – could I join even if I don’t have PayPal account?

  20. Amanda says:

I agree with everyone that it is good to be as healthy as possible and if you feel like you want to push yourself to have a slightly slimmer stomach or thighs and you can safely do this without becoming obsessed with weight loss or losing too much weight, then go for it! There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel more confident. However, I do agree with those that are concerned over the implications of this challenge, that even if you are thin and eat healthy you should try to lose more weight if you start to gain weight or develop an extra little layer of fat. True story, my boyfriend watches me do these workouts and one day he asked me in a very serious manner if I was working out to “look like Casey” because he said that he thought she was a little too skinny and did not want me to try to lose weight and be as thin, slender and curveless as possible. I feel for you Casey, gaining weight after being the size you want to be is hard, but as a public role model there is a very thing line to walking in not promoting the idea that you should always try to be skinnier and slimmer, because honestly I think most people that want to be slimmer are not truly doing it “just to feel healthier”. I have come to the realization that being healthy and beautiful is not about losing weight or being slender.

  21. Bailey says:

    Cassey,
I really want to do this diet bet and follow the 90 day meal plan. Should I still have a YOLO meal once a week or should I just eat entirely clean the while month? I’m up for either!

  22. I’m totes doing this!!!!! Just the extra push of motivation I need =)

  23. Didi says:

This is a great idea! I would very much like to participate, but is it possible if I live in Europe?

  24. Eden says:

Well, I really want to loose weight. But the problem is firstly that i’m confused with a lot of your leg workouts because they will obviously build muscle in the legs but wont that make them appear larger? I want to make my legs appear thinner not muscular. My second problem is that I can’t join because I know my parents wont let me. I’m 14 so i cant bet the money myself. So I was wondering can I still participate even if i don’t bet? Thanks 🙂

    1. Kristin says:

what makes your legs appear larger is not the muscle mass but the fat covering it up. unless you start doing super crazy professional athlete/body builder workouts and eat tons of protein a day, you won’t bulk up. pair the strength workouts with cardio and clean eating to get rid of the fat and soon you will feel your legs changing. building muscle is a good thing! you can be skinny and still have flabby thighs because you don’t work your muscles enough. if you want to be lean and fit, work your legs!

  25. Katherine says:

I’ve joined. I need to lose weight pretty badly because I have a BMI of 32 which is in the obese range. This is exactly the kind of thing that is really going to help me to reduce my weight and reduce my risk of a lot of the health issues that plague my family right now. I think it’s up to everyone to take responsibility for themselves when it comes to their health so if your at your goal or underweight or feel that this might bring back old unhealthy habits then you should absolutely leave it alone but for people like me who need to build new healthy habits this is the kind of thing that can really help get us on track.

  26. Pernille says:

    Hi Cassey!
I have always loved your motivation, your videos, your recipies… etc.
But this is just confusing! My energy-level is like not existing. I want to get on track. I want to eat clean. And most of all I want to be fit and feel good about myself.
I wish I could follow your June-challenge. But I just can’t. If I loose weight I will be cosidered sick. And reading this makes me think that loosing weight is the only goal you have to aim after…

I hope you will make a motivating post for those of us who are NOT supposed to loose weight.. I could really use that… I feel off track, and I would like to get back on!
    Xx

    1. Pernille says:

Of course I wish all of you POPsters the best of luck on your journey!

  27. Sara says:

Ugh i’m so upset i can’t do this ;( I’d lose the 4 pounds and i’ll still do it on my own, in fact i WILL, but it would be so much more motivational if i could put money on it! But, I’m 14 and i doubt my mom would let me. she thinks i’m starving myself and that i’m obsessed with weight loss. thing is, she has great reason bc i had an eating disorder for a long time this year. i lost 10 pounds. since i wasn’t that committed to ana though, i didn’t tell my mom. i recovered on my own and i have a great relationship with food now, making sure i always eat enough, just not too much junk. but if i asked my mom she’d say it’s bad for me to lose 4 pounds. well, i guess i’ll just have to lose the 4 pounds without the money motivation.

    1. Chrissi says:

If you’ve been dealing with disordered eating as recently as that, your main focus should be on keeping yourself healthy. By all means, eat well and exercise, but something like this is definitely not a good idea for you just now. Just focus on being healthy. Plus, at 14 your body is still developing, which is why the age limit for things like this is 18.

  28. Michelle says:

Cassey this is awesome ! I’m in need for a challenge next month since my 20th birthday is on the 11th and I want to look n feel my best! Unfortunalty I’m going to get hip surgery right in the middle of June :/ I won’t be able to work out for months :/ sadness cuz I was seeing progress! :/ I was wondering if you could do a meals plan to help out with the work outs? I’ll do as much of the June calendar until my surgery n I don’t want to fall into bad habits again I would to keep my clean eating . Could you pls get a meal guide ! 😀

  29. megan says:

Well, looks like I’m excluded from this one. I’m 5 months pregnant, so I definitely can’t join in. 🙁

  30. shari says:

I’m thinking about taking on this challenge! I was wondering if there are any middle aged Popsters out there? My daughter has changed her body and habits all for good under Cassey’s guidance. I have tried the workouts but I modify a lot to protect my lower back. I would love to have an email buddy who is a peer to me. We could encourage and support one another’s efforts. I’m 49 years old.

  31. Miss C says:

I wish everyone a healthy body loving journey. Be committed to loving yourself with exercise, healthy food and a positive body image. I am new to this blog, and after reading a few of the post, I feel encouraged to be in a community of caring bloggers. For those who are feeling anxiety about this healthy challenge, take it one day at a time, love yourself along the way, have self-forgiveness and keep moving forward.

  32. Sheena Morton says:

Ive been following Blogilates for a long time and I Love it! Although I havent been able to keep up with the workout videos on the workout calenders because of the level of fitness. for this challenge, if you are a bit more of a beginner when it comes to working out, should I just tone down my level with the videos on each day of her calender? I guess I can do my own workouts…but I love that hers is structured, I just am not fit enough to fully put as much into it as she does

  33. Anna says:

I can see how people who are in recovery would be upset by this post, but it’s not a challenge for everyone out there to lose weight! I’m someone who NEEDS to lose FAT. I’m 5’7 and 174 lbs, definitely could lose about 7 pounds but I keep lacking motivation to EAT CLEAN! I think this challenge is the extra boost to stop eating crap and canceling out my awesome workouts every day. I’m extremely excited about this and confident that I will be able to do this challenge without doing anything unhealthy. If i were ten pounds lighter or in a healthy BMI range for myself I wouldn’t join the challenge, I would just continue to do the workouts on my own. There are a lot of loyal POPSTERS out there who need to lose weight and this is helpful. Thanks for them motivation, Cassey! I know this challenge is not meant to be a setback for any pretty ladies out there in recovery. Stay strong and remember you’re beautiful!

    1. Ellie says:

I do agree with you, it is a positive task, but I did read an alarming post earlier of a 14 year old who’s 5’5″ and goal is 100lbs- that’s a BMI of 16.5, that is quite worrying. So I think some younger girls don’t understand what happens to there body when they are underweight and what damage that could cause.
Maybe Cassey, you could do a post on the importance of being in a healthy range and explain the consequences if you put your body under too much strain?
      Lots of love xxxx

  34. Laura says:

    Hey Cassey! And hey popsters!
Can I also do the challenge if I’m just 14? (I’ll turn 15 in a month, just saying :D)
I’m a little bit afraid of getting my body through too tough struggles but I really would love to lose weight!
Also, if I could, another question: It’s my birthday on june 22 and I really cannot abstain from cake on my birthday. 😀 Would it be a problem to have one “YOLO – day”?

Great idea! I would really love to join your journey!

    1. Ellie says:

A Yolo is totes fine!!!!! I did it yesterday- just back on track today. Have a good birthday!!! Xxx

  35. meadhbh says:

love the idea cassey, id do it but i live in ireland:( x

    1. Rose says:

You still can! 😀 Just use paypal or credit card 🙂

      1. meadhbh says:

thanks so much, will do then:)

  36. Jessica says:

This entry disappoints and concerns me for a few reasons:

    1) Cassie, you don’t appear to need to lose any weight. You are strong and fit—an inspiration to many people. I’m concerned that you might have a distorted idea of your own body (or of what healthy is) if you’re making such a huge deal about losing weight. I’m also concerned about the message it sends to your fans, especially those who have or have had eating disorders. What will they think to see you, who is at a healthy weight, writing that you also need to lose weight? You are saying that your current, healthy, thin, strong body is not good enough for you. This is not really inspiring to people to feel good about themselves, because most of us probably aren’t as fit and strong as you, even those of us who are healthy and active and not trying to lose any weight.

    2) The fact that you ARE healthy and fit already and still concerned with weight loss undermines all your frequent assertion that it’s not about aesthetics. It certainly contradicts your post from the last few weeks about how the number of the scale does not matter. As a fitness professional, you certainly know that weight is no indicator of physical health or of physical strength. Why is it so vital for you to shed pounds if it’s not for some aesthetic reasons?

    3) This diet bet/challenge thing seems to be much more about short-term results rather than long-term transformations. For those who actually DO need to lose weight, diets and challenges are not the way to go. Permanent lifestyle changes are the key to really getting and staying healthy. Again, I believe you had a post yourself about this recently, which is why I was so confused by this newest post.

Please, everybody, be safe. Be healthy. Be strong. Don’t chase impossible beauty ideals. If you don’t need to lose weight, don’t participate in the challenge. Make a different goal for yourself that doesn’t involve scales or body fat.

    1. meadhbh says:

there is absolutly nothing unhealthy about having a goal involving health! the healthier you are the better! it would be completely diiferent if she was saying “lets loose weight… and eat nothing” but Cassey is not! x

    2. J says:

Thank you for this, Jessica. I completely agree.

    3. songs says:

Ummm, this is what she wrote right at the beginning of her blog post:
“It’s not about trying to “be skinny” – it’s about getting my fire revved up! About finding that passion to kill burpees like a madwoman! About being super dialed in. As a result, weight loss will come, but I won’t let vanity be my goal. It’s too shallow to push you through a tough day. You’ve got to find a deeper goal within.”
      Also:
“Also, for anyone doing this, I want you to remember that this isn’t for making $ or being dictated by the number on the scale. The scale is just simply a means of tracking progress. In fact, if we all had a body fat % machine at home, or someone to caliper us all, I’d much prefer that so we can track fat loss not just weight loss. But the truth is, we don’t all have an expensive tracker at home, so we will use a scale instead.”

As for #3, I feel that it’s a great way to keep up with a healthy lifestyle, because you literally can’t afford to be side-tracked. I think you form a habit by doing it continuously for at least three weeks. After this bet, people will be used to eating healthy and exercising regularly, it will become a long-term transformation.

Just because she’s already fit and healthy, doesn’t mean she shouldn’t push herself to become even fitter and healthier. That’s like saying you’ve reached your UGW and say: “Well I’ve done it! Now I can stop and order some greasy pizza.” One should never stop challenging oneself.

    4. Sonja says:

You don’t understand what Cassey is trying to do here.
She’s already stated that if you don’t need to loose weight , then don’t. This is just for those few people who need the extra boost. For myself im completely fine at 165cm and 50kg, i don’t need this challenge, but some people do ! if i was one of those people that Did need more motivation i would definitely do this challenge because the money would keep me going.

She’s already said the scales don’t matter. And anyone who’s actually into fitness will know that sometimes its better to determine how far you’ve come by how your clothing fits and by how you feel and look.

If Cassey feels as if she isn’t at her peek fitness level, then let her be. She’s not saying that she’s fat. It’s her personal matter and that’s for her to work on, not for you to discriminate !

    5. Julie says:

Jessica, I couldn’t agree more with you.
Casseys newest post shows that this is NOT about becoming HEALTHIER but about shedding the pounds she has gained since the competition/the move.
You don’t get healthier by getting skinnier undless you are really overweight! In fact, especially women whose body fat percentage drops under a certain percentage arge getting sick (aka not getting their period anymore, and no I’m not talking about super skinny girls but girls who are working out so much that their bodies can’t adjust to that anymore).
But Cassey is already healthy, eating only good things (and please don’t tell me “but look at the YOLO meal!”) and she looks absolutely beautiful now. I understand that her job and maybe her personal taste require a leaner body with more muscle tone and if she wants to lose these few pounds again, thats fine. But making a competition out of it and dragging people into it who don’t have the neccesary experience and knwoledge about exercising and nutrition is just irresponsible.
Cassey, did you see all the comments from teenagers who are perfectly fine but want to be a part of this so badly? What do you think their going to do? Refrain from it because they can’t officially join it on the Internet (ask yourself why they don’t allow 14 year old girls to bet money on their weiht loss!)? No, they’ll probably do it anyway, just without betting money and with a friend or in a private facebook group.
Cassey, I hope that you find the strength within yourself to go back to the truly inspiring message you want to send to your followers: be happy, strong and healthy and nourish your body in the right way. You are obviously influenced by negative comments about your weight and beauty ideals which is not surprising, I wouldn’t be able to ignore all the comments and pictures of other fitness instructors myself. BUT, when I discovered your videos two years ago, I was stunned by your strength and thought by myself: wow, she is really fit and on top of that, she is looking great and healthy. I think you had even a few more pounds back than than now but looked so beautiful. What lets you stand out is not your body but what you can do while smiling. That is what should inspire your followers and not your bikini competition body (which goes along with eating chicken breast and egg whites with some vegetables only as you pointed out).

      1. Olive says:

I agree with you Julie and Jessica. This weight loss challenge isn’t good for popsters, and it isn’t good for Cassey. She seems to have some body image issues, which is incredibly sad, because she looks great where she’s at today. I can only imagine what kind of message this sends to girls out there who are no where near as fit and healthy as Cassey, “if she isn’t happy with her current body and wants to loose 4% of her body weight, what the heck does that say about my body?”
I hope Cassey reconsiders this challenge. It is really labeled a “weight loss challenge”, and that in no way is a measure of how much healthier or more fit one can get over a few weeks. A better challenge might be how many push-ups can I do after 5 weeks, how many sit-ups? What about improving a mile time, or comparing your performance on a series of blogilates videos after a month?

This challenge is not apart of a healthy lifestyle, it will encourage girls to take unhealthy steps to achieve an idealized body. And, when they fall short of that, they will be in an even worse place than where they began. If you are striving for perfection, for some perfect number or a perfect plate of abs, you will be disappointed. You will always want to be just a little bit skinner, a little bit leaner. Cassey showed this after her competition, she mentioned several things about her body that she felt insecure about, when she looked like an absolute bombshell!!

I agree that Cassey looked much better, much healthier about 2 years ago before she become tangled in this bikini contest business. She was much more confident and sincere. I hope that she finds a way to channel that again. And, I don’t think bikini contests or weight loss challenges will do her, or anyone, any good in attaining a healthy body image.

  37. Cathy says:

Oh dear, is there any way you can rework the goals of this challenge to be based on body fat % instead? I was 5′ 4″ and 98lbs when I started running and following pop pilates, because I didn’t like my belly pudge. I tracked everything I ate and was on a 1500 calorie diet. I was so confused when I just kept gaining weight. After 2 months of training, I had gained 6lbs! I understand that weight is the easiest metric to use to determine if you’re losing fat, but please be aware that there are many people who gain weight when they work out, even if they’re dieting. If you don’t have a lot of muscle mass to start with, then losing 1-2lbs a week while building muscle is extremely difficult, even when you cut back on the calories, especially for people on the low end of the BMI. Not everyone has access to body fat measurements, but perhaps that would be a more robust way of tracking their body’s changes. I am very concerned about people who do not NEED to lose weight who will do this because they WANT to lose weight. I hope this won’t cause them to lose confidence in their body and eating habits because even though they’re following the plan, but they just keep gaining weight!

    1. Katrina says:

This is a really good point! I am also small, and even if I work out hard, I will ‘gain’ weight – muscle- because I just don’t have much fat to loose.
This is a fun idea if you want to rev up your workout style, but do be aware that Cassey still wants people to be HEALTHY and fit, not frustrated because of a few pounds telling them whether they get 25$ back or not.
      Stay healthy , girlies!

      1. Becky says:

This challenge isn’t meant for people who are already at a healthy weight. This challenge is meant for people who need to lose weight. Cassey addresses every body type and health goal in turn, right now it’s their turn. I’m sure she’ll have a ‘I want to tone up’ or ‘I need to gain weight in a healthy way’ post down the line.

  38. Danielle A. says:

I won’t be doing the bet as I don’t have the money to bet, and still trying to manage my PCOS. However, I am going to for the first time follow the June calendar! I have a 14 month old, so we’ll see how much I can get done in a day, but even half will be such an improvement. 🙂

  39. Melanie says:

To all of you upset about this post, she says that it is only for people who are looking to lose weight and that those who are not can just continue to do her workouts. I also had an eating disorder in the past and this idea of hers is not offensive at all, she is trying to help people who need to lose weight for health reasons but can’t commit.

  40. Hannah says:

I really want to do this but I am worried that I won’t be able to make my goal. I have gained about 30 pounds in the last eight months due to my anxiety/depression medication and it has been extremely hard for me to loose any weight. (My average weight was 110 pounds and I have been stuck at 138 pounds for months) Has anyone else had to deal with weight gain due to a medication and if so, how did you loose it?
    Thanks!
    ~Hannah

    1. Amy says:

Yes. I have had the same experience as you more than once. When I was 15, I started taking a medication that made me gain 25 lbs, but I ended up losing most of the weight over the next summer after I stopped being on it.

Then, last year I got on another medication that made me gain over 20 pounds. I have had a hard time losing weight because I lost some weight this fall but gained more back during the winter.

I ended up decreasing my dose of that medication and doing Pop Pilates, but losing weight has been kind of hard for me. I hope everything works out for you. I just wanted to share my experience so you wouldn’t feel alone though. 🙂

  41. Evelia says:

I am definitely eager to join! This post got me all excited!

  42. corrie881 says:

    Hi Cassey:
I am trying to bring my weight to 3 years ago. Ive been working out and trying to eat clean. However, my weight has not gone down but my clothes are all loose right now. So I guess, this challenge would not apply to people like me who has “more mass” (I dont really know how to describe this situation). I am 103 pounds and it seems quite hard for me to bring it down, without drastically cutting my calories. The lower the weight, the harder it is to lose weight, that’s my observation. I hope you can enlighten us on this concern. Your workouts rock!

    1. Dena says:

Well, since you’re already at a fairly low weight, you might not need to lose more weight. Unless you’re really short, I can’t imagine being under 100 lbs would be necessary. Instead, you should probably do what you’ve been doing. Since your clothes are looser, but you haven’t lost weight, that means you are losing body fat and replacing it with muscle, which is great!

  43. Really a cool post! I understand that it is one of the best free resources available! Well done! Keep on this quality!

  44. Lara K says:

    Hey Cassey,
I was diagnosed with anorexia 2 years ago, the road to to recovery is really hard. I am tryin to recover but it gets really hard. It’s for this reason that I don’t read magazines because of all the models and weight advice. I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but it’s posts like this that kinda send me back into the anorexic mindset. Having said that though I want you to know that I support your des idiom and I absolutely love your videos. Your positive attitude makes me so happy! I agree with all you say about eating clean, just sometimes not as much about losing weight. Sorry! xxxx
    From Lara x 🙂

  45. Rachel says:

I’m slightly disappointed by this. As someone who suffered from an eating disorder for years, part of what drove my problem was this idea that everyone needed to lose weight. All women’s magazines talk about dieting and losing weight. What about people who don’t need to lose weight? It really affected my outlook because I felt like dieting was normal and therefore I needed to diet even when I was drastically underweight. You’ve been having all these great posts about being happy with your weight, your body, etc., but then this weight loss challenge seems to go against it. I wish you had framed the challenge more as “Let’s get healthy!” rather than “let’s lose weight!” I can guarantee that someone who reads your blog has an eating disorder and the fact that your challenge didn’t mention anything about people who may not be able (or shouldn’t) participate in the challenge disappointed me. I still LOVE you and blogilates, but health is more important than weight, and I hope your readers get that. Hopefully your challenge will talk a lot about healthy decisions rather than weight loss.

    1. Jessica says:

I completely agree with you! I used to have a eating disorder many years ago but even if I didn’t this would still offend me because it focuses only on losing weight and she always says not to worry or obsess at what’s on the scale but with a challenge like this how are you not supposed to obsess over your weight/thescale vs health in general which is what should be focused on. I still love her blog and videos because she has made a huge difference in my life and I am so thankful for that. I just thought this post was very contradictory and sad for people who really shouldn’t be losing weight.

    2. Abbie says:

But that’s the point as she said this is for people who want to loose weight. There are people who shouldn’t do this challenge but then there are people like me who truly do need to loose weight who need it to be focused on both loosing weight and being healthy because the two go hand in hand. It’s not that she wants people to stress themselves out over it bu if you don’t pay attention to you weight to wont loose any and I know that from experience.

Thank you so much for this post Casey an for doing this challenge next month it is really goon to shell me get motivated and to get healthy!! 🙂

      1. Lisa says:

I’m with you Abbie – alot of us do need to lose weight in a healthy way, and we need the motivation to get there. Cassey – this is a great idea, thank you!!

        1. Fallon says:

I am sorry that some of you have struggled with eating disorders in the past but some of us like me need to lose some weight. This challenge isn’t for everyone so we can’t blame Cassey for posting this challenge. If you have an eating disorder then don’t participate. Take responsibility for your own healthy and the ability to stay healthy. It is a great way to motivate people and help them live a healthy clean life style.

Cassey please don’t get down or beat yourself up over some of the previous post. Not everyone is going to agree with your blogs, workouts, challenges, etc. You are trying to help people and you are.
Thanks for what you are doing
          Fallon

          1. Jamie says:

There is a fine line between “fitspo” and “thinspo”and I think that this challenge crossed that line… I just hope that Cassey is reading (and listening) to these comments and understands that they are meant to be constructive and not critical! I know it’s a touchy subject, but I think that this conversation that needs to happen. Oddly, I have struggled both with an eating disorder AND being overweight, and I (I know overweight people might disagree with me here) the eating disorder was far more difficult to deal with. I’m not saying that being overweight and trying to lose weight is easy, but it’s a different challenge. Anyway, I’m sure this is all coming across as rambling but again, I think it’s good that we are all expressing our views on this difficult subject!

    3. Sandy says:

Aaaah, I’m torn between the two points of view…I am not overweight but I want to lose a few pounds which stick to me as most girls have….So at first reading her post with her usual bubbly tone, I was excited but then I don’t know I thought of her older posts as well, I mean your older posts Cassey, and I decided I won’t do it. I never liked bets anyway! I will lose what I want to lose following the calendar, eating clean and enjoying a few yolo meals here and there because it works for me this way! It might be slower but I don’t want to go back to dieting ever again! Also another factor is that starting something like this is easier if you live alone T.T. Basically to do this, I would have to force my boyfriend to do it as well =P
And last but not least, for someone like me having sometimes low self esteem regarding my body, as most women do (thank you Photoshop and mags and media), well this kind of challenge might make me feel very bad IF I didn’t make it. It’s not to sound pessimistic or anything but that might turn into a sort of competition (at least for me) when I’m just learning to love myself and stop comparing myself to other bodies. This is my opinion.
On the other hand, I know that Cassey’s intentions are genuine and driven by kindness and a true desire to motivate people, so I understand why she wants to organize such a challenge! I guess it’s not for everyone, that is all. We gotta know what’s good for us =)
I wish luck to all the girls who are in!

  46. Shani Berrios says:

This sounds like a really awesome plan! And okay I’ve already commented on a YouTube video and tweeted about this but!! I really think you should make a video challenge to the song treasure by Bruno mars! It’s a really fun and energetic song and I bet it would be loads of fun to work out to!:D

  47. Nutritionist says:

Hey, I’m a new blogger and I really like this blog! It’s put together very well and has some very good information.
    Great Blog!

  48. Anna says:

Darn I’m not 18 yet so I can’t join in the bet 🙁 I’ll still try for the same thing on my own though! 😀

    1. Abbie says:

I know me either 🙁 it’ll still be nice to have all the challenge though…… I’m putting a reward for my self at the end of it if I am able to reach the goal 🙂 something like new clothes………

      1. Anna says:

XD I was thinking the same thing!

  49. Kerry says:

How is this cheat proof? Cant people lie about their weights before and after? I will take part but not bothered about worrying about the bet xxxxx great tho to make you accountable even more

  50. Rose says:

I’m really scared that I won’t be able to do this and I can’t afford to lose that much money at the moment. I have about 25 pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight so I really should get going. So yes, I will join. If that’s not going to motivate me nothing will. I’m super nervous about it though… I need to win my money back! Good luck everyone!

  51. Ally says:

    Hi Cassey!

I just wanted to factor in that I did a dietbet a while ago. It was with no money! You can create one without actually betting any money.

I also didn’t lose 4% of my weight. I just wanted to say because I was eating super clean and working to your videos and running. I was super sad but I had taken my body fat percentage at the gym and it turned out I had lost 5kilos (10lbs) of pure fat but gained 2 kilos (4lbs) of muscle. It seemed like I hadn’t lost much according to the scale, but that wasn’t the actual picture. If anyone is doing what it takes, but not seeing results, please don’t give up 🙂 Do the diet bet but only if you have the money and don’t push yourself too hard because I know that when I wasn’t getting the results I thought about fasting so I could reach my goal and that isn’t healthy. But I think with your specific workouts it won’t be a problem to reach our targets! I’ll definitely look into it! Good luck to whoever is participating! And remember to keep things in perspective! x

  52. This is great! It sounds fun and challenging. I will invite my sister to join too. 😀

  53. Neha says:

    Hey cassey !!!!!!
    What about the diet????????????

  54. Alicja Maria says:

Umm, I wanna lose weight but I cant really make a bet on this site.. Do I have to make a bet to join
this? :c I reaaally wanna join you Cassie!

    1. Abbie says:

No you don’t have to make a bet you can just do the challenge and everything without betting 🙂 that’s what I’m doing

  55. Chaya says:

I am so in!! I think this is a great idea, and we can do this!!

    Xoxo
    Chaya

  56. Brianna says:

I’m 16, 5’2, and 160 pounds. I can’t place a bet, because my parents don’t want to spend the money lol, but I’ll definitely be following along 🙂

  57. ShoshanahM says:

This is great for healthy adult women who actually have 4% of body weight to spare. I see many 100 lb or so teenagers posting here, and many people who joined the contest who look extremely thin already. Teens: you are still growing; ask your doctor if your BMI is healthy and what you can do to feel your best. (You are probably much skinnier than you think you are.) If you are recovering from anorexia, maybe for this month, you can challenge yourself to try a different food every day and reward yourself at the end of the month with a new dress, scarf, or whatever motivates you personally.

I’m excited about this DietBet because I have a BMI on the line between healthy and overweight. I’m getting back in shape and need extra motivation for the first month or so. I mostly like the way I look, but want to be more toned and fit enough to go running on a regular basis.

    1. Anja says:

      I agree!!!

  58. Haley says:

So I really want to do this but I’m 108 pounds right now & I’m afraid I’ll lose more weight and end up looking and feeling really unhealthy. I have a goal, though, of getting to 20% body fat, which is the category that athletic/fitness people fall under. I am at 24% right now and that is the category of ‘acceptable.’ And I’m like hell no I’ve worked way to hard to be just ‘acceptable’, I’m way better than just ‘acceptable’. So I want to challenge myself and gain more muscle without looking like those crazy gross looking body builders with veins popping out of every visible muscle. So is there anyway I can do this without losing weight, just losing body fat % and gaining more muscle and toning my abs more? Also, I used to have some little beginning warnings of an eating disorder because I would so closely monitor what I’m eating, every single calorie and how much I weigh and all my measurements and I’m afraid of falling back into that again and not being able to get out this time. I don’t want it to escalate to full on eating disorder, so I need to be able to do this without losing more weight and without developing an unhealthy frame of mind. Any tips? Thanks(: Love ya Cassey, you helped me lose 28 pounds<3

    1. Becky says:

Is there a specific reason you need to get to 20%? How does your body feel? Good energy? Sleeping well? You’re obviously eating well and working out. I would say not to focus on the numbers. Everyone’s body is different, works different, has a different “normal”. Picking a number for a goal is not the right answer for everyone. Why not use “I want my body to be at it’s healthiest”. Your body will tell you where that is. Find a balance, stop looking at the numbers. Dropping your BMI could mess with your metabolism and menstrual cycles. If your body is happy, be happy 🙂

    2. Viv says:

If I were you I would not worry about changing your body fat percentage just so you can say “I’m a clinical athlete”. Some people just aren’t prone to muscle gain. I’m not saying dont try but if you’re living a healthy lifestyle and it doesn’t happen it’s alright.
Also, if you want to keep yourself in a psychologically stable state of mind, tell yourself everyday that your weight / size does not determine your self worth. Your family won’t love you for being skinny, if you have kids they won’t love you for being skinny, and being a size 0 won’t make people think highly of you. To put things in perspective, if you really think about it, being skinny is probably the least important thing that any given person spends their time worrying about. Focus on being healthy, doing things that’ll prevent Alzheimer’s and heart disease and cancer and whatnot. Also if you’re religious, google “Weightloss Scripture day 1” and it’ll take you to a blog called “Take back your temple” which I think is a great little bit a spiritual inspiration if you’re into that
Otherwise take time to meditate, drink a smoothie, do some yoga, listen to audio meditations and bob marley and just make sure you chill out and mellow yourself
ok this message was freakin long my bad good luck though, everything’s gonna be fine 🙂

  59. Sam Micatrotto says:

There is also a DietBet app that we can download to track our progress easier when we don’t have access to a computer. Just thought I would share 🙂

  60. Nikki says:

I will join, too :). Using this motivation to lose the last few pounds before my wedding in July. I’m really excited, because I’ve been slacking off lately and I think this might be my chance to get back on track!

  61. Emma says:

I’d love to do this, since I’ve been losing weight since February but or some reason my losses are very slow, and I’ve yet to find out why.
    Interesting idea though 🙂

  62. Ilse says:

Thank you for coming up with this idea 🙂 I currently don’t have much money, but I really need this goal. Due to stress and exams I’ve been slacking (BIG TIME) off. Also, I got my mom to join, so I have some kind of ‘healthy eating’ buddy for the first time ever, haha!

  63. Medallion says:

I’m a bit underweight but I have a large body fat percentage…so should I be trying to lose weight?

    1. Cady says:

No, this challenge probably isn’t for you. But, I would definitely eat clean and workout (including weight lifting) to reduce your body fat percentage 🙂

  64. Jeanine says:

This looks great! But it concerns me a little bit, for myself personally. I’m 5’6″ and 119 lbs right now. I’ve slacked off a little with my exercise since graduating college and starting a new job and routine, but no matter how hard I work, I think the only way I could get down to 114 lbs is if I spend the month of June starving myself, rather than working out. It’s just not healthy for my body type. :[ I still plan to participate in the challenge on my own though!

  65. Allie says:

I just joined and got my husband to join too! Now we are feeling the pressure! I wonder if I can get him to do my pop pilates dvd with me too…

  66. Laura says:

    Hey Cassie,
I really want to join, but can you please give more information?
    Thank you!

  67. Jay says:

    Dear Cassey

I would really love to join. But the thing is (as stupid as it sounds): I’m not very overweight, I just weigh about 4kg too much for being REALLY skinny. And 4% would be 2kg and I don’t think I can lose it in such a short amount of time. And it’s not just a tiny little bit of money :S

  68. Melody says:

Hey Cassie:) So i can;t join this challenge because i am too young :/ (14) And my parents wont let me send money or post the pictures. But i will be with you all the way 🙂 I have lost 15 pounds this month just from your program 🙂 My goal is 5’5 and 100 lbs 🙂 So excited! Luv ya!

    1. vidia says:

i’m 17 and my mom still doesn’t let me do any of this 🙁

    2. Ellie says:

Be careful ,that’s not a healthily BMI goal to have and your body is still growing, make sure you’re getting enough calcium so you don’t ruin your bones and get osteoporosis. Stay healthy 🙂

    3. Abbie says:

Right now I’m 5’3 16 yrs old and 180 but I don’t have a weight goal I want to get to a point where u feel healthy and I’m happy with the way my body looks…… I’ve know too many people who put a number on it and en up with an eating disorder because of it because they have to reach that number. Please don’t let yourself get obsessed with 100 lbs

  69. Ida says:

This sound like so much fun!!! Just what I needed to get some motivation :))
    I’ve signed up and I can’t wait for June the 3rd !!!

  70. Sasha says:

If any of you want some extra support for your challenge this month I am an Advocare distributor and would love to help you get your $25 back! We have the best nutritional products on the market. Our site is http://www.advocarexplode.com and you can email me at info@advocarexplode.com best of luck ladies!

  71. Kaitlyn says:

Now I just wish I could see the June calendar so I’ll know what I’m up against! Haha

  72. Danae says:

Aww! I so want to be part of the bet, because it would make it more like a serious challenge than just something I did with not much aim.. Unfortunately I don’t have 25 dollars.. 🙁 Is it possible for me to still follow you and share my results as the june calendar progresses? That would definitely make me more serious.

  73. Janita says:

It sucks being 17… But i’ll join in the spirit and hopefully lose weight! 🙂 i think i’ll put $25 somewhere so that i cant use it and if i lose weight, i can use it and if i dont, i’ll give the money to a friend or something! (:

    1. nina says:

this is actually a really good idea.
i’m also 17 and i can’t bet, so the idea of saving $25 until we reach or goal is great.
so when we lose weight we spend it on ourselves and when don’t we need to give em to anyone, or donate em.
but i think if we could share this journey together on a hashtag on twitter so we can motivate each other would be so great.

      1. Sabrina says:

Yeah, that’s a fabulous idea. I think we could use the June calendar’ s hash tag for that?!

  74. Kristina says:

Awesome idea! 🙂 Too bad I don’t have a scale, since we need that for the picture documentation. I don’t want to weigh myself, I only use my measures to keep track. Anyway, good luck to you all! Kick ass! 🙂

  75. Elìn says:

oh, I’d like so much to join but I have no money atm! Casseeeey… please make a free weight loss challenge too! I’m sick of this extra fat on my thighs!

  76. Taylor says:

Casey I hope you aren’t trying to be bikini contest skinny again. That wasn’t cute it was drastic. I think you are insecure and its so sad to to see a woman so beautiful. Wish you saw what we all see. You aren’t fat and I really don’t think you need to loose weight. I feel like you go off the deep end sometimes. I love your videos they keep me toned and keep me slim.

  77. Camilla says:

Meow, what if you can’t put a bet because of not being able to control your own money at the moment? :S Can you still take a part in the weight loss thingy? :333

  78. Sierra says:

This made my eyes get watery. I have never had anyone talk so positive to me about weight loss but with you I feel like I can do it and I’ve never felt that way before. Thank you Cassey. I’m in. All or nothing.

  79. Julie says:

Seriously guys, am I the only one who thinks that this is a bad idea? Doing this challenge with already grown-up women who have already found a happy place with their body and enough self esteem to treat their bodies well would be kind of odd, but doing this with mostly teenage girls? That’s just insane.
Cassey, I can understand that you might thinking that this is a totally safe way to lose weight all together because you are a fitness expert who knows exactly what your body needs to fuction well and you would never starve yourself. But, as you mentioned in your ‘ashamed of gaining weight’ post, even you had disordered thoughts about eating when you were training for your competition. What do you think will happen to girls who are only 14 or 15 years old (and most of your fans are verey young) entering this challenge with the idea of ‘I absolutely have to lose weight, I have to earn my money back’? I can see the risk that a fun challenge turns into thoughts like ‘maybe I can lose even more, look how nice I already look, maybe I can become even thinner and better than all the other girls’ and therefore in a raging eating disorder that won’t stop in July…And before people are attacking me for critizising Cassey, let me just tell you that I know what it’s like to be 14 years old, insecure, unhappy with the own body and looking desperately to find something that would fix it. When I was that young, Internet wasn’t as cheap as today, so my eating disorder was rather fueled by ‘lose 10 pounds in 14 days’ articels in magazines. But if I had seen this post back then, you bet I would have been in that challenge thinking that ‘oh well, eating clean may be fine the first half of the day, but not eating at all after 4.pm will be more efficient’.
Cassey, please don’t get me wrong, I really like your videos and your overall positive personality. I just wished you would have continued to send out the positive message to young girls that it is important to become stronger, to move your body in order to feel good and happy and to have personal fitness goals in order to experience the feeling of accomplishment. If an overweight girl starts to eat healthy, does your videos and has fun playing tennis, football or whatever with their friends instead of watching TV, she will lose the weight anyway but in a slow and safe way. In my opinion, the fixation on the scale and making weight loss a challenge can lead to a challenge AGAINST yourself.

    1. L says:

Thank goodness, you were able to articulate these thoughts. I too, have similar feelings of reservation over this contest. Even looking in the comments you have girls who are 5’6″ and 120 or so being encouraged to lose weight. Speaking also as someone who’s battled anorexia as a teenager, the competitive aspect of this would have driven me further towards an already unhealthy lifestyle. Perhaps shifting the challenge to something that isn’t based on a number on the scale would be better? Like being able to add reps to your pull-ups or shave off minutes to your mile.
      Just a thought.
Plus this seems so contradictory compared to your previous posts about the scale not being an indicator of self-worth. Sure, you mentioned that in here briefly, but it feels off. People like this: http://gokaleo.com/2013/05/20/i-am-overweight/
and this mindset is what I find more healthy and encouraging.

      1. Ellie says:

I agree too, it should be about strength, being fit and being healthy. I too have struggled with anorexia and do NOT want to fall back into it. I’m scared for other girls, boys, whoever, because its a trap that entices you in and looks so appealing and yet is so destructive! Young minds are so vulnerable and can be influenced so easily. Since I had anorexia (over 3 1/2 years ago) I haven’t had a period, my bones and joints are weak and I often feel pain. I may not be able to have children and I lost all of my friends in the process. I am 19 years old- I ruined my body, please be very careful about doing this and really think hard about whether you will be able to keep it above the dangerous line that is so easily crossed.
        Be strong!!! Xxx
P.s. I agree, Cassey, you are beautiful and you make me smile, but you know what you’re doing, a lot of teenagers don’t, to all those girls – go for fitness and health, not weightloss!

    2. Abbie says:

Ok may I please add that your forgetting the part of her following that NEEDS to loose weight and whose BMI measures around overweight and obese. I am 16 but I have never wante to be a certain weight I want to be healthy and a weight where I can loo at myself and be happy and not see my ribs sticking out. Every where nowadays someone is taking about being happy with your body weight so that teenagers won’t become anorexic or too eat healthy so teenagers aren’t overweight and obese. Honestly does any body else get that? People are coming at you from both ways. I found Cassey a while ago and I love her videos because they aren’t extreme but they are challenging. Teenagers get a bad rap for not being able to make good decisions but there are done of us who can! We know that are bodies aren’t healthy. There needs to be balance between font be skinny and don’t be fat and for me at least I have found that here with Cassey! Thank you so much Cassey!

    3. Jess says:

You have to be 18 to participate and have a BMI over a certain amount so I’m not really sure what the problem is!

  80. Bridget says:

I signed up! Cassie, I’d like to make a request! I have a long-term injury on my foot which makes any exercise done with too much pressure on one foot off-limits. Since you’re preaching to an active population who probably gets injured every now and then, could you write a post about staying motivated even when you get an injury that makes you think you’re out of the game? I’ve learned a lot about myself since this injury. I used to be a runner and thought that was part of my identity. But since then I’ve been forced to turn to alternatives like swimming — and I realized I love that, too I’ve also had to pick and choose which PopPilates videos I can do based on the foot limitation, but even then, Pilates is such a great way to keep active despite physical limitations. Keep it up and I hope to see a reply!

  81. hayley says:

You don’t look as if you have gained weight at all! you look fantastic! i can’t wait for the june calendar. i’m broke so can’t afford the $25 even though it’s not that much in £ lol i’ve lost 2lbs in 2 weeks since starting the may calendar on the 6th 🙂

  82. Jaime jones says:

    Hey Cassey!
First of all….wow! How could you possibly think you have gained weight? Lol
You are so fit!!!! You just made a video and I was thinking how wonderful you look!
Anyway, I started your fitness routine this month (I’m a newbie) my goal is to get toned. 4 months ago I decided that I wanted to loose weight. So, I busted my but with cardio, cardio and more cardio! I did loose 35 pounds! Yay! But I didn’t give my muscles a lot of thought (because at the time, that wasn’t my goal) anyway, the reason I am writing this is because I’m not sure if I should loose anymore, I’m 5’10 and now weigh 140! There are still parts of my body I’m not happy with but I’m hoping if I firm it up, I will fix that! So I guess my question is…..how do you know if you need to loose more body fat? Just want to check before I start a weight loss challenge 😉

  83. Marina says:

I’m loving this!! I have to say I started WeightWatchers almost 2 months ago now and already lost a good 7 kilo (about 15 lb). I’m not a fan of diets that’s why I love WW. I just eat healthier but know how to control my portions 🙂 I think I’m gonna join u though!! I can combine the two and I still wanna lose about 5 kilo (about 11lb) So fun I’m excited!!! :-DD

  84. Billie Jean says:

    Hey Cassey or anyone there,

I wanna join, but scared that I stay the course.. :$
But I live in Germany, so is it international?
Cuz we don’t have lbs, we have kg.
    So is that acceptable too?

    PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER!! :))

    1. Izzy says:

I live in Germany as well.

As far as I know challenges like that accept credit cards (VISA, Master, etc) so you can join in if you really want to, I suppose.

As far as the weight loss, you simply have to convert to the metric system and the percentage stays the same. You probably just have to state that in the beginning of the challenge…since it is a community, I am pretty sure it would work out. Hope this helped some. 🙂

  85. Alex says:

I want to do this but I’m not allowed to give money!!! Grr 🙁

  86. Andreea says:

I admire you so much, Cassey ! Although I don’t want to lose weight (I recovered from anorexia and even now I’m slim), I want to tone up my body and even gain some muscle. But I know that many struggle with excess weight so your initiative is going to help them enormously.
Also, you say you’ve gained weight, but all I see is an incurable optimistic and successful woman ! Stay healthy and have fun with this challenge !

Hugs and kisses from a dedicated POPster !!!

  87. Deanna says:

I’m just wondering- what if you gain muscle mass? I’m one of those people whose bodies build muscle like crazy- it sucks being bulky 🙁
So, do you not get your money back if you gain weight? (But do the exercise and eat clean, of course!)

    1. Billie Jean says:

      Thought about that too!
Cut i’m afraid too of gaining weight :S

  88. Alyssa Thompson says:

Isn’t it sad that we live in a world where there are malnourished people, yet we have to exercise to keep ourselves thin because our society and daily lives are over saturated with food? Not that I am getting down the cause you picked, only that it is ironic.

    1. Izzy says:

So true!! Have to agree with you on that one!

  89. Dolly says:

Awesome post! This is exactly what I need to lose the last few pounds to get my bikini bod I have been dreaming of:) it also gives me motivation to become stronger for my first marathon, look my best in time for my bday(23!), ride my bike to work, and play in the sun:) BEASTMODE!!!<3

  90. Jenna F says:

Thanks Cassey, this is JUST what I need at the moment!!

I’m normally very healthy and active but lately I’ve mentally checked out. I keep things that I know I shouldn’t because “I’ll start eating healthy tomorrow” but tomorrow never comes.

I just signed up then and can’t wait!

  91. Mila says:

Aaarrgh! I don’t have $25! 🙁 I wanted to play… anyways, I’ll follow you guys all month, as if I was in the bet game 🙂 hope we all succeed!

  92. Katelin says:

I don’t know if my brain completely skipped or what, but will they’re be a meal plan that goes along with this

  93. Shela says:

I would love to join the contest! A few questions though.
    1. Do you make profit for being a winner?
    2. How does the money get to us? Is it like PayPal or something?
    I also have a suggestion 🙂
You could do another contest like this and the winner could get a code for a free
shirt in your store or something! 😀 Just a suggestion 😛
    Someone please reply ♥

    1. Jenna F says:

      From my interpretation… http://support.dietbet.com/

      1. Whoever reaches their winning target gets at least their $25 bet back. The money from everyone that doesn’t reach the target goes into a pool and is evenly distributed among the winners. So yes you should make a profit if you successfully reach your goal, as long as some other people don’t.
      2. “Winnings are deposited into your Account Credits after a game ends. You may request a payout of all unused game winnings via PayPal at any time. Payouts will be available within 48 hours of being requested. In certain cases, we will also mail out paper checks.”

    2. Elizabeth says:

      1. If you don’t achieve your weightloss goal, you lose your $25 and it is distributed to others who did achieve their goal. If you do achieve your goal, you get your money back plus a portion of the “losers” money. So in other words, you make profit if you win and someone else doesn’t.
      2. You get the money through Paypal or you can keep it on Dietbet and use it to play in another bet on the website.

      hope that helps 🙂

  94. Kelly says:

I’m recovering from anorexia… still underweight… literally when I even lose one pound my body goes into crazy mode. I’m barely BARELY at an okay weight for my body. I really want to take part in this though… I have been folloiwng your calendar since january successfully… I love being a part of the blogilates community I just can’t afford to take part in this.

    I’ll join in spirit 🙂

    1. Becky says:

Good for you! Striving for health is a fantastic goal 🙂 I know the road back can be bumpy, I’ve struggled, too. All the crap that goes along with being underweight is not worth it. Healthy and confident is beautiful. I wish you all the best!

  95. cynthia says:

This picker upper is just what I need. I just returned home from college, having grown accustomed to a clean diet, but my family is concerned and told me they are “disgusted” with the way I eat now, so I’ve been feeling a little depressed. Thanks Cassie for the motivation!

    1. Kaitlyn says:

I feel your pain! My family and others in the town I returned to for the summer just can’t grasp my clean eating and are quite judgemental about it! :/ but we’re doing this because it’s great for us so keep your head up!

      1. Sarah Potgieter says:

I think people just feel bad that they don’t have the discipline to eat cleanly so they criticise those who do because they are making them look bad 😛

  96. Abbie says:

Just signed up going to start tomorrow but ive gotta wait til next week to pay =)

  97. Carolina says:

I’m excited, have to put some cash in my bank account but i will definitely be joining. This is just the thing i need some competition and support type of system btw I’ve been loving doing the may calendar its been a little hard (first time doing it) but still already i feel stronger!! can’t wait 🙂

  98. Kelly says:

    Hi Cassey!

This sounds like a lot of fun!!!!!! Quick question for ya though ~ is this simple enough for me to do with two young kids at home? haha … It’s not always easy, but I can definitely figure it out! I’ve got some pounds to lose!!!! 10 pounds lost would rock!

  99. Stephanie says:

    Hey Cassey !!

The past few weeks, I’ve been lazy.. (I admit it!)… But it has been so stressful lately, I gained more weight than I ever did in the past 3 years !… I was so lean, healthy and proud of my body; now I feel all the opposite. Last week I was crying in my shower, looking down, and all i could see was the fat on my thighs, hips and belly.. I can barely see my feet ! :'( … my clothes don’t fit me as they should anymore… hard hard hard.. i decided to stop crying and start good habits again and workout!! Today, I trained for 2 hours. Things i used to do easily are today a little harder, but i keep on working hard to get back my bikini body!

Thank you Cassey to be so positive, funny, girly and a huge source of motivation ! You make workout looking something more than on TV or DVDs… it’s more human and.. real !.. I live on West Coast of Canada and here, lost in a small town in the Rockies, there not many girls, and not many girly girls…(they all mountain bike or rock/ice-climb, motocross, wtv else..) I love doing that too, but when I need that girly moment, I start working out and listen to you talking about your nails & your hair and it makes me smile 🙂

Please post a bunch of healthy recepies soon soon soon because I am running out of ideas to eat healthy… chicken breast, lean turkey, white fish and tuna are very boring to me.. i rather eat just my veggies !! Count on me to follow you in june for that weight loss challenge !! Aw YEAH !

  100. Sabrina says:

I can’t wait for the June calendar! I do the May calendar, too. But with all my new beautiful popping muscles the number on the scale went up not down. Has anybody experienced this, too? I do the cardio training Cassey recommends and still… I feel stronger but not leaner.

    1. Olive says:

It’s all about diet. You might be eating more to compensate for the tough workouts. They do make you workup an appetite, so you’ve got to find a balance between working out super hard your diet.

  101. Alexandra Y says:

YES!! This sounds awesome, I’m so excited. Just signed up!!

  102. Jayne says:

    THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  103. Aura says:

I don’t have money (25$ it’s too much in my country-.-) but I will do your June calendar^^♥

  104. Sue says:

im already underweight…i guess ill still do the workouts and just eat more

  105. Sofja says:

Really good idea. I’m in now!

  106. Nina says:

Hey Cassey, are we still able to join the challenge, if we don’t bet the $25 ? I’m still a young teen, and can’t bet the money, but I would love to join you guys.. Anyone have the answer to my question? Thanks. (:

    1. Helena says:

I know what you mean, I’m a young teen too -_- But I’m sure we can still do it, right Cassey? 🙂

    2. nina says:

yeah i was gonna ask the same question.
we’re young & our parents won’t let us bet on this.
but we really wanna do the June challenges and loos weight with you. so can we join you without the bet thingy ?

  107. Oshin says:

    hey cassey,

can i still do the june weight loss workouts even if i am not really wanting to lose weight ? or do i still have to go for the bet ?

btw I LOVE you enthusiasm and energy and undying interest in your blogilates community !

    1. Becky says:

You will still have access to the June calendar if you don’t bet.

  108. Chrissy says:

I’m sad there’s no option for people trying to gain weight. There should be something for losing fat and gaining muscle mass and ended up with a higher or same weight but a more toned body because if some people lost 4%(like me) it just wouldn’t be that healthy. I’m naturally skinny and pretty tone but I would like to gain more muscle. I don’t think the website or this challenge caters to that. I love you soooooooooo much Cassey but please understand that losing weight isn’t always “good” or “successful” in some peoples minds, I know you completely understand that though I just want to support everyone out there who can’t lose weight because it’s no healthy for them and therefore can not partake in this.

    1. s6milerun says:

      Hi Chrissy,
You sound sad, but cheer up! If you stick with Blogilates long enough, you will understand that Cassey has different ways of motivating different people at different times. So, don’t get the wrong message. Right now, there are clearly more people who WANT to lose weight and this is just one of Cassey’s ways of answering the call. Remember that each one of us here cannot please all of the people all of the time. Besides this, I’m not participating in the challenge primarily because I’m at my ideal weight and train like a lunatic in the gym 6-7 days a week – but I do not feel left out because Cassey’s main audience is a group of people who want to get fit, feel better, eat right, and look good. Finally, if you are a young person it’s easier to keep weight off. Older women, and men, normally gain weight due to a declining metabolism that begins in our 20’s or 30’s. I’m sure I will be echoing Cassey when I say, you should really love yourself more for your inner qualities so that they will shine on the outside. At the very least, you can cheer on your fellow POPsters from the sidelines who are trying to reach their goals. How’s that for participation?

      1. Becky says:

        Very well said!

  109. nuna says:

I wanna play, but i don’t have money at all u.u..i hope you can make another game like this again without having to bet money u.u..love you cassey ^w^….good luck to everyone!!!

  110. Ayanna says:

Cassey I have a question (forgive me if it was asked already but I didn’t see the answer): what if I only want to lose inches, not weight? My weight is actually good, I need to lower my bodyfat % and lose at least 3″ off my waist but I don’t want to lose weight. Can I still do this challenge?

    1. Becky says:

Considering that this is based on losing 4% of your current body weight, I would say you shouldn’t be a part of the betting. Eat clean, work with weights and weight-bearing exercises (which Pilates is), and some cardio. Depending on your body, finding the balance for losing fat and building muscle can be tricky…or easy. This was my personal challenge, too. I was at a healthy weight, but really needed to tone and build muscle. I figured it out eventually – no more muffin top now 🙂

  111. Victoria says:

Definitely going to try this challenge. I feel like putting money down is exactly the kick in the butt I need to get refocused on losing weight. Good luck to everyone else that is joining!

  112. Laura says:

I’m down! I’ll be turning 49 in July & my goal is to be able to do pullups…well, at least one unassisted pullup. This challenge fits right in with my goal. Yay! I’m pumped.

  113. jackie.o says:

I sooo totally in! I have had a crappy cold or allergies the past week and so I have had little energy and sleep, therefore I have been slacking on the workouts :/
My fiancee is finally motivated to loose weight and eat clean so I have no excuses!
I really need some extra $ and motivation so this couldn’t come at a better time!
Going to get anyone else to join that I can, that way there are better chances at winning more $$$!
    Heheheee! Thanks Cassey!

  114. Shannon says:

Will there still be a calendar for June? I don’t want to put money in anything but I definitely still want to do your calendar!

    1. blogilates says:

      yes there will!

  115. Uhh 4% is a lot for me says:

I started at 302 pounds in mid-February, and I’m at 266.8 today. Losing 4% of my body weight in a month is 11 pounds. Assuming I can consistently lose the same amount every single day — which really isn’t the case for me even if I do the same stuff every day, I have days where I gain rather than lose — I would have to lose about 0.4 pounds every single day. If I were just starting my weight loss, I might not balk at this… but I’m no longer at the “wow it’s just falling off!” phase.

I’d love to take this challenge… but I feel like 11 pounds in one month is a bit too much for me and healthy, long-term weight loss :\

    1. OM says:

like cassey said, dont bet against your chances of succeeding …also i see you mentioned that u feel like you gain some pounds on some days instead of losing – that is prolly because of the calorie intake/expenditure balance…so add healthy foods to your workout routine and dont worry about 0.4 lbs per day…aim at WEIGHT LOSS in one month..wouldn’t you still be proud of yourself if you lost 9 instead of 11 lbs ?? so go ahead and take the risk, goodluck! 😀

  116. Loes says:

I never react to posts, but I follow blogilates for a year now I think.
It’s a good oppurtunity to get active in the community.
Unfortunatly I don’t own a credit card, and my paypal account is blocked for some reason (I really don’t understand paypal anyways). So, I can’t participate.
But i wish everyone the best of luck!

  117. Jenny says:

I wish I could do this but I’m so poor that I don’t have money to put down as collateral! Is there any way that I can do this with group support, posting progress and pictures and stuff, but not be involved in the money part of it? Seriously, you have no idea how hard it is for me to pay my bills right now…$25 is a super huge chunk of change to me. 🙁

    1. Jenny says:

Also, I’m confused a bit about my desire to lose weight, because my doctor says my weight and BMI are perfect, and I’ve been stable at this exact weight (down to the decimal) for three years apparently (based on my past three physicals); so even though I want to be a little smaller, is this the weight I’m supposed to be at, and I just need to focus on toning?

  118. Autumn says:

I definitely don’t have $$ to spend (unemployed), but this sounds fun! I will be working out hard still!! Good luck to everyone!! =)

  119. Kaitlyn says:

Wow this is neat! The website really makes it impossible to cheat. I’m kind of intimidated by this challenge! Still trying to decide if I am going to do it.

    1. blogilates says:

      you should do it!!

      1. OM says:

can i still access your weight loss (for jUNe) videos even if i dont enter the bet…i am not looking to lose weight but rather to maintain and lose just a little bit…

      2. Kaitlyn says:

        Okay, you’ve convinced me! 😉

  120. Summer says:

Oh Cassey I want to do this but my exams are on for the next 3 weeks !

  121. danielle says:

When I first saw this post I thought, ” you should use dietbet!” And low and behold… you are! I have 5 days left on my first dietbet and I think I will make it. It’s been hard. Even netting a 3500 calorie deficit per week (with diet and exercise) and not really losing any weight, which is weird because I haven’t been doing much strength training to build muscle. I wish you could lose 4 percent of body fat instead of weight.

  122. Tiffany says:

I wish I had money to bet, but I am jobless and all the money I get goes towards school.
This post though has motivated me to start my journey once again and I will be checking out people progress so I can stay motivated. Good luck to all you guys and I will join in spirit. ^.^

  123. TJ says:

This is such a cool idea!! Although I’m worried about people cheating and saying “Oh yeah, I lost weight!” and they didn’t..I’m not too sure if I’ll join for that reason, but I’ll still do the workouts!

    1. TJ says:

Ah ok, there’s a section that explains it. Nevermind, if I have the money I will totally join in!

  124. Margriet says:

I really love this! But I think I’m gonna do this with a slight modification.
Because I’m in real need of new clothes/underwear I will donate some money to myself for every day I work out in June! So I can treat myself with some new outfits after this challenge, yayyyy

  125. Anna says:

What a nice idea, and I love all those pics you used! Gave me the giggles (especially the squirrel)

BLOG POST REQUEST/IDEA (or Vlog.. those are always awesome) :
How to Transition from Weight Loss Mode to Maintenance Mode.

I’m at a pretty ideal weight (almost three months of blogilates calendars!) and I’m kinda worried about starting to eat more in case I gain weight.. but also not wanting to lose any more weight and to focus on building more muscle! So I would love to hear your tips and suggestions!

  126. Lucia says:

    Hi guys!
Could you please help me? I’m not sure how to do this challange… I’m from Europe and here we use kg instead of pounds.
The description on the webstie says that it’s possible to join outside of the USA, but it also says that you have to show your weight in pounds… So how does it actually work? Or did I get something wrong?
I would appreciate your help, and sorry, my English sucks… 😀 😀

    1. Steph says:

Because it is 4% of weight, you can still figure out your loss by multiplying your weight in kilograms by 0.04. For example, if you are 50 kg, you would need to lose 2 kg to lose 4% of your body weight. If dietbet happens to say you need everything in lbs, take the numbers in kg and multiply them by 2.2. 🙂 Good luck!

      1. Jamie says:

The site works in both pounds and kilograms — it gives you the choice of which metric to use so you don’t have to translate.

whether your scale thinks in pounds or kilos, 4% is 4%!

    2. Gab says:

      Hi Lucia!
I’m in Australia, and we measure in kg as well. You can still do the challenge!! All you have to do, is take your weight in kilograms, then convert it. So type into google ‘__kg in pounds’ and it should give you your converted weight in pounds. Then just add that in!

      1. Lucia says:

Thank you all, for your help! 🙂
        I will try it, then!
        Thanks 😀

  127. Lina says:

I would love to do this! I really have to .. Getting married in 4 months
But i have my last exam on the 7th of june can I Join frim that day? Please please pleaseee!

  128. ashlie says:

Extra money in my pocket? yes please! Just signed up 🙂

  129. Kate says:

Can I ask you if you still eat yolo meals when you wanna lose weight? I always feel so guilty about yolo meals…

    1. Victoria says:

Yes you can still have YOLO meals when you want to lose weight, as long as you only have one YOLO meal a week (as Cassey has said, you ned to make it one meal not a day). In the long run you’ll probably end up doing better with your weight lose if you allow yourself to have a YOLO meal instead of completely depriving yourself.

  130. nimmy says:

Let’s do this! Game face ON!

  131. Jana says:

It sounds so nice! I wish I could join but I’m on erasmus now and don’t have any scale to weigh me on.
And even if I find one it would not be the same one as I leave back home before the end of the bet.
But if I can I will be following it and try the june work out plan:D
    Good luck!

  132. Tori says:

Cassey! I love this! Just this morning on my way to work I was thinking of different ways to amp up my workouts. I decided to run 2 miles in addition to what I already do (your Blogilates calendar). It’s like you’re a mind reader-this is exactly what I was looking for! So excited!!

  133. Cassandra says:

This would be such an amazing idea! Sadly I’m on the other side of this battle and need to gain weight through muscle and it’s just not gunna work for me. Good luck to everyone who is losing though c:

  134. Abigail says:

What if we are at our ideal weight and BMI and don’t want to lose anymore? I’m doing your workouts to gain muscle and get toned not lose weight.

    1. Michelle says:

I’m with ya Abigail! I’m not looking to lose any more weight. I’m looking to probably gain more weight in muscle.

  135. GV says:

I don’t understant why we have to pay? It would be amazing doing it without that too…. I love your vid’s because I can do them at hom… free! my economy can’t handle the bet 🙁

It’s not necessarily a “have to pay” situation. You’re putting up money as a bet that you’re going to lose the weight. If you do lose the weight you get your money back (and possibly more). If you don’t lose the weight, you do lose the money. If you think you can lose 4%, you’ll only be without the money for a month. You can still do the workouts even if you don’t bet.

Just wanted to say I love your positive attitude and awesome tips. I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I unfortunately don’t have the $25 up front to wage on myself cause well I am a stay at home mom on a super strict budget but YOU have inspired me to do something that will fit my budget. I am eating as healthy as I can and getting back into exercise by going to the gym and using your web videos to get fit. I have lost 30 lbs over the last year before I found you but since I started to hit a wall and a weight loss plateau. I know if I keep with you I will lose the other 30 lbs I want to lose, And be the best me I can. So where the does the bet come in you ask? I am setting back $2 for every pound I lose and by the end of July I am hoping for a new swim suit or cute summer outfit to show off my hard work. Thank you for all you do and your super delightful attitude. Because of you I am loving the idea of the future me.

I guess we won’t be able to tell if people are lying, but I guess that’s the point! I want to do this for me- not so anyone else thinks I can do it! Love the idea!!

Actually, I just looked at the website because I was thinking the same thing you were in regards to cheating, and they actually have a really neat process to keep cheating from happening!

I don’t have a lot of extra “me money” to bet with, I am choosing to spend the little money I do have on a 5 mile run in July but, I am “in” in spirit. I will bet on myself to lose the last 10-12lbs I have been letting hang on from stress eating. I am betting I reach my 68# goal the the end of your challenge! You may have just provided me with the push I need to get out of my own way.

I really wish you all the best luck to lose weight and have fun with it.
I want to lose weight as well, but unfortunately I do not have enough money to pay it (as a teenager :D).
I’ll do the challenge on my own with you and hopefully you’ll have a great time!
Greetings from Germany, Cassey, thank you – for like.. everything!

How will you know who did and didn’t reach their goal?

Dietbet has a structured way of eeighing in and out. You weigh in with photos and they give you a word you have to have on the index card in the photo to make sure it’s not an old photo. They will also audit people that seem to not be following the rules. It’s a legit program.
