Jalapeño Simple Syrup
- 1/2 jalapeño sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Mocktail
- 8 oz blood orange juice
- 6 oz non-alcoholic tequila I like Ritual Zero Proof
- 1 lime
- ice
- 1 blood orange sliced, for garnish
- 1/2 jalapeño sliced, for garnish
- 1 tbsp Tajín or salt, for rim
Jalapeño Simple Syrup
Combine sugar, water, and sliced jalapeño in a small saucepan over medium high-heat. Stir while bringing to a boil, and then reduce heat to simmer. Continue to simmer for 3-4 minutes, and then remove from heat.
Let the syrup cool to room temp. It should thicken as it cools. Then transfer to a bottle or container (strain if you like) and refrigerate.
Mocktail
In a carafe, combine blood orange juice, non-alcoholic tequila, juice of one lime, and 1 oz jalapeño simple syrup.
Add ice, extra jalapeño slices and blood orange slices (if desired).
Prepare glasses by running a lime wedge along the rim of each glass, and then gently roll into Tajín on a plate or shallow bowl.
Pour your Spicy Blood Orange Margarita Mocktail into the prepared glasses and serve!
