Twihards and POPsters in LA!

Twihards and POPsters in LA!

Hey POPsters!

Been traveling to and from LA and the bay a lot and living out of my luggage again. Boo. Me no likey. But this LA trip was full of unexpected surprises! I got the chance to teach my Twilight “Breaking Sweat” workout in front of hundreds of Twi-hards on Friday. It was sooooo much fun!!! I was there with Jamba Juice and a couple other instructors. Our job was to keep the inhabitants of “Tent City” fit and entertained.

How nuts is that! Like what!? That’s in LA Live. And that’s just a portion of it. Thousands of people from all over the country, and even world came in to see the stars of “Breaking Dawn” and the premiere. It was insane! I made a lil vloggy vlog and will put something together for you guys on BlogilatesTV. Just waiting from footage of me teaching the actual workout.

As I was teaching I saw some girls run up to the stage and yelled “CASSEY!!!!” with huge smiles. POPsters!!! YAY!!!! I love love loved getting to know them and talk about how much we love working out together. They told me they started working out with me when they were in college and now they’re in pharmacy school. It was the best! These girls came from Florida and Texas for the premiere. I am so happy we got to meet each other. Makes filming and editing YouTube vids more than worth it 🙂 Love u guys – thanks for tweeting me this pic Julie!

Oh! I want to show you something I worked on today. I had a ton of shirts laying around in my room and instead of folding them and putting them away…I decided to decorate my whole wall with them in rainbow fashion! I am thinking this may look cool as the background for our workouts. Err…well I hope! I even included the now vintage “Muffintops are for muffins only” tank. Aww…pulling that out and seeing it reminds me of when Blogilates was just a baby 🙂 Look how big our community has grown! It’s full of fun and positive POPsters from all over the world!

Speaking of community…I just saw the mock-up of the new Community that will be coming to the blog very soon. I am working on adding some neat features to it so that this website will become a cool hub for all things fitness. I seriously CANNOT WAIT for us to all become closer friends on here. It will be safe, contained, and so personal. Think you will love!

Ah! And this morning I did something different with the original Banana Pancakes recipe. I wanted to make them chewier and fluffier so, deviating from the 2 eggs + 1 banana ingredient list, I did this instead:

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4-/3 cup egg whites
  • 1 banana (it wasn’t ripe and browning, so I actually unpeeled it, put the banana in a bowl and then heated it in the microwave for about 1 min just to soften)
  • 1 tsp psyllium husk (I got this at Trader Joes – this is what adds that thicker, gooey texture to the batter)

I mixed it all up (the microwaving made the banana so much more manageable) and then put it on the griddle. Flip, flip. done. Eat!

The psyllium made it soooo easy to flip because it was exactly what I needed to bind the mushiness. And it also made the cakes less sweet and more bready. I am going to make this tomorrow again! For those of you saying this doesn’t turn out or it crumbles, try adding the psyllium husk! If you don’t have that, you can also add oats or protein powder to make it thicker. The reason why your pancakes may not flip though is because the heat may be too high and it will burn the outermost layer while the inside stays uncooked. Be patient and set the heat low. Also make sure your batter is properly mixed! You can use a magic bullet or blender if you’re not sure.

Ok guys, time to got o bed so I can teach class tomorrow morning. I love teaching so much!!! I don’t ever wanna give it up. Ever.

What are some things you love soooo much that you would do it for free if you didn’t need the $?

<3 Cassey

  1. Hey Cassey,

I just wanted to say thank you for the recipe! I’ve used the original version several times now. I like it but my fiance says they aren’t close enough to the real thing for him. I’m really excited to try out this new version. Maybe he will eat these. On my next shopping trip I’ll see if Sunflower has it. ( No Trader Joe’s here in CO) Do you know if psyllium husk is known by any other names? Also, what was the name brand you used?

    Thanks for all the inspiration!

One thing I looooooooove to do more than anything is color guard (you know the flags and rifles and sabres that go with the band) .
I did it in high school and I pay to keep performing with professional groups over the summer. I currently perform with the Blue Devils (15 time DCI World Champions) and my last summer to perform is 2014. During the offseason I am a color guard instructor for high school kids.

Teaching them the activity I love and watching them get better and grow to love it as much as I do is the most rewarding thing in the world.
If there was anything I could keep doing forever if I didn’t need the money it would definitely be keep teaching color guard 🙂

Hey cassey 🙂 sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask..but I was wondering if you have any routines or plans written out for what you do on the elliptical or stair stepper machine. I have an injury and cannot run but I want to still do great cardio. Please let me know when you get a chance! Thank you 🙂

Thats crazy S*** that so many people camp out to see the movie! Maybe I am just too old but can’t imagine camping out for anything! lol. Although I did get up super early to see PSY when he came to Sydney! I felt like a teeny-bopper!

I like the variation of the pancake. I have been having the banana pancake every day but I add flaxseed meal and almond meal which makes it more fluffy and sometimes natural pea-isolate protein. It’s so good and really filling.

So glad you can do something that you love. I feel the same about blogging. I do do it for free and it’s a full on job posting everyday but I love it so much! It makes me so happy and I don’t care if I never make money! I feel like I finally found my thing, you know!

Just made your Banana pancakes today with my best friend! The healthy pancake gave me peace of mind as I coated mine with peanut butter, maple syrup, and chocolate chips 😀

    Hey Cassey!
I have “my girl” and I would even go to her without getting any money if her mom could not afford it anymore. She has a Russian background and is in fourth grade now and her written German is very bad. So I go there twice a week and help her with her homework and play with her to help her. And it always, always makes me, but also her, happy. I love it so much, I would never ever give it up unless I had to!
    love from Germany <3
