My Next 90 – Stretching My Limits.

Hey guys!

It’s been so nice not having to stay up super late writing. I’ve enjoyed the break a lot 🙂

BUT!!! I totally miss writing to you! So here I am! I’m going to come up with a writing schedule for myself because that really helped me blog more consistently. If I tell myself to do it when I “feel like it” – I’m going to push it towards the end of the day and by then, I’ll be too tired to blog.

So, I’m going to try to blog 3 times a week! Let’s say Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for now. I’ll start with that and see how it goes. I am leaving for a 2-week vacation in about a week (OMG FREAKING OUT BECAUSE SO MUCH TO DO), so I don’t think I can commit to this schedule then.

Anyway! This blog post is gonna be all about my “Next 90”! I’ve decided that my focus will be on stretching my limits – in mind, body, and career.

Let’s start it off with some clear goals for my Next 90.

NEXT 90 MIND GOALS:

1. Blog at least 3x a week (except when on vacation) to speak my feelings and clear thoughts

I am so happy that because of my 90 day journey, I now am no longer scared of writing. It feels good to me again. I’m excited that blogilates.com has returned to being my fitness diary. So grateful to be home again.

NEXT 90 BODY GOALS:

1. Front splits with hips closer to floor

2. Middle splits with crotch to the floor (will try really hard but might need more time)

3. Wheel with hands underneath shoulders (will try really hard but might need more time)

4. Pointier feet

I need to SERIOUSLY make stretching a daily thing. Workouts I do pretty much 6x a week as a part of my routine. But stretching – I have not worked up to making that a routine thing yet.

I think I will need to find a new TV show to watch so I can stretch for the entire duration of the episode. That will help me get through it!  Any suggestions on what’s good these days? I love historical dramas and documentaries but I can’t handle anything scary!

NEXT 90 CAREER GOALS:

1. Get ahead. Work towards planning out content and product launches at least 3-6 months in advance. This will create seamless workflow for our team, and time to breathe and achieve, without feeling like I have to keep doing more because I “feel” like I am not doing enough.

Good news is that I’ve already started planning out 2020’s POPFLEX launches and guys, it is going to be an EXCITING YEAR – as long as my entire system works according to plan! There are a lot of people and moving parts involved, so some of it is not 100% in my control.

I have created a 2020 visual calendar of important product launches, marketing campaigns, and events throughout the year and I am feeling really good about how it all is looking. I love seeing my year in front of me. It tells me exactly where I need to go, and now my job is to figure out how to get there. I love it. Feeling really good about this.

Currently, I have not “caught up” to being 3-6 months ahead. I am dying right now, but I will get there, I know it. Just gotta put my head down and work really hard so that I can breathe easier later on. I NEED to get to this place of calmness, or else I will literally die stressed out, feeling like I never caught up.

BEFORE PICS!

Alrighty, here’s where I am right now!

Shoulders are back are SO TIGHT! I want my palms to get under my shoulders! I’ve got like a foot to go! Here George is trying to encourage me!

This is my standing split. Trying my best with that pointed foot, but looks pretty flat! Will need to do my arch stretches.

Front splits. See that hole underneath my hip/crotch area? I want to try to eliminate that hole eventually. I will be practicing over splits to try to get there.

Middle splits. The enemy. It hurts so bad. Goal is to get that crotch to the floor. Can I do it!!?? I better get my crotch to touch the floor ONCE in this lifetime.

Stretching teaches you a lot. About being ok with taking time. About embracing patience. About finding peace in being still. About leaning into the discomfort in order to get better.

I’m excited for this Next 90!!

What’s your 90 day focus?

Like I’ve said before, 90 days is long enough so that you have room for making mistakes and learning from them, but short enough so that you feel the pressure to stay focused. It is truly the perfect amount of time to break bad habits, build good ones, and create a new lifestyle for yourself.

Think about one thing you want to get better at. What’s that one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never got a chance to put energy towards it? What is that?

I want you to write in the comments what that is. Consider it your declaration to the universe!! Now, will you decide to commit to making your dream come true? Or will you leave it as a dream? You decide.

If you’re not sure what you want to do on your next 90, I have an idea for you. Because you guys follow Blogilates, most of you are obviously veteran POPsters! Meaning…you’ve memorized my videos, you know my moves by heart, and you’ve inspired your own family and circle of friends to get fitter with your healthy lifestyle. So…wanna take it a step further?

Have you ever thought of teaching fitness as a side hustle?

Seriously! If you love working out, you could get paid to do it! And get this – most gyms that will hire you, will ALSO give you a free membership, so you never have to pay to go to the gym ever again!

I started teaching when I was a sophomore in college and that decision back then changed the course of my entire life. I mean, I thought it was a cool way to make extra money for textbooks and clothes, plus I enjoyed how good it felt to teach a class. But I had ZERO IDEA how my love for group fitness would lead me to where I am today.

If you’re curious…here’s what I say. Head to a training. It will challenge you to become a stronger, more confident version of who you are right now. It will teach you how to be a leader, and how to teach other people to become stronger, more confident versions of themselves. And you know what? It’s one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

Right now, we just announced 48 new POP Pilates Trainings! They are all currently 50% for our Black Friday Sale – sooooo, pick one and just go!

Use code “blackfriday19” at checkout to apply the 50% off discount. The trainings are so fun and empowering. You’re going to get so much out of the experience.

If you couldn’t find a training near you, then guess what!!??? You can take the training online! Just sign up for my POP Pilates Online Workshop.

If you have ANY questions about getting certified, please ask me in the comments! I will be browsing through and answering!

Hey Cassey. I was wondering how your 90 day stretching journey was going? Your first 90 day journey inspired me and I’m halfway there! I’ve been working out consistently and eating healthy on this journey. During my cools downs, I wish I was more flexible. Then I think about how your stretching is going and looking forward to tips. Hope you’re well and look forward to hearing from you.

  2. Ana says:

Fun fact: not everyone can achieve the full, touching-the-floor, middle splits. One possibility is due to the specific structure of a persons hip joint: coxa profunda or a deep-seated hip-socket.
I hope you can achieve the best result again, you are so inspiring ❤️🥰😘

I am looking for some good blog sites for studying. I was searching over search engines and found your blog site. Well, I like your high-quality blog site design plus your posting abilities. Thanks!

  4. Cah274 says:

To keep us along with you for your journey, how about a stretching challenge like your 100 ab or glutes ones? I know a video a day is a lot, but it’s so engaging, and let’s be real: most of us could use some flexibility work!

  5. Esther says:

Awww I love this post Cassy! My husband and I are moving and also since its close to Christmas we’ve been so busy so I will need to do some kind of 90 day challenge!

  6. Clint S says:

Hey Cassey my name is Clint. I liked the article very much. I have been practicing mindfullness and yoga for a year. I have never felt better. Recently my wife got me this Hyperbolic stretching thing check it out. let me know what you think. https://bit.ly/38wx6jA is the link. Thank you for the inspiration

  7. Saraahx says:

For the TV shows, I would suggest: 1/ The Mindy Project (sooo funny, it’s like “The Office”) 2/ Salem (if you don’t mind it having 3 seasons with no ending) 3/ The Sinner (it’s not scary but it did scar me…) 4/ Alias Grace (thought-provoking and very interesting, I LOVED IT!!!) 5/ Dead to Me (with a craycray chick)

  8. Saraahx says:

Cassey, please take GREAT care of yourself! You’ve been stressed out and have been working really, crazy hard for a long time now. As much as it inspires me to be better, more hard-working work wise, it also worries me that you don’t have much peace and calmness in your life. It’s like everything is always hectic!
I’d like to stretch more too. Stretch and do more yoga! Also want to do the 90 day journey for me to find a job (or career) that will fulfill me or that will make me happy enough at the very least.

  9. RAHUL UDENIA says:

Hey there Cassey I appreciate the work and efforts you put in your work overall, all your blog posts are literally can motivate anyone and make them apply your tactics in their life. Try some new exercises regarding “hip flexion’..by clicking here bit.ly/hipflexorexercise

  10. Lauren says:

I really liked Mindhunter. It’s not scary per se, but can definitely be suspenseful. And then the Real Crime Profile podcast breaks down each episode with the facts! Such a good listen!

  11. Kristina says:

    Watch Outlander!

  12. Misa says:

I subscribed to your channel and i always got the workout calendar, i mean for these 90 days. Will you still be doing and sending workouts? Will i get the calendar for december?

  13. Krys says:

If you like Downton Abbey, try the Manor House next. It’s short, but apparently there’s a whole series about people living in a house longing like people did in a certain time period.

  14. Allison says:

Congratulations Cassey!! This is such an inspiring post – not just about the fitness, but about the career/mind aspects too. I’ve always wanted to get more flexible – will you share the routines that you do for this journey? Would be curious both about the stretches you do and for how long each day/how consistently. I try to stretch for 10 minutes a day but not sure if that is long enough. As to the TV shows, I second other commenters in suggesting The Crown and Outlanders (the first 2 seasons are on Netflix, btw, if you don’t have Starz). Also Great British Bake-Off on Netflix – you seem like just the kind of cheerful, charming person who would enjoy it if you haven’t seen it!

  15. Ruth says:

Cassey, I am beyond happy to see that you’re back! I’m going 52 in February and I’ve always been inspired by you. I love your philosophy in life and your workout videos. Your workouts were a family affair for me and my daughters! Then, you started to blog less and I just attributed it to your being so busy as you became more and more influential. So truly, I am ecstatic that you’re back to blogging regularly and that you had such an amazing experience with your 90-day journey! You are so real and authentic which is difficult to find out there in the world of fitness. Thank you so much for all the work you do and for continuing to be strong, inspiring, and authentic.

  16. Jpup says:

I love this so much! I think it’s refreshing to not be focused on just a weight/body fat goal, but like a flexibility goal and it’s still inspirational but doesn’t feel as pressuring.

  17. Becky H says:

I love these next 90 goals! I was so inspired by your 90 Day Journey that I immediately snapped up the Fit Journal, and will be planning out my next 90 days this week! I am going to focus on getting my weight down, because I know doing that will contribute to my overall health, and it’s a good motivating factor for me to track. Thank you for sharing your journey, and I’m looking forward to the next! Can’t wait to see your posts in the coming months!

  18. skline3386 says:

Cassey, you are amazing! Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you the best of luck and truly believe you will find success in meeting these goals, just as you did with your previous 90 days. I don’t know that I will ever be flexible enough to do the splits, but I would love to stretch more. I’m 38, and really just trying to get in good shape. My goal is to eat better. I have a long way to go on this one, but I want to start simple by doing things like adding more veggies and fruits instead of going for something sweet every time for a snack. I think if I make such decisions regularly, I won’t even have to think about making them eventually.

  19. denisefn says:

My dream 90-day plan is doing PIIT28 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 with no pauses in between them!! I got them 6 months ago, and I’m Always excited to start, but everytime I finish PIIT28 1.0, I somehow fall off the wagon :/ But I’m trying again today, and I hope that I can do it! I’ll buy the 12-week planner to stay accountable (posting in my fitness insta account used to help too, but even that I’ve stopped doing ._. why do we do this?)

  20. Tabea says:

I would recommend The Crown for you as it is both a historical series and (in a way) a documentary. (Some facts are not 1000% accurate). Outlander is also super good, but since you said you can’t handle anything scary STAY AWAY – it was hard to watch sonetimes.

  21. Celica says:

    Hi casey
Here are some of my favourite historical non scary series: downtown abbey, when calls the heart (more sope like).
My favourite serie from my childhood is little house on the prairie with michael landon. I absolutly love it.
On netflix there is an awesome chinese serie called princess weyoung.
Good luck! You do best just beeing yourself! Don’t mind the negative comments!
    Lots of love

  22. Urja says:

Hi Cassey! You mentioned that you wanted a new show to watch in your blog post and I’m here to your rescue! Have you ever watched kdramas? They are sooo addictive and I can’t help but binge watch every single one because they are just that good. Some that I absolutely love and would definitely recommend are Abyss (on Netflix), Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung (Historical drama on Netflix), Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (on Netflix), My First First Love (on Netflix). Please try them out and if you want any more recommendations, let me know!

  23. Kk says:

I really like your goals. My goal would be to be more flexible. I’m still a few inches from the floor on my front split. Have you thought of incorporating your daily stretching routine into the workout calendar then we could all work on our flexibility? I think it would be nice to have a monthly plan for all areas of flexibility. Just a thought 🙂

  24. Amy M. says:

I love your 90 day goals! I would love to be more flexible, but don’t really know where to start beyond stretching after every workout.

  25. DC says:

My 90 day goal, remove 20 more lbs by being faithful to the 1200 cal, optional goodies, and my selected gym workout I did it today with no issues: in brief, Cassey: 60 min treadmill at 3%,3 mph; free weights per and/back strength and alt w/legs. Have a trainer at gym but follow your exercises and try them! You are so flexible, I aspire.

    1. Kate Cashen says:

I really want to eliminate overeating, enjoying the food I get and making more of an experience instead of how much I’ll get cause there’s always gonna be more. Even of there isn’t for that meal, what’s wrong with being hungry for a bit? I have to remind myself I’ll be okay😉

  26. Kasey Hieter says:

Cassey, you look AMAZING! And happy:) I am going to be 48 this March and starting this coming Monday December 2nd, I want to start my own first 90 day journey towards my most badass fit self yet! I’ve had 2 surgeries, a major car accident, and a broken ankle over a 2 year period, and am now at my heaviest, and most out of shape that I’ve ever been. I hope to continue in 90 day increments until I am rocking my 50th birthday like a boss. I don’t watch TV so I’m no help there, but looks like you’re getting alot of comments on that. I would like to know about the cost of becoming certified.

  27. Maelisa says:

My 90 days is about tracking my money! I know that what is measured grows and I’ll be tracking my business income daily for the next 90 days. My other commitment is to thank my customers more. I will write at least 10 thank you cards each month. Thanks for your inspiration and vulnerability, Cassey!

  28. Laurie says:

I have always wanted to do at least one full chin up on a chin up bar.

  29. Steph says:

Please share you stretching tips as you’re going through your flexibility journey!! I’m also trying to get more flexy but my arm mobility is similarly tight and I’m still several inches away from the floor on my front splits and a million years away for middles haha.

  30. RR says:

Cassey, Are you going to put out a new stretching challenge? I thought you mentioned something about that a few months back. Maybe it could go along with your next 90 days for flexibility

    1. skline3386 says:

I would love a new stretching challenge! I have such a hard time committing to stretching, but I love your challenges!

  31. Sigrid says:

    The splits!

  32. Pao says:

I really liked Reign on Netflix it’s about Mary Queen of Scots 🙂

  33. LindsayNava says:

I recommend Outlander (Starz) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime) for your next TV show. Both are period dramas.

Looking forward to reading about your next 90 day journey!

    1. Jessica says:

Uh, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is the best show out there! 3° season stars next friday! Yay!

  34. Sara says:

Starting my 90 days tomorrow! got my fit journal in and I AM SO EXCITED. You’re so inspiring and I just can’t wait for what you will come up with in 2020. I have been following you for a long time and I just LOVE you! So inspiring. My 90 journey is going to be geared more towards self care. I have a degree in art and I haven’t drawn anything in so long 🙁 So one of my goals is to draw or write poetry everyday. Another goal I have is to read a chapter of a book before bed. I love reading and I just joined a book club! I haven’t read a full book in a while. Its almost like coming home to myself in this journey. On top of working out and eating better through the holidays AND doing things that make me feel more like myself… I am so pumped. I also love your new stretching goals! I am a yoga instructor and I would LOVE to get into middle splits too! Ill be chekcing back in to see how your journey goes! Keep on keeping on, sister! <3

  35. angmerritt says:

Unless I follow along with someone (like you), I just can’t get it together stretching. I’ll sit on the floor, do a couple stretches, then think, huh, I don’t know what else to do. Lol. So watching TV is hard! I need to start a 90 day journey. I am 42 and weight is creeping on even with working out. I have felt blaoted for several weeks…something is going on. I need to be an investigator like you and figure this out! I have the 12 week fit planner so I am going to commit! Thanks for inspiring me.

  36. Carrie Telegin says:

Hi, on the November 20 I started my own 90 day challenge and it is to get into exercising everyday like walking it could be a big challenge because I work on the weekends plus Monday then the rest of the week I am exhausted but the last 4 days was going well can’t wait to see how I do at the end.

  37. Sandra says:

I’m so excited to have your writing back! Can’t tell you how motivating you are and how helpful you are to staying on track. My 90 days goal…so many! I’ll start by being realistic and saying I want to lose 15 lb in 90 days. So from here (11/23 ) to 2/23/20!. I want to make working out at least 4 times a week a consistent thing. It’s getting easier and easier! And to make stretching a priority. I stretch MAYBE once a week, it’s not great. Ultimately my dream is to lift my leg above my head into a standing side split—-loooong way to go!

Keep hustling, but take a nice a long break!!
    ❤️ From MO

  38. AnitaMaja says:

I am starting my 90 day journey to get into the best shape of my life on Monday, which is Thanksgiving week! I have until Valentine’s Day. I want to lose 15 pounds and weigh 129. To do this I will eat an anti-inflammatory diet which is mostly cutting out junk. I will eat fruit and occaisionaly potato in my soup, but mostly low carb.

  39. JenniferN says:

You’re way more advanced in splits than I am lol. If you have Disney plus The Imagineering Story is excellent.

  40. Karen Huntley says:

    This will help me.

  41. bearika_ballerina says:

I have my left split but I can only get it like every other day. I want to get it every day and my right side and middle and I’d like to be able to even get into a bridge.
You could watch something with flexibility in it like a dance show. Dance Academy is a good show if you like teen-y shows. I’m 34 and have watched it through a couple of times. And it has really good dancing.

    1. blogilates says:

OOh I’ll give it a shot!

  42. lizzygc says:

I would love to be able to do any splits at all!!
Question about certification: once certified what’s the next step to getting a class to teach somewhere/schedule for that? I’d love to be certified!!!!

  43. Verena says:

Dear Cassey, congratulations on finishing your journey!! I hope you are proud of yourself and not feeling any regrets about the last 90 days. I wasn´t able to read all your posts the day you published them, but I loved those evenings when I could catch up on everything. So I am also excited that you want to keep blogging regularly.
I think, it´s really exciting that you are already planning new challenges for the next 90 days. Actually, for me there are so many things that I would like to improve in the next months… My stretching is getting better and better thanks to your videos, though I am still light-years away from splits or wheel-pose. I am a bit frustrated with my body being fit, but having so much belly fat. I have always been on the more “chubbier” side when thighs are concerned, but I am fine with these, somehow – they feel strong. I can feel the muscles underneath my belly, too, but since the birth of my daughter the belly fat just seems to accumulate. I was actually thinner after her birth than now after 1,5 years. My eating habits are not something special (maybe a bit too many carbs and sweets) and I love doing your workouts (plus some crossfit), but my problem is probably mainly the missing sleep. Not only my daughter keeps me awake, but also so many concerns about my work (trying to finish my phd with a toddler is not a piece of cake) and I just think too much all the time. I am actually glad now that I wrote this tiny passage about me and my problems. At home, I was always taught to be happy with what I have and what I am, but I am not, even though I am healthy, have a family and a home and I feel ungrateful, if I still complain – not sure if this sentence made sense now, though. So, I am sorry that I used your blog now a little bit as a therapy session…
I hope, you have a great vacation! Enjoy every day; you deserve it!

  44. celestinetrt says:

My goal is to finally get my front split 💪💪

  45. Linda says:

  46. WillWork4Cheese says:

I was one of the people that felt some kinda way when you first shared all your numbers for your fitness journey. Then I thought that wait a minute, I’ve seen loads of guys in fitness do that exact thing and it’s never bothered me then… I even thought it was interesting. I realised that the problem I was having, wasn’t with you, but with the ridiculous pressure that women are always under to look like this or smell like that or be such and such. That pressure has never come from you. You are not the problem. I’ve been working on my flexibility, as well, but I still bend like a dry twig. I’ll go on this round with you! 😀 Excited!

  47. My goal is to finish reading a few of Gabrielle Bernstein books in the new year! I love her to death. I think you’ll have an awesome time stretching in the splits while watching a good Netflix show…maybe Anne of Green Gables?

  48. Ellie says:

I really enjoy running, but I hardly ever take time to do it, so my goal is to prepare for a half-marathon that will be taking place in April. I’m so excited because my sister bought me the fitness journal and I cannot wait to use it!!

  49. Reem says:

    👍🏻

  50. Reem says:

This year I’ve managed to achieve several goals I’ve set for myself and it honestly feels great to do so!! I actually was very interested in taking Yoga to a professional level, but still didn’t manage to get around this goal. Yet currently, my country is going through instability, protests, economic crisis, and it honestly has been so overwhelming. I think i’ve reached a point where i’m not able to think or plan ahead for the future rather than focusing on passing by day by day.. I’m grateful for everything I have and I hope we’d reach a better state of peace. As for planning a journey, what is your advice on maintaining a healthy mindset that would carry you on with your hopes and dream amidst the chaos?

  51. LisaZ19 says:

One of my goals is to eat healthier. All the nutrition plans I have found are geared to a Mediterranean type of diet, west coast type of foods. I need a “Middle America” plan. Any ideas?

  52. Esajas says:

You should watch Crown on netflix!

  53. Heather says:

If you start doing yoga, you’ll be able to do all that stretchy stuff you want, and you’ll probably calm down enough to start managing your time better, too. Try YouTube; there’s a million free yoga classes. Also, you don’t have to blog publicly to get your thoughts out. Just write in a journal or on the notes app on your phone or something.

    1. Diana says:

This is exactly what I have been doing in a nutshell. I love yoga and I write in a digital journal on my computer. One benefit of writing a blog, though is that people can give you helpful suggestions on your journey. We can learn a lot from others.

  54. Diana says:

What you said about stretching is deep. I have recently got into yoga and it feels so good. Like medicine for your body. It is definitely something I want to take more time for and get better at. I need to sit down and brainstorm my other goals, as far as career and personal. I am a recovering perfectionist so that is always a work in progress for me to not let that hold me back. I am also a chronic procrastinator that struggles with staying consistent with things. These are all things I want to really work on improving now and in 2020. I plan on starting your beginners workout calendar next month followed by a yoga session right after the workouts for the day. Then I plan on building from there. I have always thought being a fitness instructor would be a great way to stay in shape. It is literally your job. It seems like it would be fun to be a pop pilates instructor. Maybe one day. I have been thinking about wanting to lead something like that since I started taking ballet barre. Which helped me with pointing my feet a lot. I used to not be able to point my toes at all because I would get these horrible and painful foot cramps and spasms, even from activities like swimming or just having my feet in a stretched out position when laying down. All of that stopped when I started taking ballet barre and I could stretch my feet pretty far. When I stopped doing ballet barre, the foot cramps and spasms came back.

  55. Melissa says:

The crown is a gray historical / current (most) drama on Netflix to watch. I love it. My 90 day journey will be to focus and get the the splits(front) on both sides. Have never been able to do it. So here goes nothing

    1. Diana says:

I was able to get the middle splits once in my life when I was little after doing stretches with my sister. I don’t remember the specific stretches but they worked that one time and I haven’t been able to do it again since lol.

  56. Lucy says:

You should watch ‘The Crown’ on Netflix! Season 3 just got released so there’s 30 episodes 🤩
I’m definitely going to take advantage of the instructor training offer – I’m studying to become an Exercise To Music instructor too, so Pop Pilates will be a great addition! I’ve been following since 2012 and wouldn’t be in this position if I hadn’t found your videos after I had a big surgery, so thank you!

    1. blogilates says:

YAY!!! Let me know how it goes!

  57. Sahar says:

You should watch Call the Midwife! On Netflix! Great historical drama to stretch to 🙂

    1. blogilates says:

This is the 2nd time I’ve heard about this!

  58. Elise says:

The toys that made us onetfloxix is great; the crown; grace and frankie; wont you be my neighbor; best of luck and i cant wait to see ypur progress 🙂

  59. Wednesday Bushong says:

I’ve been working on stretching too! I want to get my front splits someday….I’m still on the tallest side of the yoga block lol! I’ve been stretching more consistently but will be following along with you 😀
