Hey guys!

HAPPY JULY!!! This is the month of sunshine, smiles, short shorts, sunscreen, sand, and swimsuits! (What other “s” words can I include!?) That’s why your July Calendar was artfully painted to bring you to the beach. I really hope you like it 🙂

A perfect combination of POP Pilates bodyweight exercises along with some HIIT and cardio daily to make sure that you’re burning fat and building muscle at the same time. Do not pay attention to your weight on the scale. Please pay attention to how your clothes fit and how you FEEL. I promise you will have a lot more fun this way. Also, to make this month even more exciting, I am giving you an end goal that ALL OF US are going to complete. Along with building a strong and sculpted body, you are ALSO going to get into the SPLITS!!! OMG what is it with me and illteration today? Haha.

That’s why you will have daily stretch homework. Only 10 min a day and I promise that if you are 100% dedicated you will either get into the splits or get very very close!

HERE’S HOW TO JOIN IN ON THE CHALLENGE!

1. Screenshot the image above and post it on your instagram as a sign that you’re in! Make sure to hashtag #journeytosplits and #blogilates. Also follow @blogilates and @poppilatesofficial because we’re announcing random winners every Friday just for participating!

(If you don’t have an Instagram account or don’t feel comfortable posting on your personal one, just make a new one dedicated to your fitness! Feel free to use the words “POPster”, “POP”, or “Blogilates” in your username!)

2. Stick to the 30 days. Do not skip a single day. Promise? That’s how you’ll get into the splits. Every day I want you to post a picture of the pose of the day as a sign that you did your stretches.

3. Ok but here’s how this month’s challenge is different than The Stretch Project. Everyday I will need you to do stretches 1-5, your foundational stretches. You may not skip them. So, the first 5 days, you are doing the first 5 stretches! Then beginning day 6, you will just add one move on. So on day 6, you will do 1-5 and 6. On day 30, you will do 1-5 and 30. Get it? So you will do 6 moves a day beginning day 6.

4. How long to hold? I want you to hold each stretch for around 30 sec to 1 min per side. Total, each day you should spend around 10 min. stretching.

    Twi weeks ago I’ve started the new beginner’s workout calendar and I think it was quite simple.. I did two weeks but I feel stronger and ready for start the August Calendar.
    Can I ask you a question?
    1- Do I have to do the workouts while I’m watching the video? Or first I have to watching the video, learn it and do that? Sorry I’m really confused

    This month’s calendar is flawless!!!!!I LIKE LIKE LIKE all of your workout!!!!They really make me sore buy also stronger mentally and physically!!!!!!!Now I can’t even image my morning without your workouts!!!!!

    Unfortunately,I have wide shoulders and I don’t like this part of my body very much(

    I love the monthly calendar!! I just found out that I’m pregnant though and I was wondering if you could make a calendar for pregnancy. I plan on at least trying to do the normal calendar because not being active is just NOT an option. =) I know you are busy but I would LOVE even just one calendar that I could go through for the next 8 months (I’m already 4 weeks).

    This is the first challenge that I will not be able to finish. Both my hamstrings are hurting and it’s too painful to do all the stretches. It’s okay though. My ultimate goal is to do a wall free headstand so not being able to do the splits doesn’t hurt that much.

    hi cassey,

    i’ve been following the july calendar workout for 2 weeks and i can really see the difference in my body esp my tummy and thigh. they got a bit smaller and i’m so happy because i achieved that only in 2 wks time. but my problem is my fatty arms and my underarm fat is bulging out of my bra….. 🙁 what should i do to burn the fats on these areas faster? is it ok if i do the july calendar wo in the morning and in the afternoon can i do some wo for arms and underarms? which arm exercise would you suggest that i should follow? thanks.

    Hello Cassey ! was wondering if there s a routine workout for when you travel.It really is hard to get back on track after vacation .I went on a cruise and I found myself wanting to do some moves before the day started however its really expensive to get internet on the cruise ship. Is there anyway you can d like a travel printable workout for just vacation time ? Thanks I really enjoy doing my daily blogilates in the morning! It can be a bit challenging with two kids home in the summer but I either have them cheer me on or wake up earlier to do my routine.

    I stumbled into the videos last June. Been trying to lose weight for summer season.
    However, I took this 2 1/2 week vacation. And well, I’m struggling to get back on track.
    I’ve opened the newsletter for the July Workout. I need help as to what would be the best work-out to lose the calories. Any suggestions?

    P.S.
    I loved the squat challenges – really tough. But I love the sweat afterwards.

    Hey all,

    I’ve began to become committed to the July Calendar, and I followed the videos Cassey has put down for each day. I was wondering that by doing the calendar, would I achieve a thin, lean body w/ some muscle indications (kind of similar to a model’s body), or a muscular but toned body like Cassey? I am trying to achieve a thin body and I’m trying to avoid being bulky or having too much muscle mass (making my legs look big instead of lean), does anyone know if this calendar will make me more bulky than lean and thin? My objective of working out is to be lean and thin while still having a good amount of muscle, just not to the point where I look more bulky than like a VS model.

    Would really appreciate any replies, currently really confused!

      Well a lot of that depends on your current body type anyways. And she says that you need to add good cardio during the week to be able to burn off the fat. Personally, I noticed a lot of the videos are more muscle building (love her though) with little cardio but I would recommend (just as she does) to add more cardio.

      You would really need to do actual weight training to get extremely bulky. Body weight training is going to help you build muscles and tone not bulk up.

    Cassey, you are a great motivator and you’re workouts are my best way to chill and relax after a hard working day. I love the idea of free personal training you offer and I use your videos frequently. Now becoming a baby I cannot do every workout with the intensity I did before but maybe there is a chance to get one or some videos for pilates during pregnancy? That would be really cool 🙂 I know there are some videos already excisting from other coaches and I tried them but it wasn’t as fun as with you.
    If you ever upload such videos I (and I bet a whole bunch of other pregnant women) will very appreciate that!

    T___T I ended up missing a day to a bunch of things happening, so I have to double up on exercises… and it was that 1000 abs day that I missed! That video is murderous but it wasn’t my abdomen that gave out, my legs gave out! I couldn’t keep them up for the last three moves.

    Hey guys! I already did the June Workout Calender and now I wanted to keep going on JUly, but I have a problem in reading the calendar. I dont know if it’s only my problem so now I ask. For my PC the calendar is written way to smal, so if I want to make it bigger it becomes so pixelated, so I also can ready nothing. I also tried do print it but its also too smal to read. Has anybody an iea what I can do?

    Does anybody else talk to Cassie during the workouts!? Haha, I find myself saying, “Seriously, Cassie?!” Lol! I love that I am challenged and when I am consistent I see results and feel STRONGER! I am a Mom of 3 boys (an 8 year old, 2 year old and 11 month old) and was a cardio running bunny trying to loose the baby weight. I wanted to feel strong again. While I still love running, blogilates and Cassie has given me the motivation I needed! I also LOVE Cassie’s positivity! You have a heart of gold and are being a light to this generation, something needed desperately right now! Blessings to you Cassie and thank you!!!! 🙂

      Hi Aimee, I agree. I have a 5 year old and 11 month old too. I enjoy running and I just started blogilates and doing Beginners Calendar. I have never done Core or strength training. I am through 10 days of beginner but I still feel very toned though I didnt lose weight. It really feels good.
      I am working and I try to 30 minutes of Pilates for 5 days and Running for 2 days.
      Do you do entire monthly calendar. Do you have time to do both.

I dont have blue berries even the stores dont have where im from and i want to know if i can replace the blue berries with strawberries or any other fruit. Has anyone tried it before or does it taste better with blue berries?

      You can replace the blueberries. I tried it with raspberries and it worked as well. 🙂

    hey guys im 15 yo 5’4 145 lbs (already lost 25 with eating cleaner and combining calendars with jm 30 day shred) and i’d like to lose 20 lbs. i read few articles that said that you can’t really lose weight with pilates that it’s just getting your core stronger and you are being more flexible with it. it said that you should lift weights and combine it with cardio, but i really like cassey’s monthly calendars and i stick to them, so my question is, can i continue with calendars and possibly lose weight this way or do i need to lift weights? its harder losing weight now after i already lost some, so is doing this now just pointless? i hope you get what im trying to ask you 🙂 thanks

      Hey, there, you can definitely lose that weight with pilates! When I started doing pilates I went down from 145 lbs to 120 lbs, so pretty much to your goal weight. The good thing is that Cassey incorporates both weights and cardio into her calenders, so you definitely get that as well. Also, you can use weights even if Cassey doesn’t in the videos (I do that for many arm moves, but also for butt and abs moves). And finally, if you want to speed up the process you can always add one more cardio video every day or (as I like to do) add a little running routine to your weekly schedule (I do short runs 3 times a week for that extra cardio).

      Not very useful but I wanted to know the answer too :S I get really tired and there’s no way I can do all the exercises at once. I’m doing the July calendar and I wanted to push myself and NOT do the beginners’ calendar. But I’ve been taking breaks in the middle and all and i hope that isn’t wrong. Guys??? What are you supposed to do?

        Hi to the both of you!

        Ideally, I think all the exercises are meant to be completed in one session– since your body has already warmed up/stretched by the first one or two exercises, BUT it’s absolutely okay to take breaks if you need to. 🙂

        This is my first time following the monthly calendar as well and I had to take a break for the last 2 videos of Day One because the cardio exercises killed me and my knees almost gave way by the time I hit the mat. Just keep at it, and you’ll get stronger!

        Well, the thing is that its okay to push yourself a little bit that is where most of the changes will happen . But it is not good to push yourself past your breaking point and your the only one who really knows how far you can go. So what i’m saying is that taking a 30 minute break isn’t the best idea because your muscles will get cold. It would be a better idea to see if you could do the first two videos then take a 10-15 minute break. and make sure to stretch before and after you workout and i would recommend doing the beginners version or the move in less you feel comfortable doing the advanced version.           That’s good advice, thank you 🙂 Also, i wake up super late (I LOVE TO SLEEP <3) and do a couple of exercises and then eat breakfast and then i have to wait a couple of hours before i can exercise again. Then same thing with lunch, then i've got my classes and i kind of lose interest by the end of the day (That's a lot of thens!!!) I guess i just want the easy way out….

        I don’t think there is a wrong way to do the calendar. It may be different for some people based on their endurance and strength. I am pretty new to this too and I can’t do all the exercises at once. I just pick a few videos out of the list to do each day. That’s what my body can handle right now and I still try my best in each video. I hope that as I get stronger I can do more of the daily videos and eventually work up to the point where I can do them all! So, don’t feel bad if you can’t do all the videos at once or if you need to take breaks or do easier variations of some of the exercises. Do what works for you. As long as we are working at it & continuing to improve ourselves, then I think we are doing it right. 🙂

    I don’t know if I’m crazy or what for doing this in the latter half of Ramadan. I finished the 28 day New Beginner’s Calendar before Ramadan started and I had two whole weeks away from exercise. I couldn’t complete all the videos from day 1 because… well, muffintop massacre massacred me and crazy abs, butt, and legs decimated me.
    I give myself a break because I had fasted for 16.5 hours and had eaten 2.5 hours prior to exercising. It’s tough!

        I’m doing it Ramadan too! I find that doing it early in the morning helps, like around 8. Because then you can spend the rest of the day doing other things and usually after or before iftar I cant move or I’m busy helping in the kitchen

      I started with the beginner’s calendar not too long ago, and I highly recommend it! It’s REALLY helpful because Cassey walks you through correct form for the different moves, and tells you how it ought to look and feel, or how to modify a move if you don’t have the strength to do it the right way yet. It’s very important to make sure that you’re not hurting yourself!

    Hey! Can anyone explain to me where to find the videos? Like do you just search for them on the website or youtube? I’m a little confused, I’ve never done one of the calanders before! But I’m excited to start.

      Go to her Youtube account and check playlists. It has all the videos for each day, so you don’t need to read the calendar.

      I love these workouts but the calendar prints so small I can’t read it. Can you save it as a pdf instead? That way I can download it and adjust the size. Or just make it so it properly fits 8.5″x11.5″.

    Thanks to your workouts, I can feel my body slowly starting to sculpt into what I want it to be: perfect posture, sculpted face and back, and toned thighs/legs. That is my sign of motivation and I will continue that! I am really proud to be a POPster otherwise I would not be the person I am today! Thank you Cassey for being an inspirational person.

    Tip: I start off everyday by first thing doing Cassey’s “Quick Cardio Warm Up” that way I have lots of energy for the rest of the workouts on the calendar.

    I’ve been working out with Cassey since November. I’m 44 and I’ve had 5 children so it feels wonderful to get my body back in shape. The only (very small) complaint I have is that sometimes at the beginning of a new month’s calendar she puts on a workout that we just did at the end of the previous month. If it’s a short workout, no big deal, but we just did Muffintop Massacre yesterday on the June calendar. That’s 17 minutes of torture. No way can I do it again today because my obliques are killing me. Other than that, Blogilates has been a godsend.

      Same here. I agree with you. I can do candlestick dippers all day long, but both yesterday and today I got motion sickness doing it with the ballerina arms. Otherwise, I think your great doing it at 44. Don’t stop.

      It’s not good to eat unhealthy right after you workout because your body needs protein to build your muscles after you have torn them down… also, if you do feel the need to eat bad after your workout, eat fruit salad or something with natural sugars. You should be eating of the “rainbow” as they say. Try peanut butter or almond butter on ezekiel bread or whatever if you’re allergic. I hope this has helped. So, in conclusion, yes you should eat healthy 🙂

      I’ve had the same issue, you should display the picture with the original program displays photos on your computer (sorry forgot the name) is it photo viewer?
      So you print it from that program and it’s all good

Sad thing is after doing the 5 mins fat attack video (and the two before this one in the workout calendar), I felt really nauseous and giddy, probably because my period is just ending today =/ so maybe i’ve pushed myself a bit too hard when i’ve not recovered from the period =(

    Hey guy!!!!! So I’ve been trying to lose a bit of weight and get toned up and stuff and when i start out it goes pretty well. I’m exercising and eating healthy- maybe TOO healthy. I mean I eat the absolute essentials and in the smallest amounts but enough to fill me up. This healthy stuff lasts me like 3 days MAX and then i just binge on unhealthy foods and chocolates. This sort of un-motivates me…. UNMOTIVATES??? is that a word? Oh well I mean it discourages me and it takes me a while to get back on track…. Also I get discouraged if i don’t see like INSTANT results…. I KNOW I KNOW it’s pretty pathetic and stuff. I’m not obese or even overweight but i want to tone up and just generally-lead-a-healthier-life sort of thing…… So guys??? Any tips??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE???? <3

      Don’t eat completely clean! You’re depriving yourself those first three days when you eat really well and end with a calorie deficit. So to reward yourself for doing well, you binge!
      Eat one “guilty” food a day. Don’t gorge yourself, just limit the portion. Drink a lot of water to distract you. Don’t buy or keep food that you know is unhealthy and that you’re going to binge on.

Oh and about the binge and stuff is it just me or when i decide to control and be healthy that is the day when we go out to eat or my family gets chocolates in and stuff?? I need that willpower to CONTROL myself. Food is just amazing <3 and because my summer vacation is on, I don't exactly have an excuse to keep moving around….

      I feel you! I live in India. Start off with a video you really like, even if it isn’t on the calendar, even if it’s really easy, like I love to start off with the bodypop dance. Once you start moving everything becomes easier. Even a brisk walk helps., sometimes I walk my dog beforehand.

      Cassey posts a daily playlist in her youtube channel with all of the workouts of that day.
      I (I don’t think anyone does this) make a playlist, for myself, with two bonus videos every day: Quick Cardio Warm Up (I don’t include it if that day’s workout has it) and Relax with Me Strecht Routine. I add them because when I was a beginner I was always sore and decided to start doing the workouts the right way.

      hi, um i think its best to do the beginners calender, finish it and wait for the August calender, otherwise you’ll find the workouts difficult and too much. I also wanted to do that but i decide to do the beginners first so i can get used to the workouts.
