I am in London! Photostory.

I am in London! Photostory.

Hey POPsters!

I am finally in the UK!!! Woohoo. It is so quaint and cute here. Let’s start the London photostory shall we? It begins at SFO International Airport.

I wore my mint Nikes, cooked protein pancakes for the journey, and made sure to have my Bamboo Bottle with me to stay hydrated. For those of you wondering, I brought both my mint and hot pink shoes. I couldn’t choose! Was I seated next to an over-talkative person or a crying baby this time on my trip? Hmm…no in fact…I was seated next to some guy who kept putting his elbow on my arm rest, making my volume go up and down while I was watching my movies. But perhaps the worst part was the fact that there was a crying toddler for about 9 hours of the 11 hour trip. No, not a crying baby. A toddler who was like 3. I tried to drown out the noise with my movies and I was actually able to sleep, so the flight wasn’t as bad as it sounds. But man, I don’t think I’ve ever been on a quiet flight!!! I was so happy when we touched ground!

When I got off the plane, I was sooo tired and unaware of what day it was and what time it was. My head was all messed up and I was exhausted. But I was too excited to be bothered by it! Onwards I went. I took a train then taxi to my apartment (much like a dorm) and then headed over to Google HQ to meet up with some other channels. Here are some of my friends! Clockwise from top, that’s Derrick from Veritasium (makes vids about physics), me, Steve from STRSkillSchool (he was also a Next Trainer), and Elly from Appchat (“girl geek”).

After many orientation presentations and introductions (it was sooo like freshmen college orientation!) we got to go on a Duck Tour! The last time I was on one of these was in Boston. Now, I am going to try REALLY HARD to be accurate with these landmarks.

Here is the London Eye!!! I don’t know if I could go on the Ferris Wheel. It looks too scary. I might die.

I believe this is the Parliament building. I just remember the tour guide telling us to yell “boo” as we passed it.

Red double decker bus! So London!

Just a picturesque scene of a quaint looking intersection. Fabulous architecture.

Boat car turned into a boat.

 Riding on the Thames River.

After the tour, I couldn’t wait to get home, work out, and get groceries. On the tube (or subway) I met a POPster who had been doing my vids for over 2 years! It was so cool – like a warm greeting! I hope to run into more of you guys. Watch out for meetup info. I don’t know when it will happen yet, but it will. I am here for 3 weeks!

Unfortunately the workout didn’t happen because by the time I was settled in it was like 9pm. I did go for a nice stroll to find food though. Check it out!!! A cute mini eggplant!!! It was one of the first things I saw on my food hunt!

And then I was stunned by this weird branch/bark looking thing that was supposed to be a yam. Crazy huh? Yeah. Pic-worthy.

I ended up doing a fun FOOD HAUL video for you all because I was so excited to shop for groceries in the UK. First time ever, so it HAD to be documented. Unfortunately there was a weird problem when I tried to upload it to YouTube, so maybe I can have it up for you some time tomorrow evening. Lots of cute things to look forward to!

I better get to sleep. It’s 3:31am here which means it 7:30pm over in California. Oh whatever. My sleep schedule is messed up anyway. Maybe this will reset it.

More pics and videos to come! I’ll be posting lots of Olympic and London themed workouts for you on Youtube.com/Blogilates – so make sure you’re subscribed!

Hope you are all doing well, love ya!

<3 Cassey

PS – will announce the winners of the TRAIN LIKE A BEAST LOOK LIKE A BEAUTY CONTEST tomorrow as well. Feel free to enter if you have not! Click here to see rules.

    Hey Cassie,

that building is actually Sommerset House (it’s next to my uni!)
And it’s where they sort out tax I think, which might be why you had to say boo 😉

    Have a great time!

That’s not the parliament buildings…they are at westminster…but might be government type stuff, can’t actually remember what that is! Glad you are enjoying London, I lived there for 5 years, too much stuff to do, I really enjoyed just sitting on Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square and watching life go by for a bit.

yam is really high in calories and it grows in Africa, west Africa to be precise, and its one of the regular meals among Nigerians. anyways am your biggest fan here in Nigeria and i think you are doing a fabulous job.

      yay for NIgerian fans!!!!

    Cassey, you’re in London! A-may-zing!

You’ve got to go to Hyde Park and sit in the Rose Garden and walk around the Serpentine. If you want an amazing meal you should go to Galvin at the Windows in the Hilton there. It has the best views. You could get a toptable deal for lunch time and it’d be affordable!

You must go to Borough Market on a Saturday morning – go early because it gets so busy! Get a Monmouth Coffee and if you’re feeling greedy go and grab a yummy cake! Sit in Southwalk Cathedral and enjoy the atmosphere. Then walk along the South Bank all the way down to Waterloo Bridge. There’s so much going on on the South Bank and you’ll see the Globe, the Tate Modern, the Millennium Bridge, the Oxo Tower and the London Eye. There’s a rainbow coloured beach there at the moment!

You should also go for a walk on Hampstead Heath and have a cup of tea at Kenwood House. For real British atmosphere go to The Spaniard Pub.

    Hi Cassey,
It sounds like you are having a wonderful time already. It’s been a while since I went to London so reading your blog(so far) has brought back some old memories. I was wondering if you were there for the Olympics? If so, what events are you going to see?
I’m sorry if you answered this somewhere else in your blog, but I don’t have time to read everything or even go on the computer.
Can’t wait to see more pics and read more about your adventure!

    1. blogilates says:

not sure yet! miss ya veronica!

It’s so weird seeing what other people make of London, I think us English kind of take it for granted! I wish you were there for longer, I’m moving there later this year and would’ve definitely come to a meet up.
The London Eye really isn’t that scary once you’re on it though, the pods are so big and it moves so slowly it’s just like being on the top floor of a building. I went on it a couple of weeks ago and stood in the queue thinking ‘ohmygodohmygodohmygod’, got on it and was fine!

    1. blogilates says:

hmm maybe i should just go then!

Cassey, welcome to London!! The weather couldn’t be better here for your arrival either – you’re lucky, we’ve had weeks of freezing cold weather and rain! I don’t know how much free time you’ll have, but these are some things you should do if you manage to get a spare minute:

    * As mentioned before, visit Harrods food hall for a food haul (see what I did there?!) The stuff is AMAZING. Then go to Laduree in Harrods for a cup of tea and a cake or macaroon, if you’re not worried about eating TOO clean 🙂
    * Go to Selfridges and look at the shoe gallery. Enough said!
    * Have a walk in St James’s Park. There’s often a band playing in the bandstand and some crazy birds around. That’s not British slang, I mean genuine birds.
    * If you miss California too much, go and get a frozen yogurt from Snog near Covent Garden – and then wander round Covent Garden itself and see the street performers.
    * Wander along the Southbank where there’s always heaps going on.
    * Go to the National Gallery and see some paintings. It’s free!
    * Ditto the Victoria & Albert museum. It’s amazing, trust me!
    * Go to Sketch in Mayfair, an absolutely incredible restaurant, for a bit of afternoon tea. Wow, all my suggestions revolve around tea, pretty much!

Anyway, that’s more than enough to get you started! Have a brilliant time, I hope you love London as much as I do! And may I just apologise on behalf of my fellow countrymen and women for the hell that will be the London transport system during the Olympics week. I’M SORRY!

    Amelia xx

    1. blogilates says:

Thanks so much for the suggestions!!

    Welcome to London Cassey!!! 🙂

I’m excited for the olympics! I watched the technical rehearsal of the opening ceremony and it was amazing. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see it! 🙂
and oh, I hope we have the meet up on a weekday as I’m working on weekends 🙁 and O hope I bump into you too somewhere! 😀 Enjoy the rest of your trip!

    I’m sooo happy for you!
Can’t wait for the food haul and more workouts! <33
    Kisses!! :*

Haha I never thought of London as ‘quaint’! You want to visit some villages in the countryside and then talk about quaint!

    Hope to meet you soon.

    Anna

    1. Saima says:

I agree. I think we have some of the most amazing countryside.

  12. Liz says:

The building in the 4th pic is somerset house in case you were wondering…its where hmrc (the taxman) is based

  13. Anna says:

Have a meet up on Friday or this weekend when i’m still there! I’m moving to Brussels next week and going to miss London massively. Also head up to Edinburgh for a weekend if you can. Just over an hour by plane, 4 hours by train (which is a really beautiful trip, the second half at least). If you end up in south Kensington, try the Kensington creperie (sooo good) and also Saf in shoreditch for some raw vegan cheesecake!

  14. awww how fun! It seems like you’re having a grand time in the UK~Everything looks so cute and old~but in a good way! Something socal doesn’t have much of 😛 And that’s a crazzyyyy yam, lol. I thought the one I saw during my honeymoon in Kauai was big! Not so. 😉

  15. Lindsey says:

    Welcome to England!

Funny that you describe London as quaint – I think it’s so big and busy compared to out here in the countryside!

  16. Agnes says:

Enjoy London and i hope to bump into you while you here:)

  17. Becky says:

I don’t know what part of London you’re staying in, but when I was there last year we were in the South Kensington neighborhood. We had the best tiramisu EVER when we were there. If you get a chance, it’s about a 5 minute walk from the South Kensington station (Circle, District, or Picadilly Line can get you there). I’m 95% sure (thanks to street view on google maps) that it’s called Cacciari’s, at 82 Old Brompton Road. Also, if you’re looking for food suggestions – ask the cabbies and the tour bus guides, they always know what’s good in the area. And if you’re in the Trafalgar Square area at all, check out the World’s Smallest Police Station http://0.tqn.com/d/golondon/1/0/1/d/-/-/policelanterntrafalgarsquare.jpg Just enough room for one guy, and only contained mops when I was there 🙂 Have a great time, can’t wait to see more photos and hear about your adventures!

  18. CP says:

Love that you get to go there for the olympics!! Amazing!! And you got a beautiful clear blue sky day! – very rare I’m glad you got pics! Go to the food hall in harrods – so fun! Looking forward to the olympic-themed workouts 🙂

  19. Luci says:

Just got back from London and loved it! Have a great time 🙂

  20. Emily says:

Ugh, I am so sorry you were on a plane with a screaming toddler! I cannot stand the sound of barking dogs and screaming children. They are two things that just burrow into my brain and wish for temporary deafness. How awesome you are there though! I am glad you got to take a tour. I love all of the old architecture. Its sooo beautiful. I bet you feel so lucky right now. I look forward to the food haul video! Do you have to share a room like an actual dorm? I hope you have some time to work out tomorrow. Get some sleep tonight! I am so jealous of all the fun you are going to be having!

  21. Tara says:

    Sounds like a wonderful day!
I was just studying abroad there last year, and it’s nice to see the familiar pictures 🙂
    Have fun,
