Finding Inspiration & Motivation

Finding Inspiration & Motivation

Hey POPsters!

I’m sitting on my bed, it’s 2:53am and I’ve been trying to figure out what in the world I am supposed to write. I took a long nap this afternoon (not normal for me) and then woke up at 11:30pm.

Don’t you hate when that happens? Now my sleep sched is all messed up – wait, it’s always been messed up, maybe this will reset it. But you know what, you have to learn how to listen to your body. If you’re tired and you just need rest, rest. I didn’t work out today. Sleep is good. This is something I am continually trying to teach myself. I really like to work and keep doing things and I always try to dig into my sleep hours to get more and more done. But I’m starting to feel and see the drawbacks.

I’ve been in LA for about 4 months now and I thought that after being down here I’d have more time and space to be creative. But I just find myself wrapped up in so many meetings and extra projects that take time away from my YouTube channel. This makes me sad because creating videos for you guys helps me connect to you. I love sharing recipe videos, new workouts, and vlogs from time to time but I find myself to tired lately. Worn out from social abrasion.

Do you know why I love writing in the wee hours? Because all I can hear are my fingernails tapping the buttons of my keyboard. It’s peaceful. There’s space for my mind to relax and think and be creative. No one is calling. Emailing. Texting. Talking. It’s just me. And you.

It’s so quiet right now. I just took a few minutes to take in the silence. It’s beautiful.

Do you ever get stuck, wondering what you’re supposed to do, how to find happiness, what’s your purpose in life? Sometimes our day to day activities muddle us up and keep us so busy that it’s hard to lift our heads and see the horizon.

When this happens, seek space. It doesn’t even matter if you have a plan or not, but when you give yourself space to just be – this is when you can truly breathe and get to know yourself again. I think it’s really important to know you and what you stand for, so that when you feel lost in a crowd, you can stand strong, unwavering.

I like solitude sometimes. I really do enjoy it. And you know what? I find that I am not alone. I read some articles that mentioned how YouTubers actually are very introverted people. Some of your most highly subscribed vloggers were even high school outcasts! I have an introverted and extroverted side to me and both need to be tended to! For example, I need to be teaching classes every week or else I start to feel lost! I love instructing and I love talking to people. Meet ups are the best and leave me so energized! But of course there are days when I really need to just be by myself. Cook alone. Shop alone. Clean alone. You know, embrace the serenity of solitude. If one or the other are neglected, I can start to get agitated and it’s no good :-/

So anyway, after I find my balance again it’s time to ignite the flame and find the motivation to power on! How do I do that? I surround myself with inspirational people because you know what? Energy, especially good energy, is infectious!!! I can find motivation by taking a new class at the gym, by training with a new workout partner, or even just talking to a friend on the phone. If no one is around, I find Instagram and Facebook to be pretty motivational! I look at you guys and what you’re doing to make a change. YOU rev me up. YOU inspire me!

It’s hard sometimes though when you reeeeaaallllly just can’t get out of bed. You realllllllllyyyyy can’t put on your shoes. That feeling comes from stagnation. You’ve got to just get up and make the first move. Once you’re rolling, you won’t regret it. I promise. Unless you’re sick, exhausted, or hungry – GO. JUST GO. It will make you feel better.

Trust me.

So just to recap, here’s how I find inspiration and motivation to keep going:

1. Allow space. Solitude. Get away from the chaos.

2. Take a new class or train with someone new! Even seek motivation in social media!

3. Just get up and do it. Get the ball rolling.

The past couple weeks have been sooooooo bad for me in terms of working out and eating right. I will admit it! I am not perfect all the time. I’ve told you before, travel really messes me up and it gets frustrating. You know? If I’m at home, my meals are prepped, I’m buying the right food, and I have a set time to go to the gym. On trips? It’s meetings back to back, lunch meeting, more meetings back to back, and the of course, you guessed it, dinner meetings. By the time I get back to the hotel, I’m tired. So I choose sleep.

Yeah, I felt “guilty” about it because goodness, what I do is based on eating right and working out and who am I if I can’t even do that!?

I am a human being. I must remember. A mistake isn’t really a mistake if you can learn from it and use it to be resilient.

So where am I now? I am in the beginning stages of resilience-mode. I’m prepping myself to get back on track! Its been too long and I miss the high I used to get from intense HIIT and lifting routines followed by crazy cardio. I miss cooking and baking. I miss vlogging and filming. I miss drawing and designing. I miss writing. I miss these things that I used to do all the time before everything else started to ask so much of me. Things that took me away from my core and what makes me happy.

So today, I begin anew. I will seek time for myself and what I love. I will focus on my goals and make them happen. Forget the ruckus going on around me. I must listen to my heart, listen to my soul, and feed it.

For you, I ask you to look into your heart and find what you truly believe in. What makes you smile. Do more of it. If there are any negative people around you, take them out of your life. If you can’t, then surround yourself with more positive people, then the negative Nancy’s will get smaller and smaller. You’ve got to create a nurturing environment for yourself to grow. It’s gotta be a place where you feel safe to open up your mind and you heart.

Okay. This blog post is for you and me. Let’s get on track. Let’s move on. Forget those things you did that you shouldn’t have done and step forward. Start now. Success here on out.

<3 Cassey

Actually, I am really scared. I don’t want life “to randomly kick you into the adult you don’t want to become”.

  2. Lily Wendy says:

Finding inspiration can be difficult. But I have found that the best way to find inspiration in life is through the core values for inspired living: opportunity, prosperity, respect, attitude, and happiness.

  3. Tatiana says:

I came across your video on YouTube today and already I am so inspired by you and your uplifting attitude. Your personality is what captured my attention and the work out is intense. Can’t wait to see the results.

  4. GazD says:

Cassey such a great post. On the way home in the train I normally look at blogs because some blogs really uplift me, and I must say I really enjoy reading yours. You have a great talent for inspiring people. Every day I say thank you to someone and today my gratification goes to you Cassey, THANK YOU

  5. Ok, so I am a few days late to this post, but that is a good thing because I am going through something similar at this exact moment and it really hit home. Thanks for opening up and sharing this, because it reminds me I’m not alone. I need to get back to my roots and back to the things I absolutely love to do .. and just do it. I also need to take my alone time, as alone time – not catching up on everything else.
So again, thank you for sharing this!

  6. Sabine says:

I appreciate it so so much that you also share your lows with us! You are always so powerful and energetic and this post reminds me, that even such a strong person like you can struggle sometimes in terms of motivation. That really helps me not being so hard on me when I don’t get to do some of your videos sometimes.
And telling us about your self-doubt and being so honest makes you appear even stronger in my eyes. You are such an inspiration Cassey and the reason I can get my butt off the couch and exercise more than I did in my whole life. Keep it up gal!

    Much love from Germany <3

  7. Cassey, this is why I love you. Yes, you’re very focused on eating clean, fitness, getting toned, etc. because that’s your mission in life and what you love to teach! And that’s awesome. But at the heart of things, you’re really about helping people be happy and accepting of themselves. I love your honesty about being human and how you always remind us to rest when we need to, that taking care of ourselves goes beyond what we eat and what workouts we do. Of course those parts are important – but cultivating self-love, peacefulness, and joy is just as important. Thank you for always being so kind, helpful, and honest with us. It’s a big part of what’s changing my life through Blogilates. <3

You are such an inspiration, Cassey! It’s like you read my mind, I’ve been going through such a lack of motivation lately. Thank you!!! <3

thank you so much for writing this, cassey! exactly what I needed right now. full of inspiration and motivation to get back on track again. thanks for being awesome 🙂

I completely understand how you’re feeling. I’m a senior in high school and I’m getting the infamous “senioritis”. I used to love going to school, learning, and being social but now I just want to sit at home and watch Netflix. Even the sport I’m most passionate about- track- isn’t the same. I no longer have that fire I used to fuel my self. I’m glad someone whom I admire knows how I feel. I hope that we can both get through this rut! Thanks as always Cassey

  11. Jen says:

    Hi Cassey!

This post could not have come at a more perfect time. Being in college is so taxing of my energy and time. It’s hard to do the things you love to do when there are papers and tests and homework assignments and sorority meetings and group projects to work on when all I really want to do is paint, read a book, write a journal entry, or just breathe and figure out what I want. It’s chaotic! Your post has inspired me to stop making excuses about there not being enough time, and just make time. Get off my phone, get off pinterest and facebook and do something that I enjoy. I’m so glad that you’re starting to get back on track! Love you!

  12. Tiffany says:

Hey Cassey, I really appreciate that you are so candid in your blog! You are right, there really is so much value in solitude. Just being alone and connecting with yourself and thoughts. Don’t feel bad about getting off track. All of us need to stop and refocus sometimes, and the busier you are, the more refocusing you have to do! Thanks for setting such a great example on how to live a fulfilling life. Your honesty is so refreshing!

Thank you so much for this post! I haven’t been able to do the things I love for a couple of months now.im getting my masters at lightning speed and everything else is taking a back burner to it. My family, my friends, my exercise and diet. School is so mentally exhausting I find myself eating poorly and hating myself for it.i know it is temporary and I’m beginning to see an end to my schooling. I am so glad I found your blog.i do your videos when I can and am so grateful for them.i am truly glad that I’m not the only one out there. Love ya! Jess

  14. Melanie says:

Loved the whole thing, but that last paragraph was SO right on. “What makes you smile. Do more of it.”

So simple and so true. I especially needed to hear that.
You’ll get back on the ball Cassey; I’m proud of you! Thanks for spreading YOUR inspiration! 🙂

  15. Anouk says:

Cassey can you secretly read minds? Because this was exactly what i needed to hear! Putting on my shoes, grabbing my roommate and we’re gonna work out in our little garden! Bikini blaster 1 here i coooooome aaaahhhhrrrrrr!

  16. Ellen says:

Hi Cassey & off course hey POPsters,

I’m from Belgium so excuse me if my English is not so good. Sometimes it’s hard for me to find the motivation because the workouts are killing me (LOVE it, I do!) but like today, I did the Victoria Secret Abb Workout and I just couldn’t push my shoulders of the ground.. So I felt I was kind of ‘rolling’ on my mat without making any progress.. Those are some moments I got a bit stuck and lose my motivation. But than you have to look at the good side and realize I really have the intention to work hard, to show commitment and to eat clean. I wouldn’t be ‘rolling’ there if I didn’t care.. And I DO CARE about my health and my fitness! I live in a student-home (I’m 20) and there are a lot of temptations to eat sweets and chips and greasy food, but I don’t. It’s sometimes hard, for example yesterday when we watched a movie and my friends were eating a HUGE pack of chips. I could resist it, and you know why? Because it’s worth it.

No matter how slow you are, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch!

    Love and keep going ladies!

  17. Mariecar Liu says:

awwww Cassey! your blog is really inspirational for me. Well, let me tell you.
My girlfriend and I broke up 2 weeks ago and I cant stop crying.. I always think that I cant go on with her.
As I read your blog, tears really did fell on my cheeks cause I feel that I can do things alone. I am what I am and I need to love myself..I need to give myself some SPACE. for me this is your most beautiful blog and whenever I feel lonely, I will read this over and over again. You and us (your subscibers/fans) gives inspiration to each other. You’re the best Cassey!

  18. Patricia says:

Casey, a beautiful post just for me. Your advice to do more of what is in my heart and what I truly believe in and what makes me smile, is what I need to do.
A bit more tricky is the ridding the negative people from me…unfortunately they surround me at my work and while I do try to block them out, it’s positive people and posts like this that go a long way to creating that nurturing environment for me. I do feel safe here 🙂 Thank you.

  19. Alexa Buerger says:

Wow Cassey, that was the most perfect thing for me to read right now 🙂 I love that you are so bold and honest with others AND with yourself, and it has a truly positive impact on us popsters! Thank you for this post, it makes a world of a difference to me! Stay motivated, you got this! Thank you :

  20. Aleksandra says:

After about two months of eating clean and working out just about every day, I realized that for the past two weeks I began to slack off. I went back to eating a bunch of foods that I know I shouldn’t be eating so often. Getting up and working out is becoming harder but I push myself to get it done. Once I do, I feel so much better about myself. Now, I just need to get back on track with my eating habits. You posting this couldn’t have been at a better time. Thank you Cassey!!

  21. Kelly M says:

Cassey, I feel exactly the same way. I LOVE to workout and eating clean get’s me so excited, but I have been slacking a little, but I am beyond ready to get back on track (which is exactly what I did today). I’m back on your meal plan and I feel confident and great about it. You inspire me. You do an incredible thing and touch so many different people. You are my role model. Keep up the BUTT-KICKING stuff ya do, girl!

    xoxo
    Kelly

  22. Victoria says:

Hey Cassey! I am writing to you because I really admire your lifestyle and your willpower and personality inspire me so much. At the same time as you definitely seem like the ultimate super-woman, you show a human side to you that makes me relate to you even more, leading to my two questions about things I would like to not admit, but still ask for help with:
    1. This one explains the second question.. hehe. I was on vacation this weekend and ate horrible! Such poor decisions diet-wise, especially after being really good on my diet the previous weeks 🙁 However, I am home now and opposite to what I usually feel, I still kinda feel like eating the way I did this weekend. Obviously I won’t, but do you have any detox-tips for restarting and feeling “clean” again? I’m having this nasty “might as well give up” feeling diet-wise that ruins all my hard work at the gym as well as my previous progress!!!
    2. With the previous weekend in mind, I’m going on a little diet to go back to normal (or feel, I probably haven’t gained that much) and I have no problem at all eating healthy food. However, I will get serious sugar-cravings that are so hard to fight back on. What is your ultimate solution to those nasty cravings? Especially when dieting…..?

  23. Michelle says:

Thanks for your honesty here, it’s refreshing when fitness gurus or movie stars with amazing bodies, etc admit how difficult it is at times to keep on the ball with healthy eating and working out. Thanks to you, I have FINALLY gotten on the ball! I started an intensive accelerated nursing program last fall, and to my dismay packed on about 10 lbs during first semester. I’m tall and was thin to begin with, but I knew my weight was higher than it should be. I was using food as an evasive technique to not face the music and do my homework, etc. It was a major comfort measure! I checked out your 90 day plan and, while I’m not following to a T anymore, I loosely base my diet off the calorie counts and snacks, etc. I’m also doing your work outs 2-3 times a week interspersed with long outdoor runs and bike rides on other days. Cassie, I am FINALLY reversing the gain….something I was beginning to not believe could happen. I think it’s because of your motivation, your vids, your exemplary positive attitude….I am just grateful I happened onto this site and got things turned around. Also, I have extra motivation….bought that mint cut-out maxi dress from your shopilates store….just a bit more tightening and it will look killer!! Chin up, girlfriend, good luck getting back on track. OH! And one more thing, not only does my body feel and look way better….but I find being on your plan frees my mind from stressing about my weight, and I’ve been able to focus on other self improvements. For example, I’ve noticed I’ve become somewhat dishonest and gossipy. I always mean well, but I love to dish to a hurtful extent at times. I’m working more on honesty and integrity now….things that- when my weight was all I could worry about- I scarcely recognized I had a problem with.

    !!Thanks for being you!! 🙂
    -Michelle

    Hi!
I just had a terrible day…thank you for this post, it was exactly what I needed.

    Love,
    Martina

  25. Hanna says:

Thank you SO so much for this post. Like a lot of people that have commented, I’m also feeling exceptionally overwhelmed and distracted. It’s made me lose sight of the things I enjoy doing, which also happen to be GOOD for me.

Let’s turn over a new leaf, everyone 🙂 today is day 1 all over for me!

  26. Angie says:

I’ve never posted on here before, but today your words went straight to my heart. Over the last year I’ve felt lost and upset and like everything has become a struggle. I’ve been constantly struggling to keep my head above water and I’m always stressed about money. I’ve been working jobs that don’t make me happy and constantly doing ‘what needs to be done’ for everyone else and not what needs to be done for me. It has given me near constant anxiety and I feel like I’m not the person I want to be anymore. After reading this I am just that much more determined to try to make healthy changes. I have been following your videos for the last 5 months and I love them! Now the lifestyle changes need to follow. Thank you, Cassey. It’s nice to hear that even your life isn’t always perfect…stay strong! =)

  27. Sonia says:

Good for you Cassey! It feels so good to get “back to basics”. The places you’re most happy at. Those are the places people shine the brightest.

  28. Kimberly says:

Just found out I was expecting and want to continue to be a Popster and enjoy working out, Cassey or anyone, which videos do you recommend? Are there some not Pop-Pilates related you recommend? I still want to keep in shape throughought my pregnancy as I have up until this point.

Oh boy do have an all new motivation to keep in shape and hopefully I can share my story with you all post pregnancy!!!

    Thanks!

  29. Maria says:

Cassey thank you. It is it hel me. you aren’t my personal trainer only you a re my guru. I love you.

  30. Carla says:

    Hi Cassey,

Thank you for your post. It makes me realise that it’s normal to feel low at times – I used to think you were a person that was just motivated 24/7 and this made me feel awful that I wasn’t like that too. We cannot be high all the time because life doesn’t work in that way. Sometimes the low feeling kicks you into gear to start making a change. I’ve been feeling low on motivation too recently. It’s easy for this to happen. It started about 6 weeks ago. I had been doing your workouts solidly from the beginning of january and then when it hit march I missed a chunk because I travelled home to see my family and then whilst I was home I missed several chunks and ever since I didn’t get back on track with it – I’d do two of your workouts each week and then some weeks I’d have no motivation to do any because I kept on thinking ‘I can’t keep up with it’. Now I feel that it is the time to start over. 🙂 I’m going to set my goals a little lower this time- I always think I’ve failed and then I quit when I can’t keep up to my goals. My previous goal was to do your full workout calendar every month continuously. This time it’s going to be to do 2-3 days out of your workout calendar each week for one month. Once that’s over I can plan to progress a little if I feel I have the time to do more. I don’t want to set myself up for failure!
My goal – to be fitter, stronger, more flexible, healthier, happier.

  31. beautyblogxx says:

omg Cassey, you are a true inspiration for me. I love to be one for you to !
Take your time and find yourself back, because you’re such a wonderfull person and I don’t want to see you unhappy. ‘Cause your smile makes me smile, everyday !
April’s calender didn’t went very well every week, the last 2 days I work as hard as I can and finish it worh proud. But, May. Watch out, I’m gonna kill may ! Kill my muscles, kill te workouts, I’m gonna train like a beast to look like a beauty.
Let’s do this popsters, May will become our new start.

  32. Hannah says:

I just wanted to say that you’re lovely person (although I’ve never met you) and the best fitness instructor I’ve have known!

    1. teilzeitDAU says:

      i second that!! 🙂

  33. Heather says:

Cassie, this is exactly what I needed to hear.
I feel I am in the same place as you, caught up in the day-to-day and lacking motivation to do the things I really enjoy in life. THANK YOU for this. Much, much appreciated 🙂
    <33

  34. GaryD says:

Cassey, I think I was meant to find you today. Just bit of a “flat” start really and I can’t quite put my finger on why or what it is. So you bit of inspiration to wipe off the sweat and keep on going was just what I needed. Sometimes we do have to listen to our bodies and what they’re telling us and other times we need to take some time out and listen; be still; get grounded again.

Thank you for a lovely post – I really enjoyed it 🙂

  35. Grace Bartosch says:

    This was so helpful.
I havent skipped a day of working out in like 5 weeks…..not one day. I workout 2 hours everyday.. But today I played soccer with my friends for like 30 minutes on an empty stomach and i was dizzy and tired, then came home and ran for another 20 minutes and I just decided to skip Pilates and HIIT cardio/pilates and I got in the shower and I could only regret skipping… knowing if i would have kept going i would have lost extra weight since i didn’t eat anything……. then I read this… This is my rest day.(meaning just sticking with cardio) …. but I feel better now knowing rest is good for your body. Thank you so much. My life is just attacking me with working out, work, school, shows(musician), and family…. But than you so much for this Cassey… You have helped me so much. I am NO WHERE near the same person i was last year!! THANK YOU! Praying for you<3

  36. Karen says:

Thank you! I really needed this post. It is coming at such a good time for me. I just feel like my self esteem is dropping and my motivation for working out is kinda decreasing. So this really connected with me and will make me hit it hard and get back to where I want to be. I’m that much
More motivated now to get back on track.

    Love you!!!

  37. Joanne says:

Cassey…I’ve been waiting to hear words like these for a long time. I needed this moving 2,000 miles away from my real home i feel alone and lost. Before the move i was always active, lost 30 lbs and watched your videos every day. After, everything seemed to change and i lost my physique. But i guess you do just have to keep moving no matter what, or else you wont get anywhere. Hopefully ill listen to your words. Really, great post.

  38. Katy says:

Thanks so much for this post. It came at just the right time for me, too. I got off track a few weeks ago after doing great since January (eating clean, and working out like crazy!) I started getting run down and ended up at the doctor to find out the reason I felt so run down is because I’m anemic. That was the reason I was napping and craving so much food (like cheeseburgers!!!)

But aside from that, I’ve also been feeling that need to find some purpose or wondering what I’m supposed to be doing with my life. Looks like from the comments I’m not alone in all this! I also love the reminder to surround yourself with inspirational people. Definitely a very timely for me and something I really need to work on.

Despite all this, I’ve still been doing your videos every day and they are truly something I look forward to and my body craves them!!! You are really a great motivation and I’m so glad I stumbled across your videos back in January! :))

  39. Elena says:

This post came at the perfect time for me. I found your blog in January and was doing your videos and making your recipes every single day. I was feeling great and had a good schedule going and I would do your videos between classes and get excited about your recipes and go grocery shopping for clean food. I was on top of things and I loved it. But this was the first month that I didn’t print the workout calendar 🙁 This whole month I’ve been eating fast food instead of clean food. I’ve been so stressed and depressed that I hadn’t even been thinking about healthy living and I realized that all the junk food and lack of exercise has even made me feel worse. I craze structure in my life and one day my strict schedule got messed up and I’ve been off track ever since. Now after I read your post I feel enough motivation to just do one video! Then I’ll see what happens after that. I just need to get the ball rolling again 🙂

  40. Gina says:

i can’t just read your entries and not write down here, i was just feeling this way, actually am since i started college, feeling that it eats me up, makes me feel exhausted and tired.
And when i get home, despite I have tons of homework to do i always choose taking a nap, and doing some of your videos, you just cheer me up so much! Make me feel great about myself and forget about college for a while, and then maybe meeting people that makes me happy, this way when night comes and i have to put myself to work, i feel good, because i spent some time just focusing on myself.

Just needed to share this here, i guess its what Popster-feeling does, make us feel like we are home and can share our feelings,
You rock, Cassie, i couldn’t be happier that i found out about you last september!

  41. Polska Blondynka says:

This post really makes me happy because it shows that everyone, even you, get off track. I don’t feel so bad anymore if I miss a day of workout or get off track from my normal eating habits with a slice of chocolate cake.

  42. Citra says:

This is exactly what I needed! These past couple weeks I haven’t been eating right and as a result, I’ve gained a couple kilos. I’ve been stressed and I’ve been totally consumed by my studies, work, and relationships. It’s almost as if my normal daily routine has been thrown out the window. I haven’t felt true to myself in months. But now since you’ve said all of this, you’ve really motivated me to move on from all of the things I shouldn’t have done, and get back on the right track.
Thank you sooooooo much Cassey!! I really appreciate your consideration towards all of us popsters, and I feel like you’re the big sister I never had 😀 <3

  43. Ruby says:

You always seem to say the right thing when I need to hear it! This past week I was pretty lax on my workout and eating plan…somehow I still managed to drop 2 pounds…so maybe I needed a rest! Then Again I did get married this week. (No biggie ceremony or anything just a quiet courthouse thing) But anyhow Im starting to feel discombobulated and in need of my work out highs.I’ve started to hit stagnation where I don’t have the motivation, even though I look in the mirror and love that I’ve lost 25 pounds so far this year. I can’t let myself veer from my goals just because I am the most comfortable I’ve been with myself in years. Today is the day I get back to it and work my couch 2 5k routine at the gym and walk beyond and hit up my POP Pilates calendar hard tomorrow. Cassey and fellow POPsters you give me so much inspiration and let me know that it’s ok to fall behind from time to time! <3 to you all!!!

    1. Chacha says:

Hello Cassey! Nice to meet you! 🙂 My name is Chara but people call me Chacha :P! ( ridiculious.. :P)
In fact, i’m a new at the Blogilates Community.. But I always do your workouts before and I alwaaaaays love it :D! So..well, i’m new, and i’m French girl who is very verrrryy scared to speak with other guys, whereas I want to meet new friends, and do the workouts with sb sometimes! I don’t have Facebook.. or Twitter.. ( yes I can survive :P! )
Finally, I love your workouts sooooo muchhhhhhhh! CONTINUE!!!! And, if I can say something.. It’s just a advice.. If you can do more videos about eat clean please.. If you have time!!!
      Take Care!

      XOXOXO!

  44. Lynn says:

What a positive, inspirational post! You bring a smile to my face!

  45. Natasha says:

Cassey you are really wonderful 🙂 reading that has motivated me so much to not only stay strong and dedicated to working out and eating clean (I do get discouraged every once in a while when I don’t see results 🙁 i should probably take progression pictures haha) but also to my school work. Right now I’m working to get the grades to go to university and I am so stressed because it’s so important for me and I have no clue what I’ll do if I don’t succeed. But your workouts really help me to de-stress me and energize me! 🙂 so thank youuu <3

  46. Katie says:

All I can say is thank you so, so much Cassey. It’s not easy to admit defeat, but to hear that even some of the strongest health advocates like you can lose their motivation at times makes your thousands of followers relate to you even more. I was tearing up while reading this as even I have considerably fallen into a pit this week. I felt like I lost myself as I was always revving and never giving myself time to focus on me. You’re right. It’s time to get in the zone, specifically to focus on myself. You are one of the greatest inspirations Cassey. Thank you for everything that you do.

  47. Ann says:

Thank you about this post , Cassey! Your motivational posts are always super insipiring for me and the pull me up, when I’m down. And somehow they always come at the right time. 2 Months ago, my “best friend” went to southkorea for an exchange year. I never liked that idea but i supported her because she was my best friend! But when the time came that he had to go, she ignored me and was very rude to me. And when she was gone it got even worse, she didn’t respond my emails and completly ignored me. To be honest, she treated me like shit. And that was when I changed my lifestyle and became healthy.
The last two days I read things on her blog that made me feel sick, disgusting and sad and I realized that this destroys me somehow and I need to do something! And your post really helped me because I will go away from what takes me down and stand for myself! If she gives nothing, I’ll have to stop this!
Thank you very much for this inspirational post, it’s really helpful!

  48. Kat says:

I totally get where you’re coming from, and as is so often the case this post was exactly what I needed to read. I feel like I’ve been in a rut for the last few weeks, and can physically feel my negativity pulling me down and totally sapping my energy – but no more! I resolve to kick-start my life again, eat cleaner than ever, train harder than ever, and mostly train my mind to focus on good, positive things. Thanks Cassey, as always your spirit and drive inspires us all! <3<3

  49. Kelly says:

Oh Cassey you make me smile 🙂

  50. Ren says:

I’m a lot like you Casey, always go go going. Sometimes I seriously think my spirit animal is a busy little bumble bee! Hahaha. This past month I promised myself that I would take 10 minutes everyday to meditate. Whether it be a guided meditation video on youtube, or just pausing to focus on breathing and not on the deadlines and busy schedules. It’s really helped me stay calm focused and not feel stretched so thin. The youtube channel “releaseyourwings” has some good short meditation, I like the one of mindfulness a lot. <3 Love you!

  51. Courtney says:

WOW! this is JUST what I needed Cassey! I have been in a slump because of a hip injury. I am a runner so that pretty much made my workouts Kaput! So its been almost a year since I haven’t been able to run my races or do any sort of cardio..I do dabble a little bit and I have a trainer but its nothing like I used to be. So when I saw your website I got excited. I have been doing your videos but I have been feeling pretty down lately and I am glad you post this. Your cheerful self and great workouts always leave me sweating and feel like I used to when I ran 5+ miles back in the day. I just want you to say your words today were a blessing to me and your workouts rock! Thanks again Cassey!

  52. MiinaMarie says:

You said it, man! Oh you!
So much so that there’s not really anything to comment on – just agree with.
The only thing it sparked me to say was a few sayings I learned on the weight watchers forums/or elsewhere:
BAM – Bite, Accept, Move-on (when regretting what you’ve eaten – if it’s bad, or you’re feeling guilty – tomorrow’s another day and heck, later today is a different time that this morning, pick back up dust yourself off and there you go!)
BLT – this is one when writing down or ‘calculating’ what you’ve taken in/have eaten. Include every ‘BLT’ – Bite,Lick,Taste – to be 100% honest and accurate with your journal and yourself, because you’re only lying to yourself if you don’t include it – and when you look back to reference it one day – you may not remember and wonder why you didn’t lose weight that week.
And lastly – “if you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you’ve always got!” IE – if you eat garbage like you always have – you’ll never be the healthy trim gal/guy you want to be! – if you don’t do blogilates and are sedentary like you have been before, you can expect no toned muscles and no bikini bod this Summer!

    You rock, Cassie.

  53. Nicole says:

Aw Cassey, thank you! I’ve been so off track lately. It’s hard, especially during times of confusion. I’m trying to shoot for recovery but it’s hard to not fall into a relapse. Thanks for making me feel tons better about myself. You’re the best form of inspiration. Love you!

  54. Amy says:

I have been feeling exactly the same lately. I’ve had exams for two weeks so I didn’t get much exercise done, then my body was so just exhausted I had another week of minimal exercise. Then i get stressed because I want to blog about these things but I feel like I’ve been failing at them! I’ve come to a similar conclusion, I’m not super woman – there is only so much I can do in a day. However when I have time to exercise, I need to not stress about it and just do it! I love it when I don’t over think things and am not thinking negatively about myself!

  55. Alexis says:

I swear it is like you read my mind!!!! I have been sick for the past week, and the week or so before that, I was just downright overwhelmed with school and work. But now that my exams are over and I am starting to feel better, it is time to back to loving to exercise (with you of course!) This girl has a beach bod to restore.

    Love you!!

  56. Tiffany says:

I had to refocus this week because I just got over a serious case of strep throat. obviously couldn’t work out, and subconsciously decided not to eat well. but I’m back on track, three days of eating clean, two days of working out down! 🙂

  57. kathy says:

enjoyed reading this…you are wonderful! keep up the great job cassey…you inspire me :))

  58. Cordelia says:

Totally needed this! Thank you so much!

  59. F says:

Thank you so much Cassey, you inspire me every time.

  60. Sydney says:

It makes me feel better that even fitness people like you go off track sometimes. The past 2 weeks I have been keeping up with my exercise routine but my eating habits are not the greatest. My Mum has been on a trip for the past week so my dad has been getting us dinner from restaurants as he is not much of a chef, haha! As of Tuesday my Mum will be settled at home again so I should be officially eating healthier meals instead of fast food for dinner. Thanks for this post!

  61. Diana says:

I completely understand how you feel. Lately, i have gotten stuck thinking what I am supposed to do and how I can ever be happy. I go to school and spend all my time studying and preparing for tests and if things go the way they’re planned I’ll be doing that for a fairly long time, because I have high hopes of going to medical school. And many nights I just want to cry because all I do is study sometimes and I just wonder when in my life I will get to do things I actually enjoy. I work out with you everyday and of course that is a GREAT part of my day, but I LOVE cooking and I LOVE dancing and since graduating highschool I haven’t danced even though I have danced for my whole life. I really liked all that you said and I just wanted to say I understand. Sometimes we just get so busy that we don’t realize that we may not even be happy…
Nonetheless, you bring happiness to my life
    thank you:)

  62. Kristin A says:

This couldn’t have been posted at a better time. We love you Cassey! You go girl, we’re all just inspiring each other to be better and many thanks goes to you for it 🙂

  63. Sandy says:

<3 Thank you so much Cassey! I was exactly there, letting the hassles of daily life overwhelm me. I'm gonna start afresh as well, with you and so many other POPsters! This week even if I worked out I felt guilty to not be able to resist to that little sweet thing you crave for in front of a movie at night….I just couldn't! It makes you feel so good on the moment but later you start regretting it and it is NOT GOOD!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Knowing than someone like you feels low sometimes helps us feel normal and human as well!

  64. Elina says:

Such an inspirational post, and I agree, resting is the thing when you really need it! I’m sick right now and I can’t workout and I feel so saggy, but I’m constantly telling myself that I can’t because I truly need to rest and get my sickness cured. I have a dancing show coming up tomorrow and it’s not nice to go there and cough and sneeze all breaks long, but I won’t jump around in between my dances too much so I don’t get myocarditis or anything like that! D:

  65. Ayra says:

I find so much inspritation in you and your videos and you were also a first person who ispired me to live healthy 🙂 it’s fine to be off track we can still go back…I also have this problem…especially because I have problems with tendon…and from time to time I have to force myself not to workout….another time I have to force myself to workout…you’re awesome Cassey 🙂

  66. Crystal says:

As kerli, totally agree Cassey! Also, when will you will be putting up your may calendar? It will be my first time trying but excited and scared to try it. Been doing your beginner videos for a while now but I think I am ready for the calendar. Looking forward to see the may calendar!

  67. Michelle says:

Casey, this blog post was exactly what I needed to read on this overcast afternoon. I know how you feel, with no time to do what you love and what makes you happy, you just can’t be the joyful, energized human being you are meant to be. School has gotten incredibly busy lately and it’s hard to find time to workout, see friends, bake, read, and do all those other things I love. But this post not only showed me that I’m not alone in feeling this way, but also reminded me that I am only human; sometimes I will need a break from the world’s demands, and it’s not weakness to take a break…so thank you Cassey, for caring so much about all of us POPsters, and for being my daily inspiration.

  68. I like your philosophy. Welcome to LA! What part of town are you in? I live in the South Bay and love it here. If you ever want some tips on places in the area, let me know.

  69. Paige L. says:

I found so much inspiration in your words, Cassey! I’ve been feeling like I’m in a funk lately, so I identified with this entry.

  70. melissa says:

This inspired me to go workout today. I really wasn’t feelin’ it, but I read this and KNEW I should. Thank you!

  71. Chelsea says:

This post is one of reasons love this blog so much, Cassey! We’ve all got these times we go through, but part of what is always helpful to me is seeing people I admire (like you!!) going through the same thing and coming out stronger! So thanks for posts like this and for Blogilates, and for being so real and amazing. 😀

  72. Chelsea says:

This is so amazing Cassey. Its posts like this that make me love your blog more than anything! We’ve all got those times – I’m going through a plateau right now with my weight loss, which couldn’t be more frustrating – but part of what always helps is seeing the people I admire (like you!!) going through the same thing and coming out stronger. So thank you so much for posts like this and for just being you and being so awesome 😀

  73. Susi says:

    Hi Cassey!

Why don’t you do a “holiday” or a “travel” workout! We can use it in hotels during travelling or being on holiday if we don’t want to leave a day out or staying in shape in spite of not eating the food we usually eat. I think it would be a great motivation for all the popsters. No excuses!
    Hugs an lots of love!

  74. Julie says:

I have been sick for the past month with severe allergies. I had been trying to stay on track and work out but I had absolutely zero energy and felt so miserable. I finally went to the doctor and he told me what allergy medicine I needed to be taking, and within a day I felt like a whole new person.

For the past three days, I’ve been using my regained energy to do your videos. You make working out so much fun. There are times in your videos where I want to give up, but you will say, “Keep going!” or you’ll say, “8 more!” and start counting down. It’s those moments where I get a new rush of energy and I’m able to fight off the urge to give up.

I came here to check out your recipes before I went to the grocery, but I do want to say this: Nobody’s perfect and we all get caught up in one thing or another that keeps us from doing what we love or what makes us feel good. You are absolutely amazing and inspiring. I hope you never forget that!

Keep going! You can do it!

  75. Jess says:

Cassey, you are amazing! I really REALLY needed this. I cried when I read this because I am so off track in every aspect of life – working out, eating clean, all the things I love, i have been neglecting. It’s hard to find the space to just be yourself. I love your videos and all of your products and especially love you! Your attitude inspires everyone and you always lighten my day 🙂 thank you for that! And you also helped me see that i want to be a nutritionist and fitness instructor. I have been through so many stomach issues with gluten and blah blah blah I just feel the need to help people that are going thru the same things.
    ANYWAYS. Sorry for the novel!
Thank you for being your amazing beautiful self and we all love and appreciate all you do!

  76. Laura says:

Thank you for your post, Cassey!
In the last few weeks I always tried to eat healthy and I tried to follow you calender (which I actually did!) but my family don’t eat this clean with me (without sugar) and when my parents cook it’s not really easy to eat different and not healthy. Also, I don’t really know “how to eat healthy and clean”, but I do definitely try!
It would be really, really awesome, if you could find any time in the future to do a “Food diary” on Youtube. I think, it would be really inspiring for all of us. But take your time:)
    Greetings from Germany!

    1. Laura says:

      * and healthy:)

  77. Sarah says:

    Hi Cassey!

Thank you so much for writing this post! I really appreciate you getting so personal and emotional with us. It’s part of the reason why I love you and your blog so much!
I especially appreciate it because recently I’ve been struggling with a lot of similar things. I’m almost done with my first year at college, and I’ve struggled with adjusting and finding my right routine and balance at school. It’s been hard to manage working out, classes, and having a social life. I actually have been meaning to email you about a transformation story. And this post has inspired me to go ahead and do it!
    Much love <3

  78. teilzeitDAU says:

Thank you so much for this post, I sooo needed this!! (can you read minds, btw?)

So I’m in! Let’s get back on track together!

Btw: Even if you decided to give up on clean eating altogether and live on fried ice cream with peanut butter (and sriracha?) on top? for the rest of your life and gained 30lb or whatever, you would still ALWAYS be my absolutely non-negotiable, unquestionable, undisputed (shall I go on?) fitness-workout-lifestyle-greatpersonality-amazingness-everything idol, okay? 🙂
So don’t you worry about one or two (or ten) slip-ups or missed workouts.
You are still our Craymazing Cassey (omg I like that expression!! lol)

    love ya! xx

  79. linda H says:

thank you Cassey for writing this! I needed this so bad right now! My life has gotten stagnate, and I am trying to do something about it. I have a job, that I just cannot stand, so I went out and applied for another one, and have an interview monday, (Cannot Wait , Exited!) And my life was starting to get that same way, so I decided to start deleting negative people from my facebook, and email. It felt good to do that. I have realized that negative people do bring me down, and I ‘m not going to deal with negative people anymore.
I have also realized that I am introverted, and I definately, need my space. My soon to be husband, has realized that too, and supports me in , my decision to take time by myself. That why I love him, he understands and gets me.
As for working out, I lost motivation, because last week, I got a stomach virus and got really sick. So I slowly tried to get back into the swing of things. I even went back to my local ymca to workout and forgot how much I missed it. ( I was debating on cancelling my membership, before then) But I not decided to keep my membership and go back and get fit, (since I am getting married in 11months) . So thank you again for the post, I appreciate all you do for me!

    Love, Linda H

  80. Nicole says:

Me too! I have been off track this whole week! My eating has been ok, but my energy level is just not here. And I have only worked out 3 days this week instead of my usual 5-6. I think it is that time of year, I hknow I have graduation, two jobs, we will be moving in 2 weeks and I am stressing out! And because of this I feel exhausted mentally, which makes me feel physically exhausted and so I get into a spiral downward. I will start anew though adn I know it will all be alright.

  81. Rebekah says:

You should designate a day to rest! You give the POPsters Sunday to relax. Treat yourself to the same reward! 🙂 Maybe start with one adventure each week or giving yourself up to nature. Since you’re in LA, there’s too much to explore! You should do a video of your new place! That would be fun!

  82. Michela says:

Thank you Cassey! As everyone said, this post was timely. Time to reconnect to the woman I used to be, I am.
    You’re amazing, keep going! <3

  83. Johanna says:

This post came just the right time for me, I am in the sma position now. I just quit my job as I lost my motivation and I lost track on what I need to do in my life. So now I just relax, seek some peace and get back on track. I wrote just the same things to my diary as you did in this post. Thank you for being such a motivational person 🙂

  84. Steph says:

I can 100% relate to this right now. I have been off track the past few days with my eating habits. I have been eating junk and I am fully aware it is because of emotional eating due to stress. I’m glad I can at least recognize it and learn from it. Also, because of stress and worrying, my sleeping patterns have also been lacking. It’s hard to fall asleep some nights because my mind just keeps wandering!! Also, I’m a really big morning person and HATE sleeping in! So I just deprive myself from sleep so I don’t waste my day. It’s starting to catch up and I need to realize that first and foremost comes my HEALTH, my BODY. That’s the fundamental before anything else can go right in life. So, like you were suggesting, Cassey, take your mistakes/bad habits and learn from them to become more resilient and become a better, healthier person! It’s impossible to stay on track ALL of the time because life throws us challenges, but what we can take from it and learn from it, is what is most important!

  85. Victoria says:

I can’t tell you how much I needed to read this blog post today. I’ve been in the midst of finals and moving across the country so my eating habits have been terrible and I’ve only been doing the minimum when it comes to workouts (when I even do them). I’m glad to see that we’re not alone in this, but you’re right, it’s time to reset and get back to doing what makes up happy. Thanks for being such an inspiration and helping us stay motivated!

  86. LIsanne says:

    Hi Cassey,

You are not alone in this! everyone needs a ‘reset’ now and then to really know what youre missing and doing ‘wrong’ in your live. sometimes you gotta fall to know where you really stand… i think. Thank you for all your hard work for us!!

    xoxoxx lisanne

  87. ingrid says:

I love that you don’t post ALL high-energy, get-up-and-do-it, go-go-go stuff. It’s real and it reminds us, your fans, that you are human!

  88. Aoife says:

Aww I love how real and honest you are! I look forward to more blogposts and vlogs! 🙂

  89. Kelsie says:

Wow, this blog post couldn’t have came at a better time! I have been doing so well with working out and eating clean. I am so toned and fit and noticed my energy levels and overall heath improving. But latley I have just been so tired with college and my lack of sleep that I sometimes just can’t work out and then I feel so horrible afterwards. And then, of course, I uncontrollably eat a bunch of carbs to compensate. I am just afraid that all of the hard work I have put in over the past year is going to go down the tubes cause of how I have been feeling lately. After reading this post, it truly hit home for me and I feel like I am not the only one. Especially since its you, my role model! Maybe I do just need a day of solitude to get myself back to par. Thank you so much for all that you do and for making all of us feel better about ourselves for our faults and imperfections. And thanks especially for this honest blog post, it really does make an impact on us. Love you Cassey!

  90. Erin Harmon says:

    You said it, sister!
You are so encouraging, and you are not alone.
Have a beautiful day with your fabulous self! You deserve it.
Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for being you 🙂
    ~Erin

  91. Anna says:

I have been having the same problem this week! I have been just getting so frustrated with the fact that ,even after doing your workouts for so long, there are still a lot of moves I can’t do! Thanks for the post though! It really came at a wonderful time!

  92. Gabby says:

Wow Cassey…. this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Like seriously. The past 2 weeks have been AWFUL in terms of eating right and working out. I, like yourself, have been finding myself just too tired to work out. I’ve been in that “I reeeeeaaaallllllyyy don’t wanna get outta bed” mood almost everyday. Then to make myself feel better, I just chow down on food. Which then makes me wanna eat MORE food to combat the guilt I just felt from eating so much food! I’ve completely lost motivation and today was actually the day that I was gonna just forget about all of my goals because I realized this morning that I had gained 3 pounds over the past week and a half. Thank you so so much for this blog post, and for letting us see that you too are human and make mistakes with diet and fitness. It gives me hope that if you can bounce back on track, and if other POPsters can bounce back, then I can too. This post has inspired me to not give up today – or any day – and to put on my workout shoes and go! Well, I’m gonna end this comment here so I can go workout. Much love Cassey <3

    <3 Gabby

  93. Mel says:

Wow! This is post is comes at a perfect time for me. I have been battling illness this week induced by medicine, so frustrating. I also have eliminated gluten the past two weeks to determine if it’s causing some pain I have been dealing with for the past year. I also work full time and run a part time business that has recently expanded. It’s all been too much and my exercise has been lacking, on the upside I am eating very clean.
As a therapist, I frequently have to remind myself that forgiveness is crucial to a healthy mind and attitude, as well as learning to saying no (very difficult to do). So, can we learn to forgive and move on and recommit to being gentle with ourselves?
    Be well!

    1. Mel says:

Speaking of forgiveness, please forgive my grammar errors.

  94. Jessica says:

Lately i lost all motivation to do just anything, I convince myself that the little i do know is better than what I did 4 months ago. I’ve lost 20pounds!, but i’ve just stopped. I have. and I truly feel ugh but, that feeling eases into my evenings of working out and soon after telling myself I need to go get moving, it’s 12 a.m.. Re setting is so much harder than sticking with it and i never would think of it that way
Thank you for reminding me I deserve better.
    Time to re set!

    Love Jess

  95. Robyn says:

Wow… This saucy a great thing to read. I have been A Popster on and off for 9 months, I believe. When I am completely dedicated I feel so proud of what I have accomplished. Torching calories with my favorite workout buddy, Cassey! When I don’t work out I feel so upset and unbalanced. But then I dig deep and workout again… realizing that this is a commitment I can benefit from for the rest of my life. I try to wake up everyday ready to hit my goals in all aspects of life… And even if I am not perfect I am happy that I am trying my best.

    1. blogilates says:

      you said it sistah

  96. Kim says:

I haven’t been reading your blog long but I am always amazed at your endless energy. I’m glad that you are trying to make sure and take time for yourself – sometimes it’s hard when you have so many projects that help others.
Great post and reminder for everyone to take care of themselves!

  97. Noelle says:

I’ve seen some people on facebook telling you how much they needed this, and how they feel the same as you. Well, I didn’t need this post. I didn’t need anyone to tell me how to be back on track, because I already am. And a biiiiiig part of that success is thanks to you. I wanted a more active life, but I’ve never like the gym, and following your workouts and your vlogs, has given me the opportunity to have it. So, thank you for giving me the not-need (if that’s even a word..) of a self-steem boost, because I already have it!!
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks, maybe you need to listen to your advices/yourself a little bit more. For what it’s worth, there are a lot of people listening to them, and improving their quality life, thanks to you.

    Have a happy life, Cassey!
    xoxo

  98. Shelley says:

Cassey, thank you so much for your words! I’ve been in a real decline lately and for you to share your own struggles helps me realise I’m not alone… Which I feel that I am a lot lately… I’ve been following you for nearly a year now and you helped me get to my fittest at one stage. Like I said, I’ve been on a decline, in pretty much every aspect of my life, but I am really attempting to bring myself out of this rut and back to the healthy, fit and happy person I know I truly am! Your words and videos have always helped me with this and that is why I turn to you yet again! So really, truly, thank you from all my heart and soul <3
    Shelley from Australia! xxxx

  99. Elizabeth says:

This is why I follow you Cassie you keep it real. I am studying abroad in Italy and was wondering why you were up so late lol I definitely get into those slumps and I find that reading a good self-help book or reminding myself of my motivations, dreams, and hopes can always get me going. Good luck to us both and continue sharing your love of fitness, health, and happiness.

    xoxo Lizzy

  100. Amy G-rentz says:

    Hey Cassey!

Reading this today really connected me to you on a more personal level. I feel like I have admired you and your energy and your personal fitness and health for so long that I forgot you were human! I know how it feels to be spread so thin and be taken away from doing what your heart wants you to do, and then feeling guilty for not being able to muster up the energy to do those things or eat right. I am a preschool teacher, so there are days when I come home and all I want to do is sit in front of my computer in my pjs until it’s time for bed!! On those days, if I can get myself to do at least one of your videos, I usually can keep going and finish off the list for that calendar day! So you’re right – you just need to START moving, then your momentum will carry you through (and you’ll feel better about yourself for doing so!).

Thanks, Cassey! Thank you for being so awesome 🙂

    1. blogilates says:

      YOU are awesome!

  101. Celi says:

Cassey, thats just sweet. I totally agree with you, take your time but also don’t lose track of your goals! I love what you’re doing, keep doing it, you’re great! Love from Germany.

Cassey.. this came at the perfect time. Just reading this post makes me feel at ease! I continually strive to do everything and forget it’s not always achievable. Like. .. wanting to do an hour workout every day and forgetting that even 20-30 minutes is just fine.

    Thank you.

P.S. I seriously miss food vlog and Ask Cassey vlogs!!
P.P.S. what ever happened to Livestrong posts?

    Best,
    Taylor

re PPS: They are coming up with new programming so no new LSW vids for now.
