Hey POPsters! It’s 4:55am and I am still awake. I’m in one of those can’t-sleep-til-I-get-this-done modes. It’s a REALLY GOOD/BAD habit I have.
I’ve been sooooooo excited to get these new activewear pieces up for you as well as new TRAIN INSANE OR REMAIN THE SAME colors – there’s like 10 different new shades! Go check them all out here! I am especially loving the new navy blue color. These tops are so cool when paired with a colorful sports bra!
Oh and get this…you’re gonna get SUCH a kick out of what color I called the red top…click here to laugh.
Okay, now let’s talk about the new stuff and some of my fave pieces from the POOF! Performance collection. It was so much fun being an activewear buyer for the day when I was selecting these pieces. It was kind of an emotional experience actually.
Some of you may already know this, the new POPsters maybe not, but I once was working for a big fashion retail company right out of college and was on my journey towards becoming a fashion buyer <– I thought it was every girl’s dream (especially coming from a Biology background, I thought I had really made it, you know pushed boundaries and Asian career stereotypes)…to spends thousands and thousands of dollars on someone else’s dime making fashion forward decisions for department stores seasons in advance. But the environment did not allow me to thrive. I felt cooped in, watched, and afraid constantly. So after about 9 months, without a job or any concrete plan in place, I quit.
I ended up teaching Pilates about 12 times a week to help pay for my apartment and my bills as I was figuring out my life. I was financially dependent on being a full time instructor. It wasn’t easy. It was extremely tiring, but satisfying. Around the same time, one of my oGorgeous yoga bags somehow made it into SHAPE Magazine so I decided to give my efforts as a designer a true chance. I remember buying a ticket to China on Friday and leaving on Sunday.
And the rest is what we have here today :) A work in progress.
What I am trying to say is that, had I stayed at that company, it would have taken me at least 5 years to become a real fashion buyer. And ONLY if I could get myself promoted. My future was dependent on someone else’s decision and approval. When I visited POOF’s showroom, I saw buyers from my old company sitting in the office next door. You can’t imagine the chills that ran down my spine. It was…cathartic.
So guys, without further adieu, here are some of my fave pieces from the new POOF! Performance collection:
Zipper Back Active Capris,$30. Loving the neon pink and the sleek and streamlined look of the pant!
Best part is…it has a super cool key pocket in the back!!!!! SAY WHAT!!?????
Ruched 3/4 Sleeve Zip Jacket in Charcoal, $36.50. A jacket!!! A jacket!!!! I love love love the ruched detailing. There’s even a funky pocket on the upper arm!!! Also comes in Blue Ink and Black!
Seamless lace cami, $16.50. There’s also a matching booty short and bra top! This set is so comfy. I love wearing it to sleep! But you know what? You could also wear the top outside…does it look familiar?
Hehe, thought you would get a kick out of that :) And now for some animal print…in sports bra form!
Blue Cheetah Padded Bra Top, $15. This is a seamless bra and you have GOT to check out the back. It is fully lace!!!!! So nice, so nice.
There’s tons more on the shopblogilates.com site, but these are my top picks. I hope I did a good job playing buyer! Let’s see how this goes! Until I can actually start designing and manufacturing my own activewear, which yes I hope to do one day (it’s one of my dreams), shopping for you guys is pretty fun :)
Let me know in the comments what you like or don’t like and what you wanna see more of!!!
Much love. OMG it’s 5:45am now. The suns coming out. DARN IT. I have a meeting in 6 hours…k promise I will get myself some rest tomorrow. I was just too excited!!!!!! Forgive me!
