Sriracha Popcorn Recipe

Sriracha Popcorn Recipe

Helloooo POPsters!!

Today I spent time testing out a Sriracha popcorn recipe while wearing my Halloween costume #2…a Sriracha bottle! It was pretty fun making the cap…check out this arts n crafts skillz!

This is what the final product turned out like! What do you think?! Do you like this one or the Sailor Moon outfit better?

By the way…I am dying to wear those boots more. It is still hot in CA! And nearly November! I’m not complaining though… 🙂

So anyway, here’s what my healthy Sriracha popcorn looked like:

It was so tangy and hot and good! Here’s the recipe:

1/2 lemon juice squeezed, 1 tsp sriracha (or more if you want it spicy), and about 1 TBSP of crushed garlic seasoning or powder.

Just pop your popcorn in the microwave. I got 94% fat free popcorn from Trader Joes since it was more convenient, but, what you can do if you wanna go fat free is buy the kernels, throw them in a brown paper bag, close it up, and microwave just like that! That’s true air-popped no butter.

After you get your popcorn, simply spray the lemon-sriracha concoction all over it and sprinkle with garlic. In the video, I just poured it and some of the corn got soggy, so make sure you lightly spray! And eat right away. REALLY GOOD!

Or if you wanna try the original Sriracha Popcorn from theoatmeal.com, you can get it here. It’s $5.99 a bag though! That’s kinda nuts.

So I found a recipe that you can try at home at bakeyourday.net:

2 Tbs. butter
1 Tbs. olive oil
1 Tbs. Sriracha sauce
1 tsp. sesame seeds + more for garnish
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
4 cups popped popcorn (see note below)
Salt to taste

Check their website above for full directions!

Popcorn is a great, light, healthy snack if you ever get the munchies. Just be careful of the butter and sodium content!

Have a fab Monday! I will be working hard on your #NutsInNovember calendar the next couple days. Anything new you want on there?

<3 you so much!

Cassey

Hey just for another option, walmart, and I’m sure other places, sell a popcorn seasoning. It’s called Kernel Seasons. Little sprinkle bottles where you find the popcorn. I think they’re alittle over $3 a bottle, but it says you can use it on veggies, pizza, eggs, whatever you want. I’ve even tried it on salad to replace salad dressing, you just have to wet it a tiny bit to get it to stick. Anyway I love it because it comes in 5 or 6 flavors, nothing artificial, calories per serving (1/4 tsp) is literally 2 calories. Sodium is the only other thing on the ingredients that’s not 0 and it’s 65 mg per serving. I’m not concerned with sodium. I thought this stuff would be great for making healthy chips. I mean some of the flavors I’ve tried are butter, ranch, nacho cheese, pizza, and white cheddar. So you see how these could be for chips. I’m thinking some ranch and nacho cheese doritos.

also amazing if you add yellow curry powder instead of garlic 🙂

I was Sriracha for Halloween too! But I bought my costume online and it had a bunny on the front of my dress. LOL. Thanks for this recipe! I will be trying it soon!

YAY I’m glad you posted this video because I love popcorn but I didn’t know if it was eating clean. I pop mine in a brown paper bag and I put lemon juice and chilli powder on it… SO GOOD!! I guess I have been doing it right this whole time! 😀 Thanks Cassey!

    Hello!
I just wanna ask, what is sriracha? I can’t buy it in my country, but I guess it’s some kind of hot sauce with a texture like ketchup? And is it really that good? Because you sound so excited about it!

    1. Asha says:

      It’s a red chile sauce.
I just recently tried it (because of Cassey, lol) and it is really good!
It has a really good flavor. Usually I just like hot sauce because it adds heat to food, but I like the flavor that sriracha adds 🙂
Here’s a recipe to make your own, or you may be able to buy some online:

    Hey Cassey,
at the end of #omgoctober, following the calendar, I have a feeling I didn’t do much cardio during the last month (except Thursdays of course :))… So my suggestion for #NutsInNovember would be more cardio… The new cardio videos in October were awesome btw.
Well, in any case, I know it’s gonna be funny November 🙂
    Enjoy Halloween!

I just made this! I used to eat popcorn with Valentina hot sauce on it, but I had to try this since I prefer Sriracha. I like the idea of mixing lemon juice and garlic powder/seasoning with the Sriracha!! The only problem is sometimes when the popcorn gets soggy, the unpopped kernels stick to the popped, which is an unwelcome surprise if you’re eating quickly!

    Thanks for posting!

    Hey Cassey,
I was wondering if you could make a butt burning video that makes the butt round on the sides, not just under and close to the thighs. If you get what I mean. Thank you <3

  18. Laura says:

oooh I make this all the time! so good! your costume is top notch!

    Hi Cassey!

I love love love your costume! It is so awesome!
    So creative!

I just went through 2 days with your Call Me Maybe Squat Challange, and it hurts soooo bad! But I will keep going! I need to loose the weight now!

Thanks for a really cool, fantastic blog! I enjoy reading and watching your videos!

    Lots of hugs from Denmark!

hey! this is such a wonderful idea, i wanted to thank you for sharing – especially since i have opted to nix the standard microwave popcorn bags. i recently discovered (and thought i should share) that the chemicals used to create “butter flavoring” has been linked to some serious health issues! http://www.foodconsumer.org/newsite/Safety/chemical/buttered_popcorn_flavoring_alzheimer_s_disease_1018120717.html

    hi cassey!
this is strange, i can’t see the vid (it says it’s “private”) even though i’m logged in on yt. well, will try again later 🙂

i love the sriracha outfit! the sailor moon outfit does of course look very sophisticated etc, but i like the sriracha one just as much bc you didn’t “only” buy it but made some of it yourself 🙂 i always like self-made costumes, they’re so unique/creative/precious even though (or because!) they might have some flaws etc.

i can’t WAIT for NutsInNovember! aaah:) i’m sure you’re gonna come up with yet another awesome calendar!
if i could make one wish for the new calendar, it would be that it offered some info as to how much cardio/strength you would recommend doing every day if the goal is fat loss, muscle gain/muscle maintenance, i.e. how we could complement the calendar if we wanted to do a bit more than the given workouts.

But maybe that’s more a topic for a blogpost/askCassey vid than for a calendar 🙂

ok was able to watch it now, yay!
that looks yum! gonna try this next time i’m making pop corn!

btw: what’s that clattering/breaking sound at 5:55? it totally seems to come out of nowhere! What a spooky halloween sound, lol. hope no one got hurt 😉
